Artel Based in Prague, Czech Republic, Artel produces luxury Bohemian crystal glassware made entirely by hand using traditional methods. Arthur Price Family-owned British brand Arthur Price is synonymous with manufacturing and designing cutlery, tableware accessories and silverware. Established in 1902, they now distribute to 57 countries and have manufacturing facilities in both Sheffield and Birmingham, UK. Historically known for top quality tableware, in recent years they have widened their cutlery ranges at many price points, and also offer an eclectic collection of gifts. Arthur Price’s reach is broad and far, from the UK to the Far East, supplying department stores like Harrods, House of Fraser and Selfridges and many independents, plus some of the best hotels, airlines and cruise ships in the world with its retail/hospitality ratio at 80:20. Auratic Auratic is the high-end luxury tabletop brand of Chinese porcelain manufacturer Yong Feng Yuan (see YFY), the largest porcelain production site in the world. The leader of ceramics in China, Auratic offers high-end, casual and transitional dinnerware and gift items on bone china, premium porcelain and porcelain. Its Premium Porcelain body is made of 25 per cent magnesium instead of bone ash, making it highly durable compared to normal porcelain and three times as chip-resistant. Auratic is renowned for delivering exclusive and innovative production techniques, including underglaze colour on fine bone china. Auratic has 100 of its own speciality stores in China and also distributes to Asia, Russia, Europe and the Middle East. They recently established the brand in the US market, with a showroom at Forty One Madison, where they show twice a year. They also show at NY NOW, the Atlanta gift shows and at Ambiente. They focus mainly on retail, but they have a growing hospitality portfolio.

AXA Porcelaine

Augarten Porcelain offers a wide range of services for tea, mocca and coffee, as well as dinnerware, including tableware accessories, for retail (70%), hospitality (10%) and private projects (20%). As per the 300-yearold history of Augarten, porcelain is delicate yet robust, white and subtly shaded, while designs follow the traditional Austrian heritage and are individually customised, with every piece unique, having been made and painted by hand. The porcelain is manufactured in the heart of Vienna in the Augarten Palace. Bonna

Czech crystal manufacturer Bomma designs and produces high-quality products, from barware to decorative objects to lighting, all cut from genuine Bohemian crystal following the rich tradition of Czech crystal manufacturing and using the latest technology. Its new glass manufactory opened in 2012 and allows Bomma to continue to manufacture exceptionally clear crystal products both for their own brand and for high-end brands worldwide. They combine delicate hand-blown glass with automatic precise crystal cutting, claiming their crystal to be the clearest in the Czech Republic. Bomma is represented in prominent Czech and international galleries and showrooms, such as the Modernist and Futurist Gallery in Prague, La Rinascente in Italy and high-end department stores like Lane Crawford in Hong Kong.

For the past 35 years, Kar Porselen has been the leading porcelain manufacturer in Turkey. In 2013, they developed porcelain brand Bonna, which is focused 100 per cent on professional use for the Horeca market. Some 8 million pieces are produced annually. Bonna supplies to more than 20 countries, mainly Europe, and they target the medium to medium-high segment of the market. Clients include Marriott, Ramada and Rixos hotels. Burleigh Burleigh has been producing beautiful dinner services, English afternoon tea sets and stunning feature pieces for more than 160 years. Capdeco is a French family-owned cutlery business. The Froment family started its subcontracting business in the cutlery industry, polishing and sharpening knives, in 1963 in Thiers, the capital of the cutlery industry and where knives have been made for more than 6 centuries. The Capdeco brand was born in 2002. They design and manufacture cutlery and today boast some 30 collections. Capdeco is known for its high-quality 18/10 stainless steel cutlery, which features the best possible thickness, and for its imaginative and innovative mix of materials, from acrylic to wood.

Christofle

Since its creation in 1830, Chrisofle silverware has sustained its silvercraft expertise, while modernising its techniques. Its workshop in Yainville, Normandy, perpetuates the brand’s traditional expertise, with all manufacturing entirely done by hand according to traditional techniques by master silversmiths. Christofle is now a contemporary luxury brand that regularly collaborates with designers like Ora Ito and Marcel Wanders. Its most famed collection Jardin d’Eden, a complex design, took three years of study. Some 85 per cent of the company’s revenue is generated overseas. Dartington Crystal has been flying the flag for great British design and glassmaking since 1967. Today, they remain the only brand still making 24 per cent lead crystal in the UK. Czech glass manufacturer Crystalex has been using one of the most exacting technologies of glass decoration, Pantograph, for more than 150 years at its Karolinka glassworks in Novy Bor. F Faïencerie de Gien

Founded by Englishman Thomas Hall in 1821 to the south of Paris, not far from the Loire Valley chateaux, Faïencerie de Gien is a ceramic company whose creativity was often celebrated at world exhibitions. Refinement and innovation have always been Gien’s key concerns. The company generates around 40 per cent of its revenue in exports, but has plans to significantly develop its international sales. With that in mind, Gien recently set up a customer service department in the US and is now developing designs specifically to meet American consumer expectations. They will be showing at Ambiente for the first time in 2016.

Duralex A registered trademark since 1945 with its first plant in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, near Orleans, France, Duralex is a specialist in tempered glass technology and tableware. A brand synonymous with durability, Duralex produces practically unbreakable glass, around 2.5 times more resistant than an annealed product of the same thickness.
