Arenberg served on Capitol Hill for 34 years in senior Congressional staff positions, as a Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Majority Leader George Mitchell, and Senators Paul Tsongas and Carl Levin. Richard Arenberg is co-author of Defending the Filibuster: The Soul of the Senate. He is a Visiting Lecturer in Political Science and International and Public Affairs at Brown University.

The Dachau Album: An Interfaith Holocaust Project With Avi Hoffman and Shari Unger

This program is made possible by a generous gift from Tom Gordon through the Ann Gordon Holocaust Fund established in honor of his mother.

Wednesday, April 11, 2:00 pm This new discovery is being revealed to the public for the first time. When Dachau concentration camp survivor Arnold Unger came to the United States in 1947, he brought a leather-bound album of 30 color drawings that show sequential narrative of life and death in the camp. The artwork was created by Roman Catholic Polish political prisoner Michael Porulski, who was liberated from Dachau and eventually died alone and penniless. This is the compelling story of these two men and relates the experience of the Holocaust in a way never depicted before. General Admission: $18, Member Pricing Not Available

April 8 In 1948 six weeks after the state of Israel was established, Tuviansky, a captain in the Israeli army and a former major in the British army was arrested. Within four hours he was interrogated, tried, sentenced, executed and his body was thrown into a pit in the ground. Tuviansky was accused of treason because he had innocently supplied a list of vital information to his British boss at the power plant. A year later, Tuviansky was completed exonerated. His executioners were either lightly punished or not at all. Based on a true story.

Levis JCC Pottery Guild Annual Exhibition & Sale

The Arts program at Donna Klein Jewish Academy provides an environment that encourages exploration, creativity and research in Drama, Art History, Studio Art, Graphic Design and Ceramics. Our 11th and 12th grade Advanced Placement (AP) students prepare portfolios that are submitted to the College Board to receive college credits. Each student creates a series of 12 canvases that explore a unique theme.

Utilitarian, sculptural and decorative works of ceramics created by members of the Levis JCC Pottery Guild and its new director, Cynthia Zmetronak, are on display and many will be for sale.

Art Tours Benzaiten Glass Center and Artisans on the Avenue, Lake Worth

Tuesday, January 30 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Lake Avenue is hopping with a vibrant artists’ scene! The Benzaiten Center for Creative Arts is a brand new, fine art fabrication center located in a 14,000 square foot Historic FEC Train Depot building. We’ll enjoy a docent-led tour and a narrated glass blowing demonstration by Creative Director Rick Eggert and world-renown Glass Studio Manager David Peterson II—with time for a visit to the gift shop. After lunch on Lake Avenue, we’ll explore Artisans on the Avenue, a unique gallery representing 40 local artists. $115 (includes lunch)

NEW! NSU Art Museum – Ft. Lauderdale Frank Stella: Experiment and Change Thursday, February 22 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Featuring one of the most important and celebrated artists of our time, this exhibit includes over 300 extraordinary paintings, sculptures, and drawings and more of by this legendary artist. It covers nearly all of the museum’s 28,000 square feet of galleries (two floors). We’ll enjoy a docent-led tour in the morning, followed by lunch at the museum, and time in the afternoon for exploring on our own. $95 (includes lunch)

The Bonnet House Museum & Gardens and the Weiner Museum of Decorative Arts, Ft. Lauderdale

Thursday, March 1 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Frederic Clay Bartlett designed and built Bonnet House as a winter retreat for his family. This historic house is one of but a few homes and studios of two American artists open to the public. A docent-guided tour will lead us through the rooms of the Main House where we will learn the history of the Birch/Bartlett family and discover the charm and whimsy of this beachfront estate. Following the guided tour of the Main House, a Nature Trail Driver will take us on a 15 minute golf-cart ride around the trail. The Driver will share information about the plants, animals and ecosystems of this 35-acre coastal wilderness. Our second stop is the Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts, located inside the Gallery of Amazing Things. One of the most comprehensive collections of British pottery and porcelain in the United States, WMODA also features a spectacular collection of art glass, notably the work of René Lalique and Dale Chihuly. $135 (includes lunch)

9:00 am - 4:30 pm We’ll start our morning with a fun and informative walking tour led by noted Palm Beach historian Rick Rose, who will share its architectural importance, its influence on the fashion world and the development of its legendary social scene. We’ll lunch at The Breakers Flagler Steakhouse, a fresh take on the classic American chophouse and end our visit to the island with a tour of a local gallery. $150 (includes lunch)
