MANUAL OVERRIDE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Array manual override is designed to mechanically open a reverse acting gate valve. It is typically used when no actuator control pressure is available. The Array manual override can be installed on any Array pneumatic or hydraulic actuator. A high thrust bearing located at the end of the override stem reduces friction caused by high torque requirements and prevents damage to the actuator top shaft. A milled slot in the override housing monitors the position of the override stem. This indicates the position of the gate valve.

6 MANUAL LOCK OPEN DEVICE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Array manual lock open device is designed to mechanically hold a reverse acting gate valve in the fully open position when 0 psi is present in the gate valve. The Array lock open device can be installed on pneumatic or hydraulic actuators. The construction material is low carbon steel. The mechanical device is coated with Xylan for severe service conditions.

Caution: Do not attempt to remove the manual lock open device from an Array actuator without first applying control pressure to the actuator that is sufficient to fully open the gate valve. Failure to follow this instruction could result in injury to personnel.

Note: For wire cutting applications it is recommended that the Array Fusible Manual Override be furnished. Caution: It is not recommended to use the manual lock open device when hydrostatically testing API 6A gate valves and actuators.
7 FUSIBLE LOCK OPEN DEVICE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Array fusible lock open device is designed to hold a reverse acting gate valve in the fully open position. When temperature exceeds 400°F (204° C), the fusible element will melt allowing the valve to return to the fully closed position. Pressure in the valve cavity is not required in order for the valve to close — the actuator spring force provides sufficient force to close the gate valve. 2
Array fusible lock open devices are adjustable to compensate for stroke variation between gate valve sizes and can be installed on pneumatic or hydraulic actuators. Caution: Do not attempt to remove the fusible lock open device from an Array actuator without first applying control pressure to the actuator that is sufficient to fully open the gate valve. Failure to follow this instruction could result in injury to personnel.

8 POSITION INDICATOR/LIMIT SWITCH ASSEMBLY GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Array position indicator / limit switch assembly is designed to allow users of Array actuators to connect the actuator to data acquisition systems in order to electronically monitor valve stroke position.

It is available for all Array pneumatic and hydraulic actuators and can be configured to accommodate a variety of gate valve sizes. Two ferrous “targets” are mechanically coupled to the top shaft. These targets activate magnetic limit switches when linear movement up or down occurs.

Polycarbonate viewing windows are provided to visually monitor valve stroke. Housing and top plate are constructed of carbon steel that has been coated for protection in severe service conditions. Limit switches and fasteners are made of stainless steel.

16 HYDRAULIC OVERRIDE GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Array hydraulic override allows a user to operate an actuated gate valve in the absence of regular control pressure. The override uses hydraulic pressure from a portable hydraulic pump to move the valve to the desired position. It is particularly effective when used on high pressure gate valves.
