O.W.L.L was started in 2013, as a result of the Friends of the Lexington Council on Aging committee’s vision for an affordable, accessible, inclusive, collaborative community-based Lifelong Learning Program to serve Lexington seniors aged 60 and over.

$25 for Residents, $50 for non-residents.

We will explore the artistry of Duke Ellington as a composer, pianist, and bandleader. In the process, we’ll discover why he is considered one of America’s 3 greatest composers (Copeland, Bernstein, Ellington) according to Gunther Schuller.

Examine the rise and reign of Chairman Mao Zedong in historical perspective, exploring the context of his life and accomplishments in China 1898-1976. If time permits, we will look at his global impact from Paris to Peru, Warhol to the wilds of Nepal. Murderer or Savior? Hero or Villain? We’ll explore all points of view.

This groundbreaking 1922 novel set in London has two plots: in one, an upper-class woman prepares for and gives a dinner party; in the other, a shellshocked World War I veteran, wandering in Hyde Park with his wife, has a breakdown. The novel weaves from one story to the other in this moving portrait of an era.
