Toys and games

Page 1

To make the toys they used wood, shells, plants and anything recycled. Aboriginal boys and girls played hunting and preparing food. The boys played with toy boomerangs, spears and shields. The girls played with dolls, baskets and digging sticks.

Toy bows and arrows The bows are made from a piece of wood in shape of a U.

Toy Boomerangs Toy boomerangs were used in a game where both children and adults would try and spin the boomerang for the longest distance.

Dolls Dolls were carried around in baskets, just like real babies. They made the dolls from shells and plant materials.

Spinning tops These are made from small pumpkins and put on a stick.

Balls They played a team throwing game, during which the balls can't touch the ground.
