The trained inclusion staff are able to facilitate social interactions, prompt participants when needed, offer breaks and adapt and/or modify camp and program activities. General Information REGISTRATION BEGINS MARCH 30TH!

Registration is available online, in person, or over the phone beginning March 30, 2020. We encourage you to visit our web page at www.lexingtonma.gov/recreation. Registration is first come, first served. All participants must register, submit payment and a waiver release in order to be eligible to participate in a program. Non-resident registration will begin on April 6, 2020. There is a $10.00 fee for all non-resident program registrations. We accept cash, check, MasterCard, VISA, or Discover for payments.

The Department promotes participation by all Lexington residents in safe, accessible, and well-maintained facilities.

A request for financial aid is available online, in person, or by calling. Requests are reviewed through a confidential process with the Human Services Department. The amount of scholarship awarded is determined by individual need and available funds in the Recreation & Community Programs Enterprise Fund. Thank you to Fund for Lexington for supporting a portion of our annual scholarship funds.

Cancellation Policy Cancellations must be submitted in writing to recdept@lexingtonma.gov a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of a program or service. A $25.00 processing fee will be incurred for all programs unless otherwise noted. The remaining balance will be in the form of a credit to the household account in which the original registration was made. There are no credits for cancellations received less than two weeks prior to the start of a program or service. Credits may be given for medical reasons and would require a physician’s note before credit approval. In the event a program is canceled due to low enrollment or inclement weather (only when a make-up is not available), a full credit will be applied to the household account.

F.A.S.T. Athletics Sports Mania $130 (half day) • $180 (full day)

Pump It Up Basketball Clinic – $150

Join us for four fun-filled days of sports and games with our F.A.S.T. Athletics Sports Mania program. All participants will have a great time playing soccer, basketball, flag football, dodgeball, and kickball. The fun continues with hand ball and pillow polo. Each day begins with proper stretching and warm-up games, and follows with the teaching of basic skills in the sports we play that day. Program will be offered in a safe and fun environment. Please bring a water bottle, snack, and drink. Full day participants should also bring a peanutfree lunch. Be sure to register early!

Kidstock Theater: The Lizard of Oz – $295 4

During this four-day basketball clinic, which is being led by Dan Holbrook and Tom Henneberry, former Lexington High School standout basketball players and current basketball coaches, participants will learn about and develop their fundamental basketball skills such as ball-handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and more! Games will include 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5. Basketball fundamentals and strength and agility training will all be covered to help you improve as a player. Please bring a basketball, water bottle, snack, and lunch.

KIDSTOCK PLAYMAKERS WORKSHOP: Dorothy and her friends are not in Kansas anymore and only one creature can help, The Lovely Lizard of Oz! Can Dorothy and her friends find the Lizard and save the day or will the Wicked Witches of the North, South, East and West caves spoil their plans? An original parody musical based on the Wizard of Oz.

Chess Mini Clinic – $165 For beginner and intermediate players, this class will focus on introduction of pieces, learning piece movements, basic tactics and strategies. Youth Archery – $120 Archery is an individual sport that provides the opportunity for anyone to do well. The benefits of archery include exercise, mental focus, self-discipline, and social interaction with peers. This program teaches the fundamentals of good form, technique, and how to be safe. All equipment is provided and families are encouraged to stick around and watch! Taught by Shawn Bowlby who has 20+ years of experience and has won the national indoor championship 8 times. Viking Pre-K and K Soccer powered by the New England Revolution – $125 Viking Sports and the Revolution have developed a tailored soccer curricula for emerging soccer players. We teach basic techniques of soccer, including dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting. We keep it fun and lively with lots of games that incorporate the skills learned each day. Every week includes scrimmaging. All students receive a Viking T-shirt.

Challenger Tiny Tykes Soccer $130/Session Tiny Tykes is an exciting child development program delivered through soccer. Our soccer and child development professionals have designed an innovative curriculum that takes children on “Immersive Interactive Adventures” through fun and exciting themes. F.A.S.T. Athletics Pre-K T-Ball – $115/Session Let’s take a walk through the fundamentals of America’s favorite pastime. u Therapeutic Recreation Programs u Adaptive Motor Skills — FREE

In a fun, focused environment, participants work on improving gross motor skills for sports and everyday life through a series of exercise stations and interactive activities. Developing these abilities can improve general wellbeing, boost an individual’s performance and confidence to participate in physical activities and sports. Classes instructed by a Pediatric Physical Therapist who works with children with special needs. Ages 5-8 focus on locomotive skills, while ages 9+ focus on strength, stability and flexibility

Inclusive Fitness –$285

A six week program to help neurodiverse people and their families create healthy lifestyles. For our neurodiverse athletes, we will perform functional exercises that use bodyweight, medicine balls, straps and bands. Exercises will be adapted to the strengths, needs and progress of each person. Session groups will be small, with high coach - to- athlete ratio designed around the support needs of the participants. Our goals are improved motivation to be active, increased on task behavior during each session, and performance with good biomechanics. For a small fee, parents can utilize a certified personal trainer and learn the exercises that will be taught in class. Ultimately, we want to get the whole family fit!

Adaptive MultiSports — $70 Join us for an adaptive multi-sport program! We will play a wide range of activities that are inclusive of all abilities and skill levels. Games include dodgeball, kickball, soccer, and any other sports participants would like to play! We will have volunteers and work with participants on an individual level to improve their skills and welcome them to an environment where they can learn, play, and be supported.

Adaptive Tennis — $60 Adaptive Tennis lessons are available for children and teens with disabilities. These lessons are adaptable and have smaller class sizes with staff who have been trained to work with individuals of all abilities. All levels are welcome as the class will go over basic strokes while playing games, practicing skills, providing social interaction with others, and having fun!

Social Stars — $130

From superheroes to under the sea, each week we will have a new theme and participate in games, crafts and activities that are fun and engaging to your child while fostering social skills and promoting positive peer interactions. Once the weather gets nice, we may even go outside from time to time! While you’re waiting we invite you to attend a parent resource group for parents who have children with disabilities. The resource group is free of charge and is led by Human Services social workers. This program is inclusive so age appropriate siblings and peers are welcome to join!

Between a walk and a hard place – facilitated walking group — $70 Wanting to get outside, walk more and enjoy nature with others but you are unsure if you have the strength, stamina or desire? Then this is the class for you! The group will walk from Lexington Community Center to Joyce Millers Meadow, less than 1/8 of a mile away led by Sylvana Weinstein, RTS, RN. Each week the group will explore a different part of the meadow and trail system while taking breaks as needed along the way. Simple stretches and breathing / mindfulness exercises will be incorporated at various times during the walk. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. The first session will meet in the dining room at the Community Center.

The Irving H. Mabee Town Pool is located at 80 Worthen Road at the Center Recreation Complex. Programs offered are American Red Cross swim lessons, adult aqua aerobics, swim team and adult lap swim. Kimball Farm Half Day Trip – $50 Come along to play mini golf, take a ride on bumper boats, and enjoy homemade ice cream at Kimball Farm. BUDA Ultimate Frisbee Clinics Learn Ultimate Frisbee, have tons of fun, and make new friends! This program combines coaches clinicstyle practice sessions with regular scrimmage time. At the field, our coaches will place players into the most appropriate group depending upon experience and age. Children in grades 1-4 should register for the U8, U10, or U12 programs most convenient to you. The U14 programs are split into girls and open groups. These groups will sometimes be combined for mixed (coed) scrimmages. The open groups will be predominantly boys, but all genders and identities are welcomed. The U14 groups are targeted at middle school age players, but 5th graders with previous experience are welcomed. The program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship. Participants in each age group will be divided into teams of 10 players, coached by volunteer parents. Girls 3v3 Summer Basketball League The Summer In-Town Basketball League is an organized recreation program to continue the development in basketball skills through game play. Players will be placed onto a team and play two games on their designated day. This league will run for 5 weeks and the top 2 teams will play one additional game to determine a league champion. We will be looking for volunteer coaches to help manage and run teams for all leagues. Please indicate during registration if you would like to help out.

Similar to table tennis, badminton, and tennis, it is a fun, active game that can be mastered by anyone. BATTLE GREEN TENNIS LEAGUE In partnership with the Lexington Recreation and Community Programs Department, the Battle Green Tennis League is a recreational league that promotes tennis by scheduling doubles matches for adults of all ages and abilities. (Beginners should have some experience playing doubles before joining the league). You may play all season (AprilSeptember) or in any of the 5 four-week sessions. Matches are scheduled a few weeks prior to the start of each session. Doubles matches may consist of mixed, men’s, or women’s pairings. Matches are scheduled Mondays-Thursdays from 6:00-8:00pm. You do not need to be a resident of Lexington to participate. Every effort is made to group people of similar skill levels, but the primary emphasis is on promoting exercise, good sportsmanship, and above all, fun! Walk ACROSS Lexington – $10/walk

Join friends and neighbors and discover new places in Lexington that you have never seen before. Susan Kenyon of ACROSS Lexington will lead 3 guided walks along ACROSS Lexington trails. Each walk will be 3 to 5 miles in length. All walks have sections of uneven footing and some short uphill sections. The small registration fee will be donated to the ACROSS Lexington Trust Fund. AUGUST The Moderate Yoga classes build upon the Gentle level, offering traditional yoga DATES practices, breathing exercises, movements, TBD poses (postures), relaxation techniques, and meditation. This class is designed for those over age 60 who are more experienced in the practice of Yoga, including individuals who may have some physical limitations or challenges. Please note, no chairs will be used during the Monday class. The Friday class will still use chairs at times each week. Instructor: Lisa Groves Age Day
