Security!

Social media security for other than Facebook is very similar.

The same rules apply across the board.

Facebook does seem to be the most intrusive.

Pinterest is a social media site where you follow friends and then “pin” a picture/link of theirs that you like onto one of your virtual boards.

The security issue with Pinterest is mainly just malware through links that you click on.

Unfortunately, malware is prevalent.

You need a good anti-malware program running instead.

Instagram is the picture social media site. You take a picture with your smart phone and upload

Instagram, unlike Facebook, doesn’t give much information regarding your posting status. It just shows the picture.

Simple enough. Just be careful of your pictures’ contents.

Don’t give too much information such as that you are out of town or where your children go to school.

Twitter is similar to Facebook, just shorter messages. You can post pictures, links, follow people, etc. The same rules apply but Twitter doesn’t post your location

as Facebook does when you tweet from a mobile phone, UNLESS you turn it on.

For a privacy setting in Twitter, click on the red egg at the top right hand corner and select Settings. Then you will see the Privacy tab. Here you can “Allow only people I follow to tag me in pictures.” This way you aren’t randomly tagged by anyone.

The Personalization and Promoted Content check boxes allow Titter to place and read cookies in your browser so that it can tell what you are searching for and viewing and then show to you rel-

evant ads on their site.

A bit intrusive, huh? Well, at least they give you the option to stop it from happening.

Login verification is something we haven’t discussed yet. What is the purpose and why use it?

It’s simple. Every time someone, hopefully just you, tries to login to your account, they will either get questions or a text will be sent to your phone. If the correct code is not put in or a question answered wrongly, it will not let them enter the site.

How useful is it? Well, personally, I’ve had someone try and

hack my Facebook account. The text came across my phone and I knew that since I hadn’t requested it, someone else must have.

I quickly changed my password and haven’t been hacked as I’ve seen so many have.

FISHING REPORT

Lake Murray:

White Perch: Good. Lake World reports that the white perch remains king on Lake Murray, with schools scattered all over the lake from 20-70 feet of water. Use electronics to locate the perch which will be found around schools of bait. The fish will take spoons, minnows, worms or most anything else, with most anglers fishing for them vertically.

Crappie: Fair but improving. Captain Brad Taylor reports that fish are in an unusual pattern right now, and while they are where they should be for this time of year they seem to be pretty scattered. High water levels are probably a factor as well as unsettled weather patterns.

Numbers of fish are a little bit off, but some really quality fish are being caught right now. The best pattern is fishing

Fish can also be caught casting jigs and jigs under corks at docks. The bite will get better and better over the coming weeks and fish should move shallower very soon.

Striped bass: Fair. Lake World reports that striper are a little slow making their way down towards the dam for this time of year, and the best action is coming from the mid-lake up to the area where the rivers split. The target depth range is shallow out to about 30 feet of water, and dragging herring on free-lines (and planer boards) has been most productive. There has also been some schooling activity, and contrary to conventional wisdom the best schooling action has come on sunny days. Keep your eyes open for the birds which will tell you everything you need to know about where the fish are located.

Some Unique Visitors Deliver Meals To Seniors Lexington, SC (March 20)-- It is not unusual for some senior individuals across Lexington County to expect a knock on their door around 11:00 a.m. and on the other side of the door to be greeted by a familiar face and smile. The visitor comes bearing a hot meal and lingers a while, swapping and sharing stories like old friends. Then the visitor is on his/her way until tomorrow when they drop by with another hot, home delivered meal.

This scenario is normal for over 404 Meals on Wheels clients who receive a daily meal courtesy of Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission (LCRAC). During the week of March 16-20, however, there were different, not as familiar faces that greeted these senior individuals. For the home delivered meals participants that receive meals through the Lexington Senior Center located at 108 Park Street, there were different faces that came a calling several mornings.

On Monday, Representative Chip Huggins delivered meals followed by Lexington County Councilman Johnny Jeffcoat on Tuesday. On the following day, Blowie, the mascot for the Lexington Blowfish and General Manager of the Blowfish, Kelly Evans provided hot meals and a visit. Also on that day, Lexington seniors were greeted by a smiling face and a very sparkly tiara as Lanie Hudson; Miss South Carolina delivered meals, visited with seniors, and of course happily posed for some pictures. The participation of these community leaders

and local celebrities is part of Community Champions week a component of the month long March for Meals Campaign that is being led by LCRAC’s Aging Department and Meals on Wheels Program.

The purpose of the campaign is to bring awareness to senior hunger in our community and to identify the vital role that Meals on Wheels plays in assisting seniors in maintaining proper nutrition and as a consequence good health and independence. This support often delays premature entry into nursing homes and assisted living facilities, which are much costlier options than supporting an older individual to remain in their own home via a nutrition

program such as Meals on Wheels.

Many more representatives, senators, mayors, police chiefs, and county council members will step up during this week to deliver meals at the 6 other senior center facilities in Lexington County to demonstrate their support of Meals on Wheels services and do their part to bring awareness to senior hunger. Waiting for a reluctant man to ask MacLeod and Jerry Bellune are spending their children’s inheritance and enjoying every minute of it. What follows is an account of their travels in New England.

Jackson, N.H.

Our traveling companion, Holly Vaucher, has a wonderful gift of gab.

She will strike up a conversation with perfect strangers, make them feel at ease and that she is genuinely interested in them.

We have watched her do it countless times and it is always amazing to see how effective she can be.

Over lunch at Yesterday’s in Jackson, near the foot of Mount Washington, she drew out our waitress, Felecia, who recommended the French onion soup.

She was right. It rated three stars, maybe four.

Within minutes, Felecia was telling Holly her life story.. She has been living with her boyfriend for five years. They have a twoyear-old son but she’s still waiting for him to ask her to marry him.

Why would an attractive young woman who wants to marry him put up with such cavalier ways?

She needs to jerk him up and trot him off to the altar before he realizes what’s hit him. Enough of this.

Of course, we did not share our advice with her.

It’s been our observation that people don’t really want advice. They just want to be listened to with an empathetic ear.

New England food

The lobster must be the mascot of Maine.

Almost every bar, cafe or restaurant has some form of lobster on the menu and mostly steamed with butter and lemon.

There is also an awful concoction called lobster roll which is a lobster tail on a soft hot dog bun.

Why you would mess up something as tasty as lobster by hiding it in a hot dog bun makes no sense.

There are other regional specialties such as chicken salad which is one part chicken and 101 parts potatoes. Same with the egg salad. One part egg and 101 parts potatoes.

You would think the hens took the day off.

No wonder. Maine harvests almost as many potatoes as Idaho.

Rhubarb pie is another favorite here. Why? No telling. But if you put enough sugar in it, even alfalfa pie would probably taste good.

This is big pie country.

They make them with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, cranberries and no telling what other kinds of berries.

We stopped at a roadside “honor” market. Prices on all pies, cookies and whatever were clearly marked.

You put your money in the box and take whatever you want. No change and no state sales tax. Hooray!

Holly bought a raspberry pie, two large ginger cookies with some kind of sugary goo between them and a Maine version of the world famous Southern moon pie — two huge chocolate cookies with more sweet goo.

I broke off a little to taste.

Not really my thing but I’m not from around here.

American pizza

Pizza seems as pervasive here as in the south.

It seems to be on every menu.

The cafes and restaurants have become quite creative in what they put on them.

You can order just about any topping you can imagine, edible or otherwise.

Native Italians who come to our country must be shocked when they see all the stuff we dump on their prized national dish.

In Italy, you can order a pie shell with two teaspoons of tomato sauce, a tablespoon of grated cheese and a little chopped basil and the Italians think they’ve created something fantastic. Americans who come to Italy are disappointed with their pizza.

Going home

The truth is, many Italian come here to make a fortune and return home.

Then they get caught up in the wonders of America, fly home for family reunions and are treated like royalty by envious cousins.

After a week of this, they begin to compare their old home town to what they have in America and are relieved to find they bought roundtrip tickets.

The jihadists hate us and want to destroy us.

The rest of the world envies us and want to be
