LETU by the numbers

1946

Meet LeTourneau (Luh-turn-oh) University. An accredited, interdenominational, Christian university founded in 1946 by world famous industrialist and inventor, Mr. R. G. LeTourneau. Home of the YellowJackets.

3,173 Student body of almost 3,200 students, comprised of over 2,800 undergraduates and nearly 300 graduate students. Around 1,500 of these students attend classes at our Longview campus.

That’s the crazy number of service hours that our students volunteer every year making their world a better place. From our backyard all the way to Bangladesh, our students have a heart for missions and for being the hands of Jesus Christ everywhere they go.

50/20/45 From all 50 states, 20 nations and 45 denominations. About half of our students call Texas home, with the other half coming from the rest of the 49 states, plus homeschoolers, international students, national merit scholars, commuters and future everythings.

With a massive menu of options in aeronautical science, engineering, education, business and the arts & sciences, we have a major for you to sink your teeth into. Some of the latest and greatest additions include nursing – health sciences, air traffic control and worship arts. No matter your major, you can count on a lot more doing things and a lot less reading about other people doing them. Oh, and our faculty members are Fulbright Scholars, working professionals, global travelers, consultants and more. Not to mention, the type to have you over for dinner and seriously care that you succeed.

On-Campus Living

Single-gender residence halls, including suites, apartments and three men’s society houses. No matter where you live, floor unity is huge, so prepare to meet some quality friends and have some talk-about-’til-you’re-90 good times.

Athletics

Thirteen varsity sports teams, including men’s basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis, as well as women’s basketball, softball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and volleyball. Member of the NCAA Division III in the American Southwest Conference.

Spiritual Life

There are countless opportunities to express and build your faith every day, including chapel services, LeTourneau Student Ministries (LSM), professor-led devotionals, student-led praise and worship and mission trips… because at LETU, Christianity equals authentic action.

Get Involved

It’s a given you’ll find your fit with more than 50 recognized student organizations to choose from and can’t-miss events brought to you by the YellowJacket Activities Council (YAC) – including YellowJacket Film Festival, intramural sports, Battle of the Bands and Hootenanny (LETU’s annual variety show).

Study Beyond Borders

Classrooms are overrated. So, take your pick. Travel abroad with our LeTourneau Empowering Global Solutions (LEGS) programs to conduct research and create sustainable solutions in visual literacy, small-plot irrigation, Bible translation, pediatric wheelchair testing and food preservation. Spend a semester in countless cool locales from Oxford to Asia, or participate in ground-breaking macroeconomics research in South America or micro-finance in Ethiopia.

U.S. News & World Report regularly lists LeTourneau University in the top tier of Comprehensive Masters Level Universities in the Western Region of the United States. In 2009, LETU’s aviation program won the rarest and oldest of all collegiate aviation awards – The Loening Trophy, which recognizes the most outstanding all-around collegiate aviation program in the nation.

Financial Aid

More than 9 out of 10 LETU traditional undergraduate students receive some form of financial aid. New freshmen may qualify for one of our prestigious merit awards. Financial aid at LETU includes grants, scholarships, work study and student loans. The only way to know if you qualify is to apply! Go to www.fafsa.gov to get started.

LETU academic awards for entering freshmen include the Presidential Scholarship ($11,000: $44,000 over four years), Deans Scholarship ($9,500: $38,000 over four years) and Honors Scholarship ($8,000: $32,000 over four years).
