On May 10th, the nation will honor and salute military spouses for their dedication to keeping our country safe. Military spouses are our unsung heroes and are the backbone of the family through readiness, deployments, and reintegration. The history of Military Spouse Appreciation Day started with President Ronald Reagan when he signed a Proclamation in 1984 to pay tribute to all military spouses. Military Spouse Appreciation Day is now a part of National Military Appreciation Month in May!
Liberty Military Housing would like to say “thank you” to all our military spouses for your service, commitment, sacrifices, and most importantly your contribution to your family and this nation.
Military Spouses stand tall and stand proud. Liberty salutes you!

Resident Frequently Asked Questions
You ask, we answer!
Below are a few commonly asked questions from our residents that you may have been wondering about too
1. How do I submit a work order?
All maintenance work orders can be submitted one of two ways: Submit a request or check the status of a request at any time with the Liberty at Your Service App. You can call our hotline Liberty at Your Service 24/7 at 1-888-578-4141
2. Why are resident event locations not posted on public platforms such as Facebook?
Due to OpSec and being on a secure military base, we do not post location details of our resident events on public platforms for the safety of our residents If we posted location details, we risk anyone on public platforms knowing where all of our residents are gathered at a particular time. Instead, we utilize, Community Rewards which is a secure third-party platform where residents will get notified of upcoming resident event details and locations, community updates, can earn cash rewards and get access to community discounts.
3. I am PCSing soon, who do I contact about the move-out process and what do I need to do?
When you receive orders, reach out to your designated district office to notify them. You will receive a notice to vacate form to fill out as well as a move-out checklist You will then be scheduled for a move-out inspection
4. I am leaving my home for vacation. What do I need to do?
When leaving your home for an extended period of time (more than two weeks), please contact your district office to notify them and fill out a Vacation and Extended Absence Form This is to ensure the safety of your home if anything were to happen during your absence or if anyone has permission to enter your home

A WORD FROM OUR WEST ARMY PARTNERS
Ditch the Car, Ride a Bike
By: Kiley Westergaard, DPW Environmental Division, AGEISS
Spring weather is here and with that comes an itch to enjoy the outdoors more With work, school, and just generally busy schedules, it’s hard to get all the outside time we crave during these nice days A great way to increase outdoor time is to bike your commute Biking is great for physical and mental health, as well as provides benefits to the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions If commuting by bike isn’t an option, bike to the library, a movie, or a restaurant to add even more fun to your outing.
For biking to and off JBLM, Pierce County and Thurston County provide bike maps, and bicycle tips for a safe ride. Pierce County even does a bike swap annually where anyone can sell or buy used bicycles and bicycle parts. The event is an awesome place to learn more about biking in your area.
JBLM makes it easy to bike around by providing bike lanes for bicycle use only. Bike exclusive lanes can be found on Pendleton Ave, Jackson Ave, and on multiple streets within Lewis North Even without a specific bike lane, there are many safe places to ride on JBLM Before setting out, verify your bike is in good working condition, wear a helmet, and obey all Washington state bicycle laws Riding in the same direction as traffic, using hand signals and wearing bright and reflective clothing also ensures a safe ride
Biking is beneficial both to your health and to the environment It’s a great source of exercise and a mood booster Hate sitting in traffic? Biking avoids long traffic lines and it’s easy to find the nearest spot to lock a bike up, so you don’t have to worry about parking. Furthermore, avoid paying for gas and car maintenance by regularly biking.
For even more benefits, check out Bicycle Benefits This program encourages local businesses to provide a discount for people who arrive by bike and who have a Bicycle Benefits sticker
What’s not to love about biking? Get into biking this May and enjoy a ride to work or your favorite place.
Check out our Facebook page at Sustainable JBLM to stay up to date about biking benefits during May bike month.
