From Tech to Tools, the Next Generation of Beauty
By Caroline Tell - Sunday Edit
Les Nouvelles Esthetiques no’98 2
These days, technology is about more than the latest social media app. It is the next phase of the $445 billion global beauty market, infiltrating everything from blue light masks and pore vacuums to AI experiences and customized algorithms. Just when you thought you nailed your facial cleansing routine, a new electronically charged appliance that promises to target skincare concerns such as aging, acne and hyperpigmentation comes out. Or just when you finally figured out your ideal foundation tone, now machine learning can figure it out for you, andoffer a lip color to match. But technology is not just about selling products. “The purchase is not the end-game anymore,” L’Oréal’s Chief Retail Officer Marc-Alexandre Risch told WWD last year. “It’s about engagement with the brands, it’s about the lifetime value of your customers.”
Right now, more than 180,000 people are attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and the main event? Beauty. Advances in beauty and wellness technology have you seeing double digit grwoth.
The Tools
Remember how state-of-the art the Clarisonic seemed when it launched back in 2001? The fact that you could utilize a battery-charged bristle brush to get a deeper facial cleanse was mind-blowing. Fastforward a decade or two and now you can perform all facials thanks to the many massagers, steamers, blackhead extractors, at-home microdermabrasion kits and blue light acne masks on the market today.
Do they work? It depends on what you are trying to fix. “For simple at-home solutions, like pore cleansing or exfoliation, some of these devices can work incredibly well,” says Claire Wolinsky, M.D.,a New York-based dermatologist. “However, if you have severe acne issues or deeper fine lines, there’s only so much an at-home device can do before inoffice professional treatment is required.”
Our favorite tech tools? We are currently loving the voice-enabled smart mirrorson the market that adjust lighting or embed cameras to view your skin in microscopic detail. We are also super excited about the Kerastase Hair Coach, the first-ever series of smart hairbrushes and styling tools that can detect damage and dryness from roots to ends. This one was introduced last year at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show and has only grown in popularity.
The Apps
These days you are just one swipe away from a luxury facial, rock star blowout, or from a dermatologist who can prescribe the optimal cream for rosacea. Beauty brands and experts are now utilizing our cell phone addiction to do good in the world, or at least make us look great. Beautylishis an app that features the latest beauty trends and
products as well as professional reviews, peer-topeer tutorials and a custom purchasing system so you never have to leave the app to achieve the look of your dreams.
Meanwhile, Indulge is a nail app that lets you scan and save any color to get its name and brand information. If you are the type to show off that fresh manicure, you can share your new look with anyone in your contacts and keep a record of what shades worked best.
Artificial Intelligence
Merriam-Webster defines Artificial Intelligence as an area of computer science that explores how intelligent behavior is simulated in computers. It also covers how a machine imitates intelligent human behavior.
So, what does that mean in the context of beauty? Various brands are now relying on such “intelligent behavior” to create actionable solutions for consumers. My Beauty Matchesprovides personalized recommendations that help consumers find products for their skin types or haircare colors. Using machine learning is a win/win all around as it drives higher conversion rates online and helps retail partners understand their customers. Beauty.aidetermines how we define the most beautiful people in the world. It analyzes fine lines, facial structure, skin tone and age to determine global winners. L’Oreal-owned ModiFaceuses chatbot technology like Facebook Messenger, which allows users to upload selfies directly into the chat to try on products virtually.
My Beauty Matches
But, before you go swapping out your brunette mane for platinum, know that getting your dream look is not always seamless in real life. “Often these apps create a digitized experience and tonally it can appear perfect on the screen, but in reality, the science of color doesn’t always work that way,” says Elisabeth Lovell, founder of Brooklyn’s Whiteroom Salon. “In reality, switching out your hair color can be an 8 to 12-hour project, which an app may not always recognize. Also, the picture may not account for hair damage done in the process.”
Augmented Reality
Whether via 3D glasses in-store or on a smartphone at home, consumers are increasingly calling upon augmented reality (AR) to experiment in the beauty or fitness space. In a new study conducted by virtual beauty app Perfect365 and Poshly, 78 percent of millennial customers were found to purchase cosmetics if they could preview them in advance. Similarly, arecent Intagestudy, commissioned by Perfect Corp., found that users of its YouCam Makeup app(which uses 3D face
scanning to apply the product to lips, eyes, brows, and cheeks) are1.6 times more likely to purchase cosmetic products and 2.7 times more likely to spend money on beauty products than non-users.The numbers do not lie, consumers want to preview products virtually before deciding whether to purchase a new highlighter or blush palette. Coty, Inc. just recently that it has developed for its Wella Professionals salons an augmented reality mirror allowing customers to try on a range of hair colors.
Meanwhile, Sally Hansen’s ManiMatchapplies similar technology to fingernails, where the app scans your hand and then lets you choose from any number of Sally Hansen nail products to virtually try on.
In the fitness industry, everyone is speaking about Mirror. It is a connected fitness system that streams live and on-demand classes to users in-home via a sleek responsive display. During class, the instructor will provide real-time comments and even personal shout-outs to keep you motivated. You can sync a Bluetooth heart rate monitor (complimentary with purchase) or Apple Watch to enable competition mode.

How AI Can Transform the Spa Industry
While artificial intelligence, or AI as we have come to know it, is a term most of us recognise, we often don’t understand the different ways that salon businesses interact with it on a daily basis. Today, I would like to talk about AI and how it contributes to the success of many salon businesses worldwide, how can it help salon owners optimise their offering for their clients and prepare their salon businesses for the fast-approaching future.
AI came onto the scene in the 1950’s with the evolution of the computer, capable of processing large amounts of information rather than only completing the commands of its operators. Eventually, with the steady improvement of machine learningalgorithms, computersbegan memorizing patterns and making predictions and decisions to solve problems without being specifically programmed to do so - essentially, they began to ‘think’ for themselves.
How is AI being used in the beauty industry?
It is already an established trend in the beauty and spa industries, with an array of platforms and tools available to salon owners to enhance their clients’ salon experience. Here are just some of the leading solutions that AI offers the beauty industry:
1.Client Relationships
Salon businesses are built largely based on relationships and client interactions. With salon professionals constantly engaging with clients on the salon floor, this does not eliminate the many daily phone calls received by clients wanting to book appointments and ask questions about various treatments and products. According to various studies conducted by Unicomcorp.com, 62% of calls to small businesses go unanswered and an incredible85% of callers will not phone back. This is a lost opportunity. To avoid this, salons can invest in Messenger[ai], which automatically and immediately texts the person who just called the salon. Messenger[ai] is a virtual receptionist who captures all missed phone calls and communicates with clients via text with intelligent autoreplies. Beyond answering calls at any hour, your virtual receptionist can view staff schedules, book appointments, and even take payments through a
securelink. If your customer has a more complex question that your virtual receptionist cannot handle, it will quickly transfer the call to your team who can then provide assistance.
According to Mindbodyonline.com, an overwhelming 89% of clients would rather communicate with their salon via text rather than fill out a form, send an email or phone the salon, therefore the result and benefit of capturing these missed calls is crucial. By doing so, it produces new clients, more leads, more appointments are made, and more client relationships maintained, ultimately increasing the growth of your business.
2.Skincare
For as long as we can remember, people have been conscious of taking good care of their skin. These days, with so much more information at our fingertips, people have a lot more knowledge about their skin type and how to best care for their skin. Today, our skincare routines and rituals have evolved to include healthy nutrition, supplements, regular facial appointments, fillers, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion and peels to name just a few.
You may be curious to know exactly how much of an edge is created for skincare platforms that adopt AI in their strategy? As AI tools are more advanced and help in detecting and diagnosing even the most minute troubles and abnormalities found within the skin, they work to process photos and develop algorithms accordingly. Many companies such as Faces, based in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, offer digital beauty advisors, where the platform analyses the skin, provides skincare recommendations and rates the skin based on one’s age and current condition and this is all cleverly done based on AI algorithms. After evaluating skin-related factors such as redness, eye bags, wrinkles, blemishes and more, via a selfie analyser, the application rates the skin's health and suggest ingredients and products that are known to improve it.
This incredible service is also available for clients for an in-depth, one-to-one consultation experience provided by the international brand called Skeyndor, who are the creators of a professional skincare line used in salons. Their AI device is used in combination
with a trained facial therapist. This means the client has the best of both worlds - an AI device able to see what the eye can’t see and the professional recommendation of the facial therapist, resulting in an enhanced customer experience, better results and customer loyalty.
3.Upselling and Promotions
In addition to never missing a potential booking, AI is incredibly powerful for its ability to upsell colour services to a haircut client or alerting consumers to a promotion. If the salon is running a discount on a particular product, AI will bring it to the attention of the client on chat or text. If the client expresses interest, the sale goes forward. A payment gateway can be connected, and by using an application, it can complete the transaction over text or online without anybody at the salon having to facilitate that sale.
4.Staff Training
While you cannot program your employees, you can use AI to help them to answer questions as precisely and consistently as their AI counterparts. This is exactly what SalonScripts.AI, an American company, sets out to accomplish. From handling check-in and check-out, and recommending takehome products, to the complex process of conducting consultations, SalonScripts trains staff in communicating exactly what the owner intends. It reviews and scores employees on their communication, whether it be over the phone or in person. Employees can practice until they feel ready to give it a try in a real situation with a client. The AI software then grades them on how well they communicate when talking to the client. The scripts should be customized so that all information stays true to the brand while still allowing room for each employees’ personality to shine through.
We believe that AI is the natural way forward for the beauty industry which is a personalized and engaging market that generates a large amount of data. AI can help salons and companies to develop data-driven business strategies to grow their business, sales, and clientele.

Esse launches 30-day Trial / Travel Sets for new customers and regular travellers
For those looking for a more results-driven and sustainable skincare regime, Esse has launched its innovative Trial / Travel Sets, each containing a 30day supply. Each comprehensive pack, which is also ideal for those requiring travel-sized products, helps to rewild the skin and restore balance in a sustainable manner.
“There is a big shift in the traditional mindset of skincare as people start to understand the importance of rewilding the skin with organic, microbiome-friendly products rather than the synthetic ingredients used in industrial beauty,” explains Esse founder and biochemist, Trevor Steyn. “We want to provide an option for customers to try out the Esse range to find out what best suits their unique skin needs. Because Esse seeks to restore the skin's natural microbiome, we expect a visible improvement after 30 days.”
The Esse Trial / Travel Set is available in three options: Sensitive, Oily / Combination / Normal, and Dry skin. These sets consist of four products each, delivering a complete skincare routine with a targeted treatment product. New users are encouraged to start with the Sensitive Range before moving on to the other sets once the skin has adjusted. However, all sets have been laid out to support every skin type with clear instructions on product use.
1. Why is it worth trying?
Since launching in 2002, Esse has established itself as a pioneer in the organic skincare industry, positioning itself at the forefront of microbiome skincare. Esse launched the world's first Live Probiotic Serum, containing 50 million live probiotic microbes per drop, to actively shape the skin's ecosystem and improve skin function. This is a world first in skincare.
Turning the centuries-old notion of 'sterile' beauty on its head, Esse has continued to challenge the profitdriven model that encourages repeated deep cleansing with chemical-laden products that strip the skin of its natural oils. Rather, Esse focuses on natural
ingredients and techniques that work better for the skin.
The brand draws on organic biotechnology and sustainable practices to support the skin's natural microbiome, which is the finely tuned ecosystem of microbes and cells that have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years to protect the skin.
The Esse Trial / Travel Set is also the perfect travel size, so customers always have easy access to their skincare products no matter where they are. For those keen to join the 'rewilding movement', the Esse Trial / Travel Set has provided the perfect starting point.
2. What are the benefits?
Esse continues to lead the way in sustainable skincare practices with proven benefits for skin health. By getting started with the Esse Trial / Travel Sets, customers can enjoy a more simplified daily skincare routine that minimises interference with the skin, supporting the skin's ability to produce its natural, protective oils. A simple splash on the face with cool water every morning is actually the best way to start the day!
“The skin holds an ecosystem - as would be found in a rainforest or ocean reef - with the natural microbes forming a complex ecology in a delicate balance,” explains Steyn. “When this natural balance is disrupted with harmful, chemical-laden skin products, the ecosystem is damaged. Because the skin microbiome is so important in keeping skin healthy, this damage can lead to problematic skin.”
For this reason, Esse's Trial / Travel Sets include products that rely on biotechnology to address and treat sensitive skin. These products are specifically designed to counter the effects of years of chemicalrich skincare products that disrupt the skin's natural processes. Esse's products are ideal for those suffering from skin sensitivity and inflammation, including acne and rosacea.
Esse also uses probiotics in its skincare rangemicroorganisms which have a number of health benefits for the skin. These include an improved barrier function to block toxins and pathogens, maintenance of the skin pH, reduced skin sensitivity and improved immune response, as well as slowing the ageing process. Esse products promote healthier skin, improve skin elasticity for a more youthful appearance, and reduce redness.
And it's not just about what's on the inside - Esse has also relaunched the Trial / Travel Set to improve sustainability. The current tubes have been replaced with glass bottles, and all products are housed in a fully biodegradable tray made from 100% sugarcane bagasse that has a very low embodied carbon and will compost in around 30 days. This is covered in a box that is fully recyclable.
3. What does the Esse Trial / Travel Set include?
The portable Esse Trial / Travel Set contains four products from Esse's globally renowned skincare line that have been carefully formulated to revitalise and protect the skin. These include:
Sensitive Skin Trial / Travel Set: •Esse Sensitive Cleanser 50ml, • Esse Sensitive Mist 30ml • Esse Hydro Moisturiser 20ml •Esse Protect Oil 12ml
Oily / Combination / Normal Skin Trial / Travel Set: Esse Gel Cleanser 50ml •Esse Hydrating Mist 30ml • Deep Moisturiser 20ml •Esse Hyaluronic Serum 12ml
Dry Skin Trial / Travel Set: Esse Cream Cleanser 50ml •Esse Biome Mist 30ml • Esse Rich Moisturiser 20ml •Esse Repair Oil 12ml

Making Ancient Spa Practices Modern: Blending Tradition with Innovation
Spas have been an integral part of human civilization for thousands of years, providing relaxation, rejuvenation, and therapeutic benefits. Ancient cultures from around the world, such as the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Indians, developed unique spa practices that are still revered today. However, with the rapid advancements in technology and changing consumer preferences, modern spas face the challenge of adapting these ancient traditions to meet the demands of the contemporary world. We explores the revitalization of ancient spa practices, highlighting how innovative approaches and scientific advancements are being integrated to create a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
The Relevance of Ancient Spa Practices
Ancient spa practices were rooted in the belief that physical and mental well-being were interconnected. From the Roman baths to the Ayurvedic rituals of India, these time-honored traditions sought to restore balance and promote holistic health. The enduring popularity of these practices is a testament to their efficacy and time-tested benefits. By understanding the historical context and underlying principles of ancient spa therapies, modern spa owners can harness their wisdom and adapt them to contemporary needs.
Technology and Innovation in Modern Spas
The advent of technology has revolutionized the spa industry, offering innovative tools and techniques to enhance traditional practices. From state-of-the-art massage chairs to cutting-edge skincare devices, modern spas are embracing technology to augment the therapeutic experience. For instance, LED light therapy, originally used in ancient Egypt for healing purposes, has been refined with modern equipment to address various skin concerns effectively. Similarly, digital mapping and analysis tools enable personalized treatments tailored to individual needs, taking the spa experience to new heights of customization.
Integrating Ancient Wisdom with Scientific Research
To bridge the gap between ancient spa practices and modern scientific understanding, researchers and spa professionals are exploring the therapeutic benefits of traditional ingredients and techniques. By conducting rigorous studies and clinical trials, these ancient practices can be refined and standardized, ensuring their efficacy and safety in the modern context.
Mindfulness and Wellness Retreats
In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on mindfulness and wellness retreats, drawing inspiration from ancient spa traditions. These retreats offer a holistic approach to well-being, incorporating meditation, yoga, and other mindful practices alongside spa treatments. By combining ancient wisdom with contemporary mindfulness techniques, these retreats provide a transformative experience, helping individuals to reconnect with themselves and find inner balance in a fast-paced world.
As the spa industry evolves, the integration of ancient spa practices with modern innovations becomes paramount. By honoring the historical significance of these traditions and embracing technological advancements, spas can offer a harmonious blend of ancient wisdom and modern comforts. The revitalization of ancient spa practices not only caters to the growing demand for holistic wellness but also serves as a reminder of our enduring connection to the past. By making these timeless rituals accessible and relevant to the modern world, spas play a vital role in preserving our collective heritage while promoting health and well-being in a rapidly changing society.

The Brain-Skin Connection:
Unraveling the Intricate Relationship between the Mind and the Skin
Les Nouvelles Esthetiques no’98 10
The human body is a complex interplay of various systems, each functioning in harmony to maintain overall health and well-being. While the brain is traditionally associated with cognitive processes and emotions, recent research has uncovered a fascinating connection between the brain and the largest organ of the body: the skin.
The brain-skin connection, also known as psychodermatology, highlights the intricate relationship between mental states and skin conditions. We aim to explore the emerging field of psychodermatology, shedding light on how psychological factors can influence skin health and disorders. By delving into the neurobiology, stress response, and various psychological conditions affecting the skin, we will uncover the profound impact that the brain-skin connection can have on our overall health and quality of life.
Neurobiology of the Brain-Skin Connection
The brain-skin connection begins with the neurobiology underlying the interaction between the central nervous system and the skin. The brain and skin share a common embryological origin, and both develop from the ectoderm during early fetal development. This connection persists throughout life, as the skin remains innervated by a dense network of sensory nerves that relay information back to the brain.
The brain influences the skin through various pathways, including the hypothalamic-pituitaryadrenal (HPA) axis, autonomic nervous system, and neuropeptides. When the brain perceives stress or emotional triggers, it activates the HPA axis, leading to the release of stress hormones like cortisol. These hormones can impact the skin by increasing inflammation, disrupting the skin barrier function, and altering sebum production, thus contributing to conditions such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema.
Stress and Skin Disorders
Stress is a significant psychological factor that can profoundly affect the skin. Chronic stress can lead to a dysregulation of the HPA axis, resulting in an overproduction of cortisol and subsequent inflammation in the skin. Studies have linked chronic stress to worsened symptoms in various skin disorders, including acne, atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis.
Acne, a common skin condition, is known to be influenced by psychological stress. Stress triggers the release of neuropeptides and pro-inflammatory molecules, aggravating existing acne lesions and promoting the formation of new ones. Moreover, stress-induced changes in sebum composition can create an environment conducive to bacterial overgrowth, further exacerbating acne.
Atopic dermatitis, characterized by itchy and inflamed skin, is another condition influenced by stress. Stress activates the release of substance P, a neuropeptide that intensifies the itch-scratch cycle. Consequently, individuals with atopic dermatitis may experience worsened symptoms during periods of heightened stress.
Psoriasis, an autoimmune skin disorder, is also affected by psychological stress. Stress can trigger flare-ups and exacerbate existing symptoms. The immune dysregulation associated with stress may contribute to the increased production of inflammatory cytokines, which are implicated in psoriatic skin lesions.
Psychological Conditions and Skin Disorders
Psychological conditions such as anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can have a profound impact on skin health. Anxiety and depression are associated with increased systemic inflammation, which can contribute to skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and chronic urticaria.
In addition to systemic effects, psychological conditions can directly affect the skin through behaviors like scratching, picking, or excessive cleansing. Dermatillomania, also known as skin picking disorder, is a condition characterized by recurrent picking of the skin, leading to tissue damage. This compulsive behavior often arises from underlying anxiety or obsessive-compulsive tendencies and can result in scarring, infection, and delayed wound healing.
Furthermore, psychotropic medications used to treat various psychological disorders can sometimes have adverse dermatological effects. For instance, certain antidepressants may cause dry skin, photosensitivity, or even allergic reactions.
Treatment Approaches and Future Directions
Recognizing the intricate relationship between the brain and the skin opens up new avenues for treatment and management of skin disorders. Psychodermatology offers a multidisciplinary approach, involving dermatologists, psychiatrists, and psychologists, to address both the physical and psychological aspects of skin conditions.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and stressmanagement techniques are commonly employed in psychodermatology to help patients cope with stress, manage emotions, and develop healthier behavioral patterns. Additionally, mindfulness-based interventions and relaxation techniques have shown promise in reducing stress-related skin symptoms.
Pharmacological interventions such as low-dose antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications may be prescribed in certain cases to manage both the
psychological and dermatological symptoms effectively. However, individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient's specific needs are crucial.
As the field of psychodermatology continues to evolve, further research is needed to explore the intricate mechanisms underlying the brain-skin connection. By understanding these mechanisms, novel therapeutic targets can be identified, leading to more effective treatments for skin conditions influenced by psychological factors.
The brain-skin connection highlights the undeniable link between psychological well-being and skin health. Psychological stress, anxiety, and depression can exacerbate existing skin conditions or trigger the development of new ones. Recognizing and addressing the psychological aspects of skin disorders through psychodermatology can provide comprehensive care and improve patients' overall quality of life. As research progresses, it is crucial to continue exploring the neurobiological mechanisms underlying the brain-skin connection to develop innovative treatment approaches that integrate both physical and psychological interventions.

Unveiling the Potential of Anti-Aging Molecules
Aging is an inevitable biological process that affects all living organisms. Over the years, scientists have been exploring various approaches to counteract and slow down the effects of aging. One promising avenue in the field of anti-aging research is the identification and study of molecules that exhibit anti-aging properties. These molecules have shown great potential in extending lifespan and improving overall health in model organisms. In this article, we will delve into the fascinating world of anti-aging molecules, exploring their mechanisms of action, potential benefits, and the challenges associated with their development.
The Science behind Anti-Aging Molecules
Anti-aging molecules encompass a wide range of compounds that target various biological processes associated with aging. These molecules can act on different levels, including cellular, genetic, and metabolic pathways. One class of molecules that has gained significant attention is the polyphenols, which are found in many natural sources such as fruits, vegetables, and tea. Polyphenols possess strong antioxidant properties, protecting cells from oxidative stress and inflammation, both of which contribute to aging.
Another promising group of anti-aging molecules are sirtuins. Sirtuins are a class of proteins that regulate important cellular processes, including DNA repair, metabolism, and stress response. Activation of sirtuins has been shown to extend lifespan in various organisms. Resveratrol, a compound found in red wine and grapes, is known to activate sirtuins and has been extensively studied for its anti-aging effects.
Furthermore, other molecules such as rapamycin, metformin, and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide
(NAD+) precursors like nicotinamide riboside (NR) have also shown promise in extending lifespan and improving healthspan in experimental models. These molecules target specific pathways involved in aging, including the mTOR pathway, energy metabolism, and cellular stress response.
Potential Benefits and Applications
The exploration of anti-aging molecules holds great promise for improving human health and extending lifespan. In addition to their potential to delay the aging process, these molecules have shown positive effects on age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, neurodegenerative conditions, and metabolic syndromes.
Studies have demonstrated that certain anti-aging molecules can improve cognitive function, increase physical endurance, and enhance overall vitality. For instance, resveratrol has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, reduce inflammation, and enhance insulin sensitivity. Rapamycin, another antiaging molecule, has been found to enhance immune function and protect against age-related diseases.
Moreover, the application of anti-aging molecules extends beyond pharmaceutical interventions.
Nutraceuticals and dietary supplements containing these compounds are increasingly popular among health-conscious individuals. However, it is important to note that further research is needed to determine the optimal dosages and potential side effects associated with long-term use.
Challenges and Future Directions
While the field of anti-aging molecules offers exciting prospects, there are several challenges that
researchers face in their development. One of the major obstacles is translating the findings from preclinical studies to human trials, as the effectiveness and safety of these molecules in humans can vary significantly.
Furthermore, the complexity of aging and its underlying mechanisms make it difficult to pinpoint a single molecule or pathway as a universal antiaging solution. Combining different molecules or targeting multiple pathways may be necessary for optimal results.
Ethical considerations also come into play when discussing the use of anti-aging molecules. Questions surrounding the availability and affordability of these interventions, as well as their potential impact on social structures, need to be addressed.
Looking ahead, the future of anti-aging research lies in a multidisciplinary approach, integrating genetics, epigenetics, and systems biology. Harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning may also aid in the identification of new anti-aging molecules and their mechanisms of action.
Anti-aging molecules offer a promising avenue for improving healthspan and extending lifespan. Polyphenols, sirtuins, rapamycin, metformin, and NAD+ precursors are among the key molecules showing potential anti-aging effects. These molecules target various cellular pathways involved in aging and have demonstrated positive impacts on agerelated diseases. While challenges remain in translating these findings to human applications, the field of anti-aging research continues to evolve, providing hope for a future where aging is better understood and interventions to slow down its effects become a reality.

In today's fast-paced world, many individuals find it challenging to carve out time for self-care and relaxation. However, the desire to look and feel their best remains strong. This is where time-sensitive spa and skincare treatments come into play, offering busy clients the opportunity to enjoy express treatments that deliver visible results in less than 30 minutes. LNE, explores the importance of these treatments in catering to the needs of time-strapped individuals, discuss popular express treatments across various spa and skincare disciplines, and provide insights into the benefits they offer.
Express treatments, typically completed within 30 minutes or less, have gained popularity due to their ability to provide quick rejuvenation and effective results. These treatments not only address specific concerns but also offer a refreshing break from the daily grind. Whether it's a quick facial, a targeted massage, or a focused skincare treatment, clients can experience the benefits of self-care without compromising their time commitments.
Popular Express Treatments for Busy Clients
Mini Facials: Mini facials are designed to provide a condensed version of a traditional facial, delivering maximum benefits in a shorter time frame. Why Niacinamide Is Trending Again?
By Dr Alek Nikolic - SkinMiles
In the ever-changing world of skincare, trendy ingredients come and go (and come back again). Niacinamide is an ingredient we’ve loved for some time now, and it’s in the spotlight again recently with TikTok skinfluencers raving about how it’s literally transformed their complexion. According to Dr Alek Nikolic, this is because it’s proven to work on so many skin issues, from softening fine lines and brightening skin to improving hydration and supporting the skin barrier (who doesn’t love a multitasker?).
Whether you already have a product with niacinamide in your bathroom cabinet or are completely new to the ingredient, it’s always a good idea to learn about what you’re putting on your skin, so let’s get to it, shall we?
What exactly is niacinamide, and how does it benefit the skin?
Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 found in foods such as meat, eggs, milk, fish and dark, leafy greens. Like other B vitamins, it’s essential for proper cell function in all parts of the body. So what does that mean for your skin? Niacinamide has been shown to be beneficial to the skin both when taken orally and used topically. Ahead, we dive deeper into the topical skin benefits of vitamin B3:
• Brightens hyperpigmentation: It helps improve discolouration by blocking tyrosinase, the key enzyme responsible for excess pigment production.
• Fortifies the skin barrier: It boosts the natural production of ceramides — aka lipids, or fats — in your skin, thus improving the skin’s barrier function.
• Hydrates: By supporting the skin’s barrier, it also helps protect against moisture loss and leaves skin hydrated.
• Keeps skin youthful: It’s been shown to reverse and prevent signs of ageing skin by increasing collagen production and decreasing UV damage as an antioxidant.
• Treats acne: It helps balance sebum production and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, making it a great ingredient for those with acneprone skin.
• Calms: Its anti-inflammatory properties make it ideal for soothing skin conditions like rosacea and eczema.
How should I use niacinamide?
Since it’s so well-tolerated by all skin types, you can safely use niacinamide in your morning and evening routine, every day of the week. That said, while the ingredient doesn’t tend to cause irritation, it’s still a good idea to start with a concentration of 2-5% and increase if needed.
As for when to use it in your routine, it’s found in all kinds of skincare products, from serums to moisturisers
and cleansers, so it all depends on what form you’re using. In case you’ve forgotten, here’s the exact order to apply your skincare products:
Are there any ingredients I shouldn’t mix with niacinamide?
Another great thing about this popular ingredient is that it plays well with other skin-brightening antioxidants, like vitamin C (which is why they’re frequently used together in products). Research also shows that the way niacinamide keeps skin calm can even help counteract any irritation caused by active ingredients like retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids.
SkinMiles: Your Personal Skincare Destination
SkinMiles opened its doors in November 2015 after Dr Alek Nikolic realised that doctor-only recommended products with active ingredients were difficult to access. Dr Alek also realised that many people are not sure which products or ingredients to use for their skin types and skin concerns. “SkinMiles was created to allow for more convenient access to doctor recommended active ingredients, and to provide honest, reliable and effective advice for a personalised skin regime, to everyone.”

9 Wellness Trends That Are Changing the Way You Spa
By Caroline Tell - Sunday Edit
Les Nouvelles Esthetiques no’98 26
Whether you’ve been a regular spa-goer for years or see it as a special treat, the spa is a form of selfcare for many of us. What makes the experience exciting every time is that the spa industry is constantly pivoting with improvements, advancements, and new trends that promise to reform us from the inside out. The pandemic has created a vast shift in what people look for out of a spa experience, their expectations of facials and bodywork, and their comfort levels in close quarters to strangers. According to experts, here are some of the spa trends you might notice that shift within wellness culture.
A Wider Variety Of Customized Treatments
Gone are the days when you walk into a spa, pick a simple treatment off a menu and leave. According to Denise LaPalm, spas have already been offering a holistic approach to the body and mind, too. And this will only become a deeper part of a spa’s DNA in the coming year. “Personal treatments for guests who feel tired or stressed out, depressed, are fighting an illness, or have aches and pains will help to differentiate spas and make their guests feel more special,” she says.
Quick, No-downtime Treatments
With an increased online presence, enhanced filtering and the need to wear a mask in public, many cut back on the amount of makeup they applied because it wasn’t necessary anymore. However, even with less foundation and cover-up, many still chase after that flawless, perfect complexion, making skincare treatments highly demanding for many spas.
Shawnda Dorantes MSN, APRN, FNP-C has noticed a greater desire for quick, no-downtime treatments. This means the end of ‘musky chemical peels that leave your face sensitive and inflamed’ and the beginning of the ‘spa day on your lunch hour’ crowd. “This is fairly unsurprising as we live in a fast-paced culture centered around immediate gratification,” she notes
This type of treatment could be what Dorantes calls ‘baby Botox’ when younger patients seek this injectible as a preventive measure. “Instead of waiting until they already have fine lines and wrinkles that they want to treat, they are starting the treatment first to prevent those fine lines and wrinkles from forming,” she says. “There’s a heightened demand for this, especially in the eye area, as this area tends to show signs of aging first. In addition, this trend seems to fall under the natural, make-up-free skin trend because as people spend more time makeup free, they’re able to notice any preliminary signs of aging that they want to prevent from worsening.”
An Uptick In Natural Ingredients
With the cost of inflation skyrocketing, more people are turning towards natural sugar scrubs, soaps, and salt polishes, according to Claudine S. Riemer.
In addition to being generally more affordable, people are also becoming more mindful of what they put in — and on! — their bodies. “The environment is a big player here as well: choosing natural ingredients is a way to take care of the earth by avoiding damaging chemical compounds from being absorbed into our body and washed away into the earth,” she adds. In reaction to this trend, Riemer predicts more spas will want to draw a higher emphasis on where their ingredients come from.
Treatments That Strengthen Muscles
A big trend in medical spas is devices and treatments that work in a whole new way, according to Brian Nourian. So instead of erasing imperfections, why not heal yourself from the inside out? Or giving your face a workout to build strength?
With Emsculpt Neo and Evolve Transform, you can get rid of unwanted fat and build muscle in one treatment. And as Nourian explains, feeling stronger can help people with more than aesthetics.
“In the next few months, there will be a new device called Emface from BTL Aesthetics, and we foresee it taking over because it will also focus on strengthening the facial muscles. This gives faceliftlike results without going under the knife,” he predicts.
“People love pairing them with their already healthy lifestyles of working out and eating healthy. These treatments are a real boost if you add them to your current workout routines since they will speed up your goals.”
Implementing An Element Of Nature
Riemer predicts more spas will offer a natural element as part of their services. “We will see more outdoor type therapies and treatments that involve the ocean, the wild desert or forests, allowing people to reconnect with themselves and mother nature,” she predicts. “Spas will embody more of an ethnobotanical ethos, bringing guests outdoors into open-air treatment facilities that allow an immersion of nature.”
A Resurgence In Bathhouse Culture
Did you know the word ‘spa’ comes from a bathing town in Belgium? It’s an acronym for ‘Salus per aquam,’ which translates to ‘health through water.’ And in the 1990s, when spas gained popularity in the United States, they needed to have a water feature (a Vichy shower, hydrotherapy tub, and so on) to be considered an authentic ‘spa experience,’ according to Lisa Starr.
Though water hasn’t been essential for many years (there are even water-free pedicures!), Starr predicts a resurgence in bathhouse culture. As she explains, the healing powers of water are well-documented, but these new iterations also highlight the element of community.
“Throughout the U.S., there are hot springs locations
where you can enjoy warm thermal waters, alone or with friends, at any time of year, but we are now seeing bathing experiences brought into suburban and even urban environments,” she continues. “Think of a fitness center hot tub experience on steroids.
Pools with cascading streams and jets, warm and hot options, steam rooms, tepidariums, saunas, cold plunges, and loungers to rest on before taking another dip, are popping up all over.”
Higher Demand For Touchless Services
Contactless treatment offers increased due to safety and well, to save on labor costs, according to Vance Soto. These include meditation salt booths, sound baths, LED light bed services, meditation pods, private baths, hydrotherapy, infrared blankets and saunas, float pods — and more! Even as more people are willing to be up-close-and-personal again, “These services are a win-win all around because the investment is in the equipment but offers the guest a service they want that’s human-less but still enables the guest to maintain their wellness routine,” he says. “These will become more mainstream and part of wellness routines.”
The Downfall Of Niche Centers
Starr says the last decade has seen tremendous specialization in all aspects of business, including beauty and wellness. This might mean a spa that only offers waxing, facials, or massages. And later, only nails, lash extensions, or blow-dry bars. However, in several difficult years for the wellness industry, many consumers have been inspired to rethink their priorities and time management. In other words: Starr doesn’t believe customers will want to have to visit four different places to meet their beauty and wellness needs. Instead, they’ll seek a one-stop shop.
“Expanded treatment menus may have options for face, body, massage, hair, nails, waxing, and even unattended wellness options,” she continues. “You may discover a spa with a juice bar component, movement therapy, or yoga studio incorporating a few spa treatment rooms or meditation rooms. It’s certainly easier to visit one location for more purposes, and you may discover something you didn’t realize you needed in your life.”
Bodywork Becomes A Necessity, Not A Luxury
Believe it or not, Soto says his bodywork business has doubled since before the pandemic. “I think people have realized how important taking care of themself and their body has become,” he continues. “We have more regulars than ever before for massage and bodywork. Guests that once considered it a ‘luxury’ have changed their perspective to view it as more of a necessity.”

Aesthetic Thread Lifting: The
Collagen-Boosting Trend Revolutionizing Beauty
In the ever-evolving world of beauty and aesthetics, new trends emerge to enhance our physical appearance. One such trend gaining significant popularity is aesthetic thread lifting. This innovative procedure harnesses the power of collagen to lift and rejuvenate the skin, providing a non-surgical facelift solution. With its remarkable results and minimal downtime, aesthetic thread lifting has become a go-to option for individuals seeking a youthful and radiant appearance.
Understanding Aesthetic Thread Lifting
Aesthetic thread lifting is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure designed to lift sagging facial skin and stimulate collagen production. It involves the insertion of biocompatible threads into the skin to create a supportive structure, resulting in a natural lift and tightening effect. These threads are typically made of polydioxanone (PDO), a material that has been used safely in various medical applications for many years.
During the procedure, a trained aesthetic professional strategically inserts the threads into the skin's underlying layers. As the threads are gently pulled, they lift the targeted areas, improving the appearance of sagging cheeks, jowls, and necklines.
Additionally, the threads stimulate the production of collagen, a protein responsible for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. This collagen boost further enhances the skin's texture and overall youthful appearance.
Benefits of Aesthetic Thread Lifting
Aesthetic thread lifting offers numerous benefits, making it an attractive option for those seeking a non-surgical facelift. Some key advantages of this procedure include:
Non-surgical nature: Aesthetic thread lifting provides a non-invasive alternative to traditional facelift surgery. It requires no incisions, resulting in minimal scarring and a quicker recovery period. Patients can often resume their regular activities shortly after the procedure.
Natural-looking results: The threads used in aesthetic thread lifting create a subtle and natural lift, making the outcome appear authentic. The procedure enhances the skin's texture, firmness, and contour, providing a rejuvenated appearance without an overtly artificial look.
Collagen stimulation: A significant advantage of aesthetic thread lifting is its ability to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a vital protein that diminishes with age, leading to sagging skin and wrinkles. By encouraging the natural production of collagen, thread lifting helps restore firmness and elasticity to the skin, resulting in long-term improvements.
Versatility: Aesthetic thread lifting can be applied to various facial areas, including the brows, cheeks, jowls, and necklines. The versatility of the procedure allows for customized treatments tailored to each individual's specific needs and concerns.
Minimal downtime: Compared to surgical facelifts, aesthetic thread lifting involves minimal downtime. Most patients experience minimal bruising or swelling, which typically resolves within a few days. The quick recovery time makes this procedure ideal for individuals with busy lifestyles.
The Rise of Aesthetic
Thread Lifting
Aesthetic thread lifting has gained significant traction in recent years due to its effectiveness and versatility. Here are some factors contributing to its rise as a popular trend in the beauty industry:
Social media influence: The power of social media platforms cannot be overlooked when discussing the popularity of aesthetic trends. Influencers and celebrities have played a crucial role in showcasing the benefits and results of aesthetic thread lifting, creating a buzz among their followers.
Non-surgical alternatives: Aesthetic thread lifting offers a safe and effective solution without the risks and extended recovery associated with surgery. It appeals to a broad demographic of people who want to enhance their appearance but prefer less invasive options.
Collagen-focused approach: As people become more aware of the role collagen plays in maintaining youthful skin, procedures that stimulate collagen production have gained attention. Aesthetic thread lifting's ability to boost collagen levels aligns with the growing demand for collagen-based treatments.
Long-lasting effects: Aesthetic thread lifting provides long-lasting results that can endure up to a year or more. This durability, combined with the procedure's non-surgical nature, makes it an attractive option for those seeking a sustainable and less time-consuming beauty enhancement.
Aesthetic thread lifting has become a revolutionary trend in the beauty industry, offering individuals a non-surgical facelift solution with remarkable results. By utilizing biocompatible threads and stimulating collagen production, this procedure provides a natural lift, firmness, and rejuvenation to the skin. With benefits such as minimal downtime, versatility, and long-lasting effects, aesthetic thread lifting has garnered immense popularity. As more individuals seek non-invasive alternatives to traditional facelifts, it is likely that this collagen-boosting trend will continue to shape the future of aesthetics, empowering people to achieve their desired youthful and radiant appearance.

Oil Bathing/Showering is Trending as a Dry Skin Remedy
In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in ancient beauty and wellness practices. One such practice that has gained popularity is oil bathing or oil showering. This traditional technique, rooted in ancient Ayurvedic principles, is hailed as a remedy for dry skin and a luxurious self-care ritual. In this article, we will explore the benefits, methods, and oils used in oil bathing, shedding light on why it has become a trending dry skin remedy.
Understanding Dry Skin
Dry skin is a common condition that affects people of all ages. It occurs when the skin loses moisture, leading to tightness, flaking, itching, and an overall dull appearance. Factors such as environmental conditions, genetics, age, and lifestyle choices can contribute to dry skin. While there are numerous skincare products available, some individuals seek natural alternatives that have been trusted for centuries.
The Tradition of Oil Bathing
Oil bathing has its origins in Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine and holistic well-being. According to Ayurveda, oil bathing, known as "Abhyanga," is an essential part of a daily self-care routine. Abhyanga involves applying warm oil to the body, massaging it in gentle, rhythmic motions, and allowing the oil to penetrate the skin.
Benefits of Oil Bathing/Showering for Dry Skin
Deep Hydration: The primary benefit of oil bathing is its ability to deeply moisturize the skin. The oils used in this practice have emollient properties, helping to seal in moisture and prevent water loss from the skin.
Nourishment and Softening: Natural oils, such as coconut, almond, or sesame oil, are rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants. These components nourish and soften the skin, improving its texture and leaving it supple and smooth.
Skin Barrier Protection: Dry skin often has a compromised skin barrier, making it more susceptible to external irritants. Regular oil bathing can enhance the skin's natural barrier function, protecting it from harsh environmental factors and reducing the risk of moisture loss.
Calming and Soothing: Oil bathing is a deeply relaxing practice that promotes overall well-being. The gentle massage involved in the process helps relieve muscle tension and promote relaxation, reducing stress levels that can contribute to skin dryness.
Methods of Oil Bathing/Showering
There are two main methods for incorporating oil bathing into your routine: pre-bath and post-bath oiling.
Pre-Bath Oiling: In this method, warm oil is applied to the entire body before taking a bath or shower. The oil is gently massaged into the skin, allowing it to penetrate deeply. This technique helps to cleanse the skin while retaining its natural moisture.
Post-Bath Oiling: Alternatively, after a bath or shower, while the skin is still slightly damp, oil is applied and massaged onto the skin. The moisture from the water helps the oil spread easily and aids absorption, leaving the skin hydrated and glowing.
Best Oils for Oil Bathing/Showering
Coconut Oil: Known for its excellent moisturizing properties, coconut oil is a popular choice for oil bathing. It contains lauric acid, which has antimicrobial properties, making it suitable for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Almond Oil: Almond oil is rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, and fatty acids. It is easily absorbed, making it suitable for all skin types. Almond oil helps soothe and soften the skin, reducing dryness and promoting a healthy glow.
Sesame Oil: Sesame oil is commonly used in Ayurvedic practices. It is highly nourishing and helps balance the skin's natural oils. Sesame oil also has antibacterial properties that can benefit individuals with skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
Jojoba Oil: Although technically a liquid wax, jojoba oil is an excellent choice for oil bathing. It closely resembles the skin's natural sebum, making it easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue. Jojoba oil helps regulate oil production, making it suitable for oily and acne-prone skin as well.
Oil bathing or oil showering has reemerged as a trending dry skin remedy, drawing inspiration from the ancient practices of Ayurveda. This luxurious self-care ritual offers deep hydration, nourishment, and protection for dry skin. Whether you choose to incorporate oil bathing as a pre-bath or post-bath routine, the selection of natural oils such as coconut, almond, sesame, or jojoba oil can provide a soothing and rejuvenating experience. By embracing this traditional technique, you can indulge in a timehonored practice that helps restore your skin's natural glow and maintain its overall health and well-being.

Unveiling the Magic of Skincare Water Peels: Achieve Radiant Skin with Aqua Peels
In the quest for flawless and radiant skin, skincare enthusiasts are constantly seeking innovative and effective solutions. One such breakthrough in the world of skincare is the introduction of water peels, also known as aqua peels.
These cutting-edge treatments offer a gentle and non-invasive approach to exfoliation and rejuvenation, leaving the skin looking refreshed and revitalized. The concept of water peels, delve into their benefits, and uncover the science behind their effectiveness.
Understanding Water Peels
Water peels, or aqua peels, are advanced skincare treatments that utilize the power of water-based solutions to exfoliate the skin. Unlike traditional chemical peels, which often involve harsh acids, water peels employ a combination of hydrating serums and gentle exfoliation techniques to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and reveal a fresh layer of skin. This process is typically performed using a specialized device that delivers a controlled stream of water infused with nourishing ingredients onto the skin's surface.
The Benefits of Water Peels
Gentle Exfoliation: Water peels offer a milder alternative to traditional exfoliation methods, making them suitable for individuals with sensitive skin. The water stream gently dislodges impurities and sloughs off dead skin cells without causing irritation or redness.
Deep Cleansing: The water-based solution used in aqua peels effectively penetrates the pores, flushing out dirt, excess oil, and debris. This deep cleansing action helps to minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, reduce blackheads and whiteheads, and promote a clearer complexion.
Hydration Boost: Water peels are infused with hydrating serums that penetrate the skin during the treatment process. These serums typically contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which attract and retain moisture, leaving the skin plump, supple, and well-nourished.
Skin Rejuvenation: By stimulating cellular turnover and promoting collagen production, water peels contribute to skin rejuvenation. The removal of dead skin cells and the infusion of revitalizing serums help to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin tone.
The Science Behind Water Peels
Water peels operate on the principle of controlled exfoliation and hydration. The device used in these treatments combines a gentle stream of water with the application of customized serums to address specific skin concerns.
The exfoliation aspect of water peels involves a process called hydrodermabrasion. The water stream works to dislodge impurities and dead skin cells, while the gentle suction mechanism lifts away the debris, resulting in a deep yet non-aggressive exfoliation.
The hydration component is achieved through the infusion of serums during the treatment. These serums are formulated with potent ingredients such as antioxidants, vitamins, and peptides, which are delivered to the skin at a deeper level due to the exfoliation process. This infusion provides long-lasting hydration, promotes healing, and nourishes the skin.
The combination of exfoliation and hydration in water peels triggers a cascade of skin-renewing processes, including enhanced blood circulation, collagen synthesis, and cellular turnover. As a result, the skin becomes more radiant, smoother, and more youthful-looking.
Water peels, or aqua peels, have emerged as a game-changer in the realm of skincare, offering a gentler and more effective approach to exfoliation and rejuvenation. With their ability to cleanse, hydrate, and promote skin renewal, water peels cater to a wide range of skin concerns, making them suitable for individuals with various skin types.
By incorporating water peels into your skincare routine, you can expect to achieve a clearer complexion, diminished signs of aging, and a revitalized skin texture. However, it is essential to consult with a skincare professional or dermatologist to determine the best treatment plan for your specific needs.
Unlock the magic of water peels and experience the transformative power of this innovative skincare technique. Embrace the radiance that lies beneath the surface and reveal your most beautiful skin with aqua peels.

The Best Colored Sleep Noises for a Restful Night
You may have heard of white noise, or if you use TikTok, you may have seen users sharing their sleep hacks with brown, green, or even blue noise. These sounds can benefit sleepby blocking out bothersome noises and relax the mind with its constant, staticlike tones. White noise isn’t the only sonic hue—pink, blue, grey, and brown all affect listeners in different ways, and there is increasing evidence to support the sleep-inducing qualities of these sounds.
Sleep experts at Best Mattress Brand have helped to clarify the color confusion and advise anyone who may struggle to sleep on the best noise to help them drift off.
White Noise
White noise is an audible sound frequency that can help you relax and encourage a good night’s sleep. In a recent study, adults fell asleep?38 percent faster?while listening to white noise. Other recent studies have continued to find white noise positively affects sleep.
Pink Noise
The problem with white noise is that all the frequencies come through at the same intensity. Pink noise attempts to solve this issue for people who find white noise too unpleasant by creating a louder low frequency with softer high ends, this makes it slightly smoother than white noise. Studies have shown that pink noise not only aids people in getting to sleep but also has positive influences in supporting deep sleep and memory.
Brown Noise
Brown noise has been at the forefront of online discussions recently, with sleep hacks such as those trending on TikTok garnering 84.3 million views for videos featuring the hashtag. Brown noise is a deeper and stronger tone. The lower frequencies can block out external noise while soothing the mind and making it easier for people to sleep. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest that brown noise can help block out the internal monologue that many people experience, especially at night when we have no other distractions to keep our minds from wandering.
Green Noise
Green noise is a variation of white noise in the middle of the spectrum. As the name insinuates, it utilizes similar sounds to that you may hear in nature. Green noise can help restore calm and promote relaxation. It does this by providing a “sound mask” to other ideas, feelings, sensations, and sensory experiences. Because green noise is more pleasing, it may be a more appealing choice than the typical white noise. Much like brown noise, green has been taking social media by storm as a new TikTok sleep trend as many people share their positive experiences utilizing it for a better night’s sleep.
Blue Noise
The energy of blue noise is primarily concentrated at the high-frequency end, so there are very few deep tones to balance it out. It almost sounds like water spraying out of a hose nozzle. Blue noise performs a wonderful job of severely disguising

outside noises if you’re not sensitive to high-pitched sounds. There has been little scientific research into the effectiveness of blue noise, in comparison to its color wheel counterparts. However, that’s not to say it’s not worth trying if some of the other sounds aren’t as useful.
According to experts at ?Best Mattress Brand, one in five?people struggle to get to sleep, and a lack of sleep can have many negative impacts on mental and physical health. Colored noises might be the trick to help you finally get a good night’s sleep. White noise is the most researched and popular. However, it may not be suited to many people, and thus research highlights the other colors you can try that may be more sleep inducing than white noise.
Along with the noise, it is recommended that you engage in a healthy bedtime routine, such as avoiding screens 30 minutes before bed, eating good foods, and optimizing your sleep space to maximize the effectiveness of these sleep aids. Sleep is key to living a healthy life, and these noises could help you get the sleep that your body and mind need.

Scalp Detox
Skincare routines have officially become an obsession — you can spend hours falling down the internet rabbit hole of natural products, cutting-edge skin science and 15-step skincare routines. But no matter how packed your medicine cabinet is with serums, moisturizers and every variety of face oils, there is one major area of your skin you are likely neglecting: your scalp.
“A healthy scalp is as important for healthy hair as healthy gums are for healthy teeth,” says David Kingsley, Ph.D., a board-certified trichologist (aka a scalp care specialist) and member of the World Trichology Society.
Just like the skin on your face, neglecting your scalp can have unwanted consequences — think dandruff, clogged pores and infections. “This can have a very big impact on the hair follicle,” says Penny James, founder of Penny James Salon and a member of the International Association of Trichology. “It can become clogged and this can cause hair loss. Aside from that, your hair will start to look limp, may be clumpy and dull-looking,” she says.
Preventing these sad scalp effects is not just about making sure you wash your hair regularly. “There are many things that can cause scalp problems: Stress levels, diet, beauty routine,” James explains. Even the sun. “Just like your facial skin, your scalp needs protection from harmful UV rays,” says Kerry Yates, a trichologist and founder ofColour Collective.
“Women especially will experience some level of burning — especially on the part-line. This leads to inflammation and follicle challenges.”
So how can you avoid scalp issues? Showing your scalp some extra love isn’t complicated, according to the trichology experts.
innovation
It starts with using scalp friendly products daily, such as the right shampoo and conditioner for your specific scalp and hair conditions or soothing leaveon treatments like theOribe one. “If you know you are prone to dandruff, using a salicylic acid-based shampoo is helpful to stop the redness and itchiness,” James explains. If your scalp is dry, look for products that “add moisture, suppleness and nourishment to the scalp and hair,” she says. For scalps that tend to get oily quickly (or if you notice blocked hair follicles, similar to blackheads, Yates recommends using a clarifying shampoo to massage the scalp “for a full five minutes” in the shower.
On top of your daily care, there are a lot of scalp “detox” products out there, which can be useful to add to your weekly routine. James recommends doing a scalp detox treatment twice a week if you are having scalp issues. “to help with the balance of nutrients, hygiene, repairing damaged skin tissue, and in restoring needed moisture on the scalp.”
Just don’t go overboard with harsh “detoxification” ingredients like charcoals, adds Yates — even some natural exfoliants like sugar scrubs can be too harsh if you have sensitive skin. “Just like your facial skin your scalp can be quite sensitive,” she says. “Harsh ingredients can strip the scalp of its natural oils and good bacteria and leave it quite irritated.” A good rule of thumb: if you tend to stay away from harsh skincare products, use caution around harsh scalpcare products as well. Once your scalp is in balance, James recommends using treatments with a blend of extracts from two types of algae and other botanical growth-stimulating ingredients. ”It’s used to heal, repair and regenerate scalp tissue.”
Finally, beware of dry shampoo, which is a recipe for clogged hair follicles. “If you use dry shampoo to stop your hair from looking oily, make sure you
are still washing your hair at least four times per week to stop the powder build-up on the scalp,”
So, when your scalp needs a little extra TLC (like when you’re in the midst of a days’ long affair with that bottle of dry shampoo), trichologists recommend some specific scalp-care products. Here are some of their favorites designed to troubleshoot your trickiest scalp issues.
1. Instant Scalp Soother
“To prevent your scalp from getting ‘tight,’ try using a soft brush to help stimulate and gently massage the scalp,” Yates says. She loves a hand-crafted natural bristle brushes, “The flexible cushion of natural bristles gently massages the scalp and move the scalp’s natural oils from the roots to the midlengths and ends.” Just don’t brush too hard, she says. “Think gentle sweeps vs. rough and aggressive.”
2. Exfoliating Scalp Mask
A trichology scalp treatment that helps exfoliate the scalp, removes any follicle clogging, and feels refreshing for the scalp,” Kingsley says.
3. Dandruff Soother
A leave-in anti-microbial solution mixed with aloe vera instantly treats and soothes an itchy, irritated scalp.
4. Leave-in Moisture Booster
“We are coming onto the winter season, which means drier climates and drier scalps,” Yates says. To keep your scalp in balance, she loves a Leavein Moisturiser.
5. Scalp Sun Protector
As Yates pointed out, UV damage can aggravate your scalp — just like you protect your face, be sure to protect the skin on your scalp as well.

DrK has a revolutionary approach towards slowing down the AGING PROCESS!!
The DrK brand of cellCEUTICALS works on the brain, gut, and skin which are all interconnected through a complex network of nerves, hormones, and other signaling molecules. This network is known as the brain-gut-skin axis, and it plays a crucial role in the aging process.
One of the primary functions of the brain-gut-skin axis is to regulate the body's immune system. As we age, our immune systems become less effective at fighting off infections and diseases. However, the brain-gut-skin axis can help to support immune function by regulating the production of immune cells and signaling molecules.
Another important role of the brain-gut-skin axis is to regulate inflammation. Inflammation is a natural part of the body's immune response, but chronic inflammation can contribute to a wide range of agerelated diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. The brain-gutskin axis can help to regulate inflammation by controlling the levels of pro-inflammatory and antiinflammatory signaling molecules.
Finally, the brain-gut-skin axis plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and integrity of the skin. As we age, our skin becomes less elastic, more prone
to damage, and more susceptible to infection. The brain-gut-skin axis can help to support skin health by regulating the production of collagen and other structural proteins, as well as by controlling the levels of inflammation and oxidative stress in the skin.
The brain-gut-skin axis plays a critical role in the aging process by regulating immune function, inflammation, and skin health. By supporting this interconnected network, we can help to slow the aging process and promote overall health and wellbeing.
All DrK cellREVERSE products contain a special blend of Nucleotides to sustain LIFE-COLOGY which is the study of cellular health to sustain a healthy, more youthful LIFE. Nucleotides are essential building blocks of DNA and RNA, the genetic material that carries the instructions for all cellular functions. As we age, the levels of nucleotides in our bodies start to decline, which can have a significant impact on our health and well-being.
One of the primary functions of nucleotides is to support cellular repair and regeneration. As we age, our cells become increasingly damaged and less efficient at repairing themselves. Nucleotides play a critical role in helping cells to repair DNA damage and maintain their structure and function.
In addition to supporting cellular repair, nucleotides also play a key role in immune function. As we age, our immune systems become less effective at fighting off infections and diseases. Nucleotides help to support immune function by providing the building blocks needed to produce new white blood cells and other immune cells.
Overall, the importance of nucleotides in the aging process cannot be overstated. By supporting cellular repair and immune function, nucleotides can help to slow the aging process and maintain health and vitality well into old age.
The DrK NucleoCollagen is an ALL-IN-ONE product to fight off the aging process. This product not only contains this special blend of Nucleotides but also 10 000mg of Bovine Collagen, Trans-Resveratrol (Super Antioxidant to improve brain function), all vitamins and minerals.

Nail Polish Colours Make Hands Look Years Younger
Studies have shown that women who wear nail polish are perceived to be younger than they actually are. But before you go grabbing the first bottle of polish you see, know this: Some shades can draw attention to signs of aging on your hands; others can have the opposite effect, making your hands look younger in seconds.
You may think delicate shades like nudes or sheer pinks would do the trick, but as it turns out, because natural hues are close in tone to the shade of your skin, they only allow eyes to skip right over your nails, and highlight your hands’ problem areas (think: veins, wrinkles and uneven tone) instead. However, if you’re looking to keep the attention on your nails, not your hands, think the total opposite.
Colour Code
“For younger-looking hands, orange or peach-based hues work best,” says Colette Keenan, butter LONDON national field manager, adding that shades with orange undertones, such as reds or corals, draw attention away from any signs of aging.
“Orange is a youthful, bright and uplifting color and it helps draw attention away from signs of aging hands such as age spots, veins and wrinkles,” says celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann. What’s more, Keenan adds the polish’s orange undertones will also help bring out your skin’s natural glow.
SPF Solution
To keep your hands looking youthful even without any polish, essie manicurist Michelle Saunders says it’s always a good idea to wear sunscreen on the tops of your hands.
“You add sunscreen to your face every day for sun protection and wrinkle reduction; you should be doing the same for your hands.”
Lippmann agrees, adding that because our hands are constantly exposed to sunlight, they are one of the first places sun-induced damage appears.
Shape Shift
While many of us don’t give the shape of our nails a second thought, Lippmann says we might want to start. “An oval-shaped nail helps fingers look longer, and in turn, makes hands look younger,” she explains. Another grooming tip from the pro: pay attention to your cuticles!
“Be sure to keep your fingers well-manicured,” she says.
“Clean and manicured nails—with or without polish—help hands look younger.”
Protect and Serve
For younger-looking hands, Lippmann says to grab a pair of gloves. “Always wear gloves when working with your hands—washing dishes, cleaning, etc.—so your hands don’t get dry and damaged, which over time will cause hands to age prematurely.”
Another tip: Clean your hands as you would your face, says the expert. “Exfoliate hands at least twice a week to get rid of dead skin. This will help keep hands not only smooth and soft, but fresh and bright which makes them look younger. After exfoliation, remember to moisturize.”

In conclusion, vegan nail lacquer offers a more sustainable, ethical, and safer option for nail polish enthusiasts. With plant-based ingredients that are less toxic and harmful to the environment, vegan nail lacquer is a beauty trend that is here to stay. Plus, with so many brands offering a wide range of colors and finishes, there is no need to compromise on style. So why not try a vegan nail lacquer next time you need to update your manicure? Your nails and the environment will thank you! - LNE online.
Say hello to Nature Strong™ by OPI, our firstever vegan, natural origin nail lacquer. It's made up of ingredients you can trust and doesn't require your clients to choose between performance and natural, because, well, they shouldn't have to.
We poured every effort into making a long-lasting (up to 7 days wear and tear), highly pigmented (so many bold colours!) vegan, and cruelty-free nail polish that stays on so you and your clients can stay natural. No compromise is needed!
Good-for-you ingredients
Nature Strong's formaldehyde-free, non-GMO formula is made up of good-for-you, quality plant and mineral-based ingredients like sugar cane, wheat, corn, and clay. We proudly carry the Vegan Society seal, meaning our formula is free of animalderived ingredients, chemicals, and fillers you may not want in your cruelty-free nail polish. Our bottle and cap are made with 20% PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic which means it's made with recycled materials. We didn't add any additional bleaching so you'll notice that every cap looks unique - there are imperfections like swirls of colour or melted grey plastic which creates a taupe-like colour that looks slightly different across each bottle.
What does “natural origin” mean?
Our formula is up to 75% natural origin. This means the classic lacquer ingredients that make up that portion of our formula are derived from nature instead of synthetic origins. This includes both plant and mineral-derived ingredients. We only include cosmetic ingredients with greater than 50% natural origin in our calculation which is done to the best of our knowledge in accordance with ISO standard 16128.
Is Nature Strong formulated without extra stuff?
Yes. This is a big one and something we really care about. Our natural nail lacquer is formulated without that extra stuff you may not want in your polish or on your nails. OPI Nature Strong is a formaldehydefree nail polish, as well as without formaldehyde resin, parabens, triphenyl phosphate and more.
Without the same ingredients of a regular nail
lacquer, does it perform the same?
We hear this question a lot and the answer is yes. There are a lot of lacquers on the market that are natural but don't hold up, which can be a major letdown, so it was important to us that Nature Strong delivers the same performance you love in our original Nail Lacquer. This formula still contains natural origin nitrocellulose for adhesion and offers up to 7 days of wear and shine without fading, goes on easily, and dries fast.
How many shades are there?
Our 38 brand-new shades offer a range of neutral earth tones, bright pops of colour, and bold, timeless hues in crème formulas and shimmers. Every shade was inspired by what we love about nature and will empower you to take on the world. And that's not all, we created an optional Base Coat and Top Coat designed to add extra shine and protection.

How to Attract Luxury Spa Clients
Every stakeholder in the luxury spa industry has the ultimate goal of acquiring and maintaining an elite client list. After all, they grant us the opportunity to pursue our passions in a way that we couldn’t otherwise.
Why? Because they’re the ones who can truly impact the profitability of our businesses.
In turn, it’s imperative to understand that attracting luxury spa clients is different from targeting any other audience. Today, we provide a handful of crucial insights in reaching the right client for your luxury spa business.
Quality Supersedes Cost
Research shows that some consumers equate lower pricing with poor quality. These are the clients who opt for quality over cost every time. They have the luxury of choosing superior quality over price.
As an expert in your field using the latest equipment and technology, you provide quality that your clients can’t get just anywhere. Your pricing should reflect that. Offering a “bargain” will deter luxury clients.
The Devil’s in the Details
What you charge for products and services, however, should be reflective of actual quality. As they say, “the devil’s in the details.”
Here are three small details that lend to the overall
level of quality that elite clients expect:
• A well-designed site with quality in-spa photos
• Superior customer service online and offline
• Even the type of paper you choose for printing your brochures
This clientele may not always articulate exactly what they love about their experience with you, but they will certainly notice when the effort isn’t made.
Be the Authority on Luxury Treatment
This is one piece of advice you can use in an endless number of ways. But it boils down to “authoritybased” lead generation. Find leads through sources where you demonstrate your expertise.
Here are some of the most effective methods for establishing your expert reputation.
Digital Presence is Now Standard
A luxury spa-focused blog or a treatment demonstration vlog (video log) are two ways you can solidify your place of authority on luxury spa treatments.
Consider a marketing investment for this. Your blog posts and videos should be professional, informative, and communicate effectively with this particular audience.
The transition from watching and reading about your spa to checking the event calendar, buying
By Gayle Praechtl
products, and booking appointments should also feel seamless.
In-Spa Events Have Clients Talking for Weeks
This takes a bit of planning, but hosting events at your spa can yield invaluable returns when done correctly.
Invite your current client list and include a plus-one.
Create a high-end but casual vibe.
Book a well-known treatment expert or local luxe influencer to speak about your spa.
Demo new products or treatments and offer exclusive sampling.
Provide local-area luxury targeted media with an engaging press release including dates to drive a sense of urgency to share with their audience.
Word of Mouth Referrals Abound
Your clients and their plus-ones are sure to book and purchase at-home care products while there, and they’ll be talking about the event for weeks.
Host an amazing event, make it easy to love your brand online, and your word of mouth referrals will abound.
