HEALTH SCIENCES / NURSING The dual-degree nursing program partnership between the LeTourneau University School of Arts and Sciences and the University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences makes it easy for you to combine your flair for science, heart for people and love for Christ to impact lives worldwide. We’re teaming up to meet the nation’s extreme demand for registered nurses (RNs) and to prepare you for a majorly rewarding career. Not to mention, you’ll earn two bachelor’s degrees in four years and graduate with more hands-on experience than you ever knew you needed.

OUR DEGREES Students participating in this collaborative program graduate in four years with both a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences (BAHS) from LeTourneau and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from UT Tyler. This degree plan incorporates both traditional face-to-face and online courses throughout three academic years at LETU, followed by four semesters at UT Tyler at the Longview campus: • Students will work toward a BA Health Sciences, with a minor in biology, at LETU. Our curriculum features our Christ-centered principles and includes solid exposure to Biblical studies, natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, plus foreign language studies and clinical observation. • Students, who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 throughout BA Health Sciences courses at LETU and meet the additional prerequisites, will secure a place in UT Tyler’s accelerated nursing program. • Students will then complete clinical course requirements through UT Tyler’s renowned College of Nursing and Health Sciences to earn their BSN and graduate prepared to take the RN Licensure examination.

OPPORTUNITIES Our nursing students will learn and serve: Locally. Complete required clinical rotations at award-winning local hospitals where learning opportunities are abundant and quality care counts. At LETU, we help you translate the textbook into the tangible while you absorb the realities of working medical environments. Globally. Fortify your skills and serve humanity through global clinical servicelearning experiences led by our credentialed LETU nursing coordinator. These clinical service experiences take community care to the worldwide level and our students to nations in need of God’s hands and feet.

CAREERS Texas and the nation are facing a critical shortage of registered nurses (RNs) – more than any other occupation. That’s why LETU prepares students to meet needs in a field that’s not only bankable (the average RN earns more than 60K per year), but makes an extraordinary difference. Plus, the proven strength of UT Tyler’s nursing program will help launch your healthcare career goals, with its remarkably high job placement and licensing exam pass rates. Not to mention, nurses are needed wherever you want to live. You can easily apply for licensure across the nation, so it’s no hassle to relocate, whether you are a non-Texas resident and want to head back home to practice, or a local looking to start out in another state. RNs have numerous career options. In fact, more then half of UT Tyler nursing students go on to graduate school to become educators, nurse practitioners, nursing administrators and more.

WHY LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY? At LETU, we prepare students to make an impact through their calling. As a future caregiver, you will meet the world’s physical needs in a field where professionals are in exceptionally high demand. To meet your needs, we’re fusing our exceptional, Christ-centered education with the expert instruction of UT Tyler’s nursing professionals and their recognized status within the medical community.

As an LETU nursing student, you will: • Not only learn from professors, but also build relationships with them. • Find that learning reaches way beyond the classroom – even beyond borders. • Conveniently commute no farther than a short trip across town to complete all nursing courses, thanks to UT Tyler’s Longview University Center. • Live on-campus all four years in a supportive community of faith-focused friends. • Learn life sciences from a Christian worldview, particularly regarding bioethics and the origin of life. *Note: This program functions via a Memorandum of Understanding between LeTourneau University and UT Tyler. Students may apply to LeTourneau University for Fall 2010 but will be admitted to the Health Sciences major pending approval by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
