All human beings are born with equal and permanent rights and fundamental freedoms. It is our duty to ensure that these rights are known, understood and enjoyed by everyone, everywhere.


These rights are yours.

RIGHT TO EQUALITY Everyone is born free and equal. We should act as companions.

FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION Everyone is entitled to the universal rights and freedoms with no discrimination.

RIGHT TO SAFE AND FREE LIFE Everyone has the right to a life in freedom and safety.

FREEDOM FROM SLAVERY No one is a slave to another person. Slavery is prohibited.

FREEDOM FROM TORTURE No one has the right to treat anyone inhumanely.

RIGHT TO LAWFUL JUDGEMENT Everyone, everywhere is a person before the law.

RIGHT TO EQUAL JUDGEMENT Everyone, everywhere is equal before the law with no discrimination.

RIGHT TO PROTECTION FROM VIOLATIONS OF LAW Everyone is entitled to protection from violations of the law.

FREEDOM FROM UNJUST ARREST AND EXILE No one has the right to arrest or imprison anyone without good reason.

RIGHT TO FAIR PUBLIC HEARING Everyone is entitled to a full and impartial public hearing.

RIGHT TO INNOCENCE Everyone is innocent unless proven guilty. We all have the right to defend ourselves

FREEDOM FROM PERSONAL INTERFERENCE Everyone has the right to a private life.

RIGHT TO FREE MOVEMENT Everyone has the right to live and settle anywhere.

RIGHT TO ASYLUM Everyone is entitled to seek protection in another country if in danger.

RIGHT TO NATIONALITY Everyone has the right to a nationality and we are free to change it.

RIGHT TO MARRIAGE AND FAMILY Everyone has the right to marry and have a family. The family unit is protected by society.

RIGHT TO PROPERTY Everyone has the right to own property. No one has the right to unjustly take another’s property.

RIGHT TO BELIEFS AND RELIGION Everyone has the right to practice and preach free beliefs and religion.

RIGHT TO OPINION AND EXPRESSION Everyone is free to express themselves and have opinions.

RIGHT TO PEACEFUL ASSEMBLY Everyone has the right to join groups and meet peacefully.

RIGHT TO DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT Everyone has the right to participate in a democratic government.

RIGHT TO DIGNIFIED LIFE Everyone is entitled to a dignified life and free personality.

RIGHT TO FAIR WORK Everyone is entitled to a choice of fair work in favourable conditions.

RIGHT TO REST AND LEISURE Everyone is entitled to reasonable rest and leisure time.

RIGHT TO ADEQUATE LIVING STANDARDS Everyone is entitled to adequate living standards. Mothers and children are given special attention.

RIGHT TO GOOD EDUCATION Everyone is entitled to a compulsory and free fundamental education.

RIGHT TO CULTURAL COMMUNITY LIFE Everyone is free to contribute and share in the cultural community life.

RIGHT TO SOCIAL ORDER Everyone is entitled to a social order, locally and internationally, for these rights to be realised.

COMMUNITY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL LIMITATIONS Everyone has duties to their community and rights are not limitless.

PROTECTION OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS No one is to use any of the rights and freedoms to violate human rights.
