FOUR-YEAR-OLD MUSIC SENSATION BECOMES THE WORLD'S YOUNGEST CLUB DJ AND PLAYS FESTIVALS By Sammy Lloyd

VIDEO: https://youtu.be/5UeX36YlOdQ This four-year-old DJ is a mini music sensation, making moves by performing in nightclubs around the globe, attending popular UK music festivals and even appearing live on national breakfast show This Morning. Archie Norbury also known as DJ Archie has achieved the record title for youngest club DJ at the age of 4 years and 130 days. To break this Guinness World Records title, Archie had to play a music set unattended for a full hour to an audience of at least 20 people. To attempt the record and make it official, he took his talents to Hong Kong nightclub 'Bungalow', entertaining the enthusiastic crowd with an hour of classic house dance music. The previous record holder known under a similar name 'DJ Arch Junior' claimed the title when he was 5 years and 38 days old back in 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. New record holder Archie was originally born in Dubai but recently moved with his family to Hong Kong. The talented toddler was DJing from the age of two, first discovering his talent after watching his DJ dad John Norbury practice on his own decks in their home. Since then the young DJ has made a big impression in the music industry, playing at festivals including Boomtown in Hampshire and Clockenflag in Hong Kong, as well as performing with the famous jungle duo, the Ragga Twins. His biggest performance to date was at the Raver Tots Festival is Essex, where 7,000 people attended. DJ Archie is enjoying developing his skills and is always learning new tricks from his DJ dad, with nearly 20,000 followers on his Instagram page already, he is one to watch. Speaking to the four-year-old, he says his favourite thing about being a DJ is the songs. You're more likely to catch DJ Archie listening to his favourite drum and bass, house and garage music than singing a nursery rhyme like most kids his age! 2

Morgan Cutolo Chefs spend almost every day in the kitchen perfecting recipes and creating new ones—so they know how to make a great meal. Here is what chefs try NOT to make. Dropping food into hot oil “A common mistake that people make in the kitchen is when they are about to sear a meat or fish. They tend to drop the meat or fish right into the hot oil and the oil can splatter and burn them. The best method to fix that is to tilt the pan to keep oil on one side and put the meat where there is less oil and then just tilt it back slowly. Also, do not move the pan too much to avoid flames. Have patience!” —Chef Saul Montiel, Executive Chef at Cantina Rooftop.

It's no secret that a hot bath at night is settling, relaxing and can help to wash off the most stressful of days. New research has found that taking a warm bath twice a week may also help to relieve symptoms of depression, even more than physical exercise. In a small study, researchers from the University of Freiburg, Germany, set out to compare the effects of taking regular hot baths with regular exercise on 45 patients who were suffering from severe to moderate depression. Exercise is already a recommended intervention for depression, and research continues to stack up that it's just as good for our minds as it is our bodies. During the eight-week trial subjects were randomly assigned to either soak in a 40C degree bath for up to 30 minutes twice a week or to take part in two 45-50 minute sessions of moderately intense aerobic exercise. The baths were always taken in the afternoon, between 2p.m. and 6p.m, while the exercise consisted of warming up, walking, jogging, stretching and strengthening elements outdoors. The researchers then measured the participants' mood using something called the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale score, a widely used depression rating scale. They found that those who took regular baths saw a significant improvement in their depression score, a reduction of nearly six points, compared to a three-point improvement for those who exercised, suggesting bathing regularly may well be a more effective means of helping to treat depression. The authors emphasise in the study that patients who bathed began to see a substantial improvement in their mood after the first two weeks of treatment, while exercising took longer to have a significant effect. Bathing, they conclude, seems to be a fast-acting, low-cost and accessible method of improving depressive symptoms, particularly for those who have difficulty exercising. Why does a warm bath help? The researchers suggest that taking warm baths may help those suffering from depression because it changes our circadian rhythm, a cycle of physiological processes, often referred to as the "body clock" that tells us when to eat and sleep, which is disturbed among people who suffer from depression. "Body core temperature in depressed patients is elevated during the night, while quality is best when the core body temperature decreases, so this change in temperature may improve sleep quality," the study reads. "Sleep disturbances are an important mechanism contributing to depression." It's important to note that the study is limited in its tiny sample size, and the fact that a number of the subjects in the exercise group dropped out, so further research is needed into the relationship between the bathing and depression. Even so, let this be a reminder to take some time tonight, run yourself a bath, load it up with epsom salts, and relax.

We're sad to hear about the death of Chris the sheep, who in 2015 set a new record for most wool sheared from a sheep in a single shearing. Chris was rescued four years ago after several years in the wild. His coat was so big he was struggling to stand and urgently needed removal. After a 45-minute shearing session the amount of wool removed came to 41.10 kg. RIP Chris

The zircon crystals from Australia’s Jack Hills are believed to be the oldest thing ever discovered on Earth. Researchers have dated the crystals to about 4.375 billion years ago, just 165 million years after the Earth formed. The zircons provide insight into what the early conditions on Earth were like. Trace elements found in the zircons suggest they came from water-rich, granite-like rocks. According to the geologists who studied the zircons this information means the Earth cooled quickly enough to produce surface water and continental-type rocks relatively early in the Earth’s history. This means that the early version of Earth wasn’t as inhospitable as scientists previously believed. 10

While on a run they heard someone scream for help…. Kyle Cassidy and three other members of the Annenberg (Lunchtime) Running Group were stretching on the grounds of the University of Pennsylvania, waiting for a few stragglers. The Penn colleagues and other community members meet three days a week for a roughly 30minute jog and an occasional lecture. That’s right—during some runs, one of them delivers a talk; topics range from the brain to Bitcoin. Not your normal exercise chatter. But on this day last January, it would not be their normal run. The first clue that something was off was the man who sprinted past them. “Probably running a 7:15 pace,” Cassidy told Runner’s World admiringly. Cassidy discovered why the sprinter was so fleet of foot when another man ran by, yelling, “Help! He took my phone and laptop!” At that, the group did what running clubs do: They ran, trailing the suspect down the streets of Philadelphia until he ducked into a construction site. The runners split up. Cassidy ran around to the far side of the site to cut the thief off while the others wandered the neighborhood hoping he had dumped the loot in a backyard. No luck. So they decided to ask residents whether they’d seen the guy. When they knocked on the door of one row house, they were in for a surprise. Unbeknownst to them, the perp had already emerged from the construction site—and was hiding behind a bush by that very house. As the owner opened the door, the suspect darted out from behind the bush … and right into the arms of campus police, who’d joined the chase shortly behind the runners. The members of this running group are not hard-core jocks. But they do understand the benefit of a little exercise. “Running is typically a useless sport where you turn fat cells into heat,” Cassidy told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “But occasionally it can be useful, and here was one of those opportunities.” 13

Leah Campbell Technology is amazing and we’ve all grown used to being able to connect with the rest of the world at just the touch of our fingertips. But what are the dangers of all that connectivity? And are you taking the precautions you should? Checking your own email We’ve already covered staying away from work email, but you probably have some things you’d like to keep private in your personal email as well. Technology expert Burton Kelso of Integral Computer Consultants says criminals have the ability to snoop in on your keystrokes when you’re using public Wi-Fi, which means they can gain access to your web -based email accounts if you log in while they’re watching. “Most people use their email as a personal filing cabinet with tons of information that can be exploited against you,” he explains. 14

FIRST CELL PHONE CALL It’s hard to get excited about a landline call when you’re likely reading this article on your smartphone—a device that people use to do pretty much everything but make phone calls. Technophiles can celebrate April 3, 1973, as their holiday. On this date, Motorola employee Martin Cooper made the first cell phone call, standing outside in Manhattan, to a colleague in New Jersey. His immortal first words? “I’m ringing you just to see if my call sounds good at your end?” … and nearly 50 years later we’re still yelling, “Can you hear me now?!” 15

THE JETTY—SWAKOPMUND The first wooden jetty, completed in 1905, was damaged by borer worm Teredo navalis and construction of iron jetty began in 1911. Proposed length of 640 metres was enough to offload vessels without usage of smaller boats but by the beginning of World War 1 only 262 meters were completed. First repairs were done in 1986 when first part of iron poles were encased in concrete. The second replacement of badly corroded iron structures and repairs (part of jetty was closed for pedestrians in 1998 for 7 years) were finalised in 2010, including wooden promenade. The Jetty was proposed to be part of new desalination plant which in Swakopmund which never materialised. 19
