Out & About - Bendigo Visit the city built on dreams dreams of Striking It Rich!!!! Impressive Victorian buildings line the wide streets of Bendigo, as a reminder of the rich history built from one of the world’s most exciting gold rushes. More gold was found here between 1850 & 1900 than anywhere else in the world. There was very little gold on the surface, most of it was far underground in rich quartz reefs stretching out over 3,600 hectares around the city. Around nine billion dollars worth of gold was found in Bendigo, making it the second highest producing gold field in Australia after Kalgoorlie, and seventh richest field in the world.
Bendigo – City of mystery This Autumn Bendigo will become a city shrouded in mystery and the citizens of Bendigo are going to need your help to get to the bottom of some startling incidents. A disturbing turn of events at Bendigo’s much-loved Discovery Science and Technology Centre has shaken the usually calm and serene city folk. A murder has taken place, the police are everywhere and suspicions are running high.Worryingly, this crime just seems to be the tip of the iceberg. As the investigation progresses and we scratch the surface of Bendigo’s attractive exterior, a sinister underworld begins to emerge. It’s going to take a joint effort to restore calm and order to the streets of Bendigo and the authorities are calling on anyone who can help solve these mysteries to come forward. Are you up for the job?

Abandoned steamboats and barges, tall red gum wharfs, small towns that show evidence of once having been much larger, old station homesteads that face the river, all these are constant reminders to the river traveller of the days when hundreds of steamers raced along the Murray.
56
Today you can step back in time and experience the magic of the paddlesteamers era by taking a cruise on one of the fully restored boats. The port area has been restored to its former glory and you can spend a few hours witnessing the now long gone trades of the shipwrights and blacksmiths as they go about their daily tasks. It will give you a great insight into the pioneering days of the area. Whilst there make sure you call into ye olde Sharps
Movie House (p.54) and Penny Arcade - (no Xbox but the kids will love it).
So as you can see, Echuca - Moama’s great range of attractions and activities present a problem… How do you fit them all in?? So come on up - There’s great weather and so much fun for all the family!!! LetsGoKids Melbourne 2013

Did you know Melbourne has over 3,000 restaurants?? No matter where you are there is always something to tempt your tastebuds! Here are a selection from the many food areas Melbourne has: Lygon Street Also known as Melbourne’s Little Italy! It’s a short tram ride or 10 -15 mins walk along Russell St from the City. Parking is at a premium. It has long been a Melbourne favourite for friendly, Italian style family dining. There are restaurants, takeaways, cafes all doing what Lygon St is famous for - PIZZA, PASTA and GELATI. Southbank Down by the Yarra in front of the Crown Entertainment Complex is a selection of them “al fresco”. It offers the opportunity to get a great view of “life passing by” as you enjoy your meal. There is also a food court for sit downs or takeaways inside the west end of the Crown complex. DOCKLANDS - Harbourtown This shopping and dining complex is growing rapidly and now boasts a great selection of restaurants and pubs as well as a food court located near Costco. James Squire Brewhouse has a great selection for kids. Little Bourke Street (CHINATOWN) Located between Exhibition and Swanston Sts, this area is the hub of Chinese activity and dining in Melbourne. There are dozens of restaurants offering all types of Chinese provincial food (with a bit of Aussie flavour). Yum Cha on Sundays sees the area packed with people and is a great experience. Sydney Road BRUNSWICK The old working class suburb is a short tram or taxi ride from the city and allows you to sample the best Middle Eastern, Greek and Turkish cusine. Restaurants, sweet shops and bakeries are everywhere and are normally very inexpensive. Victoria St RICHMOND (just under the train bridge) If it is Vietnamese food you are after You’ve come to the right place. Fresh, noisy, cheap and cheerful is what it’s all about and the food is great! LGK favourtie is Tran Tran (Tram 24 or 109) Parking is very limited.

Football is all about scoring goals; if you don’t shoot, you don’t score. Archie Thompson is an expert in scoring goals. Whether he is scoring a 20-yard screamer or slotting one around the Goalkeeper, he knows how to find the back of the net. Try this drill to improve your shooting technique. - Find a wall and draw a big set of goals on it with chalk. - Add in 3 big circles, one in the middle, bottom corner, and top corner. - Your aim is to kick the ball and hit the middle of your circles as many times as possible. - Use the inside of your foot and your laces to try and hit the targets. - First try with the ball stationary, then try with the ball on the move. - Try and hit each target 10 times before you move on to the next.
