Are you a Lego master? If so, it’s time to show off your skills! Each week in Lego Adventures, there is a new challenge we must face: from skyscrapers to farms, bridges to airports, space stations to main streets, and everything in between! First, our Right Brain Curriculum instructors will review the history of what we are about to build: How the invention of the elevator revolutionized city skylines, how farms in the 1930s survived hordes of grasshoppers and the Dust Bowl, how aeroelasticity explains why the Tacoma bridge is nicknamed “Galloping Gertie” collapsed, etc. Then, it’s time to build! You will create a model of each type of structure out of an enormous assortment of provided Legos, and of course, we thoroughly photograph each creation before we move on to our next topic . In our final week, you will create a final project landmark to show visiting parents (along with photos of your previous creations). Learning and Legos: A perfect match!

This program is funded by a generous grant from the Dana Home Foundation. On a scale of 1-10, how fit are you? Many times, we blame difficulty bending, walking upstairs, carrying groceries, weight gain, overall fatigue and slowing down as "getting old" rather than being "out of shape." Just as being “out of shape” can happen at any age, getting back “in shape’ can happen at any age too! Whether your goal is to develop strength, build endurance, improve balance, increase flexibility and agility, reduce stress, we can help you. We use modifications and rely on many fitness disciplines to empower each person to succeed. There are three components to this program: individual assessments, group instruction and working one -to-one with an expert Personal Trainer, skilled in determining the best way to achieve mutually agreed upon goals.

Description: Evidence shows that treatment for osteoporosis is multifaceted, involving not only strength training, but nutrition and lifestyle changes, too. OsteofitnessTM combines strength training, stretching, balance and proprioceptive training, and fallprevention techniques to create a comprehensive program geared at building new bone. This program targets the common osteoporotic sites including the total hip, total spine, lumbar spine, neck of the femur, and wrists. Health education on how to live with osteoporosis, bone-health nutrition, and stress-management skills are taught as part of each class. Members have seen improvement in their bone scan T-scores after participating in the OsteofitnessTM program!
