[ Art house ] 2017

[ Art house ] A house for an artist should be a church. It’s a sacral place, a lullaby of thoughts. Masterpieces of thoughts might change the course of design development, art or architecture. The workroom of an artist is more than a church. Every element should be understood, simple and clean.

If to take apart the design, it is made from several layers. Multilayering creates a depth of space, which does not allow the presence of inspirational tenuity. Half of the house is bathed in the sun, another half is restful in semidarkness. These ephemeral feelings are more important than basic house functions. The project is based on aesthetial function, made out from the artistic functional need. [ Alena Tkachenka_visualization ]

[ Dynamics/tranquility ] If to spell out the functiondl part of aesthetics, Light is a space for the lessons with students, for creation, for discussions, for exhibitions. It’s completely opened field free to be transformed into one of those functions.Only glass walls and two heavy columns divide working space from the outside. The main definitions here are light, dynamics, activity, outsid, external, visible.

Physical onnection with nature is possible at the small place under the roof. At the rainy weather or too hot day it can be a pleasible escape from the artificial shelter.

[ Materialistic philosophy ]

Glass, concrete and wood. Glass as transparent and light - cold and bright, creates an active space and connects with outside. Concrete as unchanging and cold material, used for bearing loads, stability and shelter from the outside. Wood is warm and cosy, used for the “rest and sleep part. [ Structural philosophy]

Classic form of a house (known, stable, heavy) - roof, beams and columns. concrete. Glass is connected to concrete, these two materials create a cold, bright space for work. Wooden shell is hidden under the stable and heavy structure of a concrete spine of a house, joint between a shell and a shelter is visible.

[ First floor | Sleep and rest ]

Upper part of it is a bedroom - 15m2. Sleep is the most closed stage of a person’s time and needs the most security. A small mezzanine library for keeping all documentation about the life of an art house is located up from the kitchen. The stairs: monolite structure. 0.2x0.2m, 1m width. The height of the upper space is between 2.2 and 3.3m.

[ Ground floor | Work and study ]

The working space is designed in a way that can be used for the work of different scales. Long and narrow shape allows to work with long artworks, as well as with small, without feeling a wast empty space. The corner with tables can be used as a studio for art students,

[ Ground floor | Exhibition ]

The space can be transformed into an exibition, and can be divided into four flexible rooms: two gallery rooms, one working room and one furshet room. For that there are 5 stends 2m to 2m on the rolls. The exhibition space can be extended to the outside, if needed (to open all sliding doors).

[ Interior | main room ]

The height of the working space has a quality to work comfortly with great artworks up to 6m, and with small artworks. The key to the comfort in both occasions is different height of two walls. There will be no not using space. The length of the room allows to work with extra long canvases. The artist that works with panels for civil buildings has the possibility to work in his own space. A play between extra large working space, and box-like rest space is a key to dynamic and productive exsistence.

[ Interior | Kitchen ] Water in the church invites a human from the very entrance. In the art house, the first what sees a man coming through the door to the quiet, chamber part of the house is a washbasin. A washbasin which is not something to hide, but to perform . Water in the beginning of a “house event” should have its worthy place. The welcoming part of the house is in water and in a small light from the roof window.
