Seeking God in prayer
While serving in Cambodia, I had the opportunity to participate in prayer with missionaries from different countries. I observed that the missionaries from Korea had their prayer meetings early in the morning, usually before dawn. They prayed with vigour and fervour! Hence, in the wee hours of the morning, we could hear their prayers reverberating throughout the walls of the bible school. Our friends from the USA expressed prayer rather liturgically much like attending an evening vesper. Every part of the prayer meeting seemed to be perfectly timed. Our prayer meeting was quite similar to those from Malaysia. We had a list of prayer items and kept to it religiously. Nonetheless, one trend stood out – they all prayed with sincere hearts. It is important to note that in prayer we seek God. Hence, Jeremiah, as a mouth piece of God, pronounced, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) Church Planting and Community Development are our twopronged strategy for our mission work in the seven countries. And prayer has undergirded this strategy! While we pray for God’s purpose to be fulfilled, we seek Him with sincere hearts. As you thumb through this issue of PrayerConnect, please pray with our missionaries. Rev Philip Lim Executive Director Methodist Missions Society
