Mifflin County Wireless Is there anything worse than constantly buffering while trying to watch Netflix or “freezing” on a Zoom work call? In this increasingly online world, it’s becoming more and more necessary to have reliable high-speed internet for work, school, shopping and entertainment. Until 2020, many Mifflin County residents faced the frustrating prospect of inadequate or even non-existent high-speed internet. But as Mifflin County Wireless nears its two-year anniversary, they’ve helped over 1,100 Mifflin County households to connect to reliable and affordable internet with truly local customer service. The frustration of having inadequate high-speed internet is what drove Mifflin County Wireless President Cody Wian to start the company. When his family built a home in the Reedsville area, they found out that the large cable provider would not bring connectivity to their development. After realizing the slow speeds other providers were offering just weren’t viable for what the average household needs from their internet, Cody decided to use his extensive experience as a director of technology and network administrator to install a tower to bring fast internet to the development. As word spread, Mifflin County Wireless was born, with a mission to bring internet to the roughly 50% of the county that is

underserved for high-speed internet. There is no doubt that the demand was massive and immediate. “We received 200 calls in one day,” recalls Cody, as people in all parts of Mifflin County heard about what Mifflin County Wireless could do. Currently, they have nine towers in operation, with the newest serving Decatur Township. A tenth tower is being constructed this year to serve the Strodes Mills area. If a home or business has a line of sight to one the Mifflin County Wireless towers, you can connect to Mifflin County Wireless fast and reliable internet. Towers currently in operation are located in Belleville, Havice Valley, Lewistown North, Lewistown South, McClure, McVeytown East, McVeytown West, Reedsville and Decatur Township. How can you find out if there is a tower near you? Go to the interactive map at www.mcwinternet. com or fill out the contact form on the website if you’re not sure if you have a line of sight to a tower.
Mifflin County Wireless offers a variety of speeds for all consumer’s needs, from a basic 25 mbps download/ 5 mbps upload speed to a “Work 100” plan that provides 100 mbps up/ 20 mbps down speeds for heavy usage. Their plans are very affordable and start at $50 per month, and there is no need to hire a lawyer to try to figure out the “fine print” or exclusions in Mifflin County Wireless plans. There are no setup fees, contracts, data caps or throttling. They are not a cell phone carrier and do not limit data. Mifflin County Wireless services are fed by fiber-optic internet service and they do not place any data caps on their customers. They even offer a Veteran’s discount, as well as a referral program. Mifflin County Wireless is locally owned and locally managed. When you call on the phone for support, staff out of their Lewistown Operations Center will pick up the phone and talk to you. Mifflin County Wireless is proud to be able to bring internet access to a large percentage of the community. Their team is made up of people that grew up around Mifflin County and understand the frustrations of just wanting fast and reliable internet. They are dedicated to continuing to provide genuine high-speed internet, all at an affordable price to the residents of Mifflin County.
