Instructions:
Prepare the Cake:

In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Fold in the soaked dried fruits and nuts, if using.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and allow to cool completely on a wire rack
