This has certainly been a year of new challenges and wonderful opportunities for the Lenoir Community College Foundation and our community. Through all the changes, the goal of the Foundation Board remains the same. We continue to secure resources that increase financial assistance to students, improve educational programs, and provide ongoing support to modernize and expand facilities at LCC.

For 47 years, students with financial need have been assisted by the Foundation’s scholarship and emergency loan program. Because of the generosity of the faculty, staff, and the community, the Foundation awarded more than $244,178 in scholarships to deserving students and provided more than $38,000 in emergency loans to students experiencing financial difficulties in 2019-2020.

The Foundation launched a new program this year to assist low-income working students with transportation needs. Cars for College was made possible after a $250,000 honorarium was gifted by the Z. Smith Reynolds (ZSR) Foundation to commemorate former Trustee John O. McNairy’s 20 years of service to the ZSR Foundation. The goal is to assure students have access to a safe, legal, affordable, and dependable vehicle to get to college and the plan is to provide vehicles for
