Mission Statement To provide affordable, quality programs meeting the needs of the community. We are committed to providing active and passive leisure opportunities that are educational, fun and life- enriching. The Department promotes participation by all Lexington residents in safe, accessible, and well- maintained facilities.
Registration Information Registration is available online beginning March 15, 2021. Non- resident registration will begin March 31. We encourage you to visit our web page at lexingtonma.gov/ recreation. Registration is first come, first served. All participants must register, submit payment and a waiver release in order to be eligible to participate in a program. We accept cash, check, MasterCard, VISA, or Discover for payments.
Financial Aid
Requests are available online, or by calling. This confidential application process is through the Human Services Department. The amount of financial aid provided is determined by individual need and available funds through the Recreation Enterprise Fund. Thank you to the Fund for Lexington for supporting a portion of the annual scholarship funds.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be submitted in writing via the request form a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of a program or service. A $25.00 processing fee will be incurred for all cancellations unless otherwise noted. Cancellations received less than two weeks prior to the start of a program or service do not qualify for a credit. Credit requests may be given for medical reasons and requires a physician?s note to process a credit request. The remaining balance will be in the form of a credit to the household account in which the original registration was made. In the event a program is canceled due to low enrollment or inclement weather (only when a make- up is not available), a full credit will be applied to the household account. Credits are available up to one calendar year from the date given.

We will go on a short hike while completing an outdoor scavenger hunt. Participants can bring a snack and should wear comfortable clothing. Youth Intro to D&D: The Giant's Table! - $165 Become a hero and embark on a daring adventure in Dungeons & Dragons, the world?s oldest and best role playing game! Trouble is brewing in the small hamlet of Pellaford: a messenger carrying an important item has gone missing and strange mishaps have begun to plague the town. As heroes, you have been hired to find the courier and uncover the mystery surrounding the nearby wooded plateau called the Giant?s Table. Over the course of six sessions, we'll learn the rules of the game and play through the entire adventure as a team. Players will select from an assortment of pre- generated characters so we can jump right in and start playing. Pump It Up Basketball - $220 Under the direction of Lexington stand out & coach Tom Henneberry, and college coach Dan Holbrook, they strive to teach proper basketball fundamentals to children who want to improve their skills, stay active, and have fun! Viking Ninja Warrior - $115 These high energy clinics is where Boot Camp meets Ninja Warrior where kids will engage in a variety of modified activities that improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and agility. Junior Golf Clinic - $225 Under the direction of PGA Golf Professional Joe McKinney, participants will develop and learn new golf skills each week. Learn to Skate Ice Skating Lessons - $220/ session For individuals with little or no formal skating instruction, our group classes teach skating basics in a fun and comfortable environment. Family Fishing Clinic - $20 Let the Mass Wildlife Angler Education Program be your guide on how to fish. We?ll have equipment on hand for use, as well as terminal tackle, and live bait. You?ll learn the basics from casting out to baiting up. And the best part ? you?ll actually be able to fish. So come try your hand at this great pastime, guaranteed to catch some fun! Bike Smart - $10 In partnership with the Lexington Bicycle Advisory Committee, the Friends of Lexington Bikeways, and the Lexington Police Department, the Bike Smart program will be offered this spring. Bike Smart classes build rider confidence, whether riding for fun or transportation. Students will learn how to evaluate if their bicycle is safe to ride, proper helmet fit, bicycle handling techniques, signaling, and additional biking skills. Ages: Dates: 8- 12

Sunset Family Orienteering Race - $86 Teams of 1- 6 people will travel to Clarke Middle School, competing against each other on a sunset orienteering course in which teams will work together to find as many checkpoints as they can. Starts will be staggered. All team members must have a flashlight and are encouraged to wear their favorite reflective apparel. No prior knowledge of orienteering is necessary. We will send participants instructions ahead of time. * Anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Wicked Cool 4 Kids Lego Robotics 2 - $205 Continue your robotics journey with LEGO robotics. Create bots that compete in soccer games, and fans to cheer them on. Be taught game strategies, catching techniques, and most importantly how to work together as a team. 3D Design using BlocksCAD - $225 BlocksCAD is a programmatic, cloud- based, 3D Design tool that teaches Coding, 3D Design, Math & Computational Thinking. Minds in Motion Outer Space & Physics Fun - $190 Come join an exciting world of space exploration as you build and take home your very own Solar System Kit! Put your mind in motion as you paint and create your own planets and learn all about our planetary neighborhood with your solar system model. Check out our real meteorite fragment samples! Take part in other exciting activities involving physics, air pressure, and density. You will also witness some really neat demonstrations from your instructor. Our programs are designed to maximize fun, learning, and playing time on the field. Our coaches will work with every child to help them learn and have a great time. For elementary age children, our programs are coed. For middle school age players, we?ll mostly be divided into a girls group and an open (mostly boys) group. Ultimate is a self- refereed sport and our coaches strongly believe that learning to compete without referees is important for young players. Archery is an individual sport that provides the opportunity for anyone to do well. The benefits of archery include exercise, mental focus, self- discipline, and social interaction with peers. Combined Martial Arts & RAD for Kids - $170 Combined Martial Arts Inc. will be providing this Resist Abduction Defense program. Yoga for Beginners - Judy Whitney
This dance/ fitness class that takes the work out of working out! The cardio/ body toning routine is very easy to follow and no prior experience is needed. Whether you are just starting/ getting back on your fitness journey, are extremely fit, on a weight loss program or coming back from an injury, come join the party!
Link your breath with movement in this slow flow yoga class. We come together each week to explore yoga poses, get grounded, build strength and flexibility and have some fun! The class focuses on proper alignment in a light hearted, non- competitive environment. A yoga mat is helpful but not required.
Beginner & Intermediate Tai Chi Health & Balance Tai- Chun Pan

The class will start with easy follow- along warm- up Qigong exercise, Eight Pieces of Fine Brocades. Zumba Gold is a Latin- inspired dance- fitness party for active older adults, beginners, and anyone who is looking to dance and have a great time without jumping! Easy- to- follow and feel- good routines to international beats. Each routine starts out with basic steps and adds on to each step as the song progresses. This creates the opportunity to add more intensity or lower the intensity level based on each individual's fitness abilities and preferences. Instructor Karl Weiland's Zumba Gold classes focus on building strength, cardiovascular health, balance, coordination, and flexibility. Please wear sturdy sneakers and bring water.

Adult Cardio Dance & Strength - Renae Nichols Let the music free your mind and energize your body in this class designed to give you a full body workout. Each class begins with 30- 40 minutes of cardio dance fitness, created to be a great workout for the heart and the mind. With each new song, you will be led through a series of steps that are easy to learn and fun to perform. The remaining 20- 30 minutes of class will be used for strength training, using body weight and free weights to keep muscles strong and toned. This class is designed for active adults, no previous dance or fitness experience is required.

The class will guide you through an easy to follow dance choreography that will definitely get you moving your feet and lifting your heart rate for a full- body cardio workout. Increase your strength, endurance, flexibility and balance in this energetic whole- body circuit workout. Using hand weights, you will alternate muscle- building exercises with aerobic challenges and balance drills. 3 to 5- pound dumbbells are recommended, but canned goods and water bottles will also work well.
Essentrics - Cindy Lewis
Essentrics is a dynamic, full- body workout that simultaneously combines stretching and strengthening all the muscles in the body. This technique not only develops lean, strong and flexible muscles, but also unlocks joints and improves posture. Perfect for men and women of all ages and fitness levels who are looking for a gentle, slow- tempo class, this program aims at "rebalancing" and the body so that areas that have often been ignored (such as feet, hands, hips, shoulders) get stronger and more functional. Please bring a yoga mat, towel and water. Golf Clinic - $225 Under the direction of PGA Golf Professional Joe McKinney, participants will have the opportunity to learn new golf skills and practice previously taught skills. Elements of golf that will be covered include driving, irons and wedges, putting, rules of play, and golf course etiquette. Participants are encouraged to bring their own golf clubs as a limited number of rental clubs are available.

This popular fitness program is designed specifically for women and will incorporate upper and lower body weight exercises as well as cardiovascular activities. Walk ACROSS Lexington - $15/ walk, $50/ all 4 walks work and many body Join friends and neighbors and discover new places in Lexington that you have never Band exercises will be included. Fit & Fabulous - Maureen Gaines This class is a total body fitness workout, offering exercises for strength, endurance, balance and flexibility. The class begins with warm up movements and concludes with a stretching exercises and opportunities to relax the mind and body. You are encouraged to use free weights, if available (canned goods, water bottles, etc.) to enhance strength exercises, and resistance items (stretch bands, tubes, barre balls, small pillow, etc.) to enhance exercises.

Active Agers - Carolyn Martin This class is a combination of cardio fitness and muscle conditioning with the additional elements of Yoga and Tai Chi. These styles are blended into movements to help with an individuals balance, agility and strength, and to keep you invigorated for your everyday activities. In addition, you will receive instruction about how to execute these exercises and why we are doing certain movements to enhance your overall fitness experience. Please bring a water bottle. Free weights can be incorporated. Modifications can be made for those who need extra support or a seat occasionally.
Seated Strength & Balance - Pearl Pressman This seated class is designed to accommodate individuals of various fitness levels and can be adapted to meet the needs of any participant. Pilates & Barre - Ellen Gaies
This workout includes floor and standing barre to engage and strengthen your CORE muscles, and improve balance, flexibility, and posture. Yoga exercises will also be taught to help you relax and stretch during class. Modifications/ options will be provided for all levels of experience and any physical concerns. We will use the following props if you have them available: light weights, (or any cans from your pantry), resistance/ therapy bands, Pilates ball or pillow, mat, and a chair. Ellen Gaies is a Pilates, Barre, Yoga, Zumba and Ballet instructor. Summer Orienteering Series - $155 For the first three sessions, participants will take part in a set of progressive activities to develop orienteering and map reading skills using a standard orienteering map. This series is designed to give participants an immersive orienteering experience that will focus on developing essential forest- navigation skills through fun and engaging activities. OsteofitnessTM - Beverly Ikier & Kerri Powers Spring - $420 Wed & Fri | Summer - $280 Wed & Fri OsteofitnessTM is an interdisciplinary program designed to prevent and treat osteoporosis using complementary health therapies. According to the Journal of Natural Medicine, due to the risk and fear surrounding pharmaceutical treatments for osteoporosis, there is a need for alternative treatments. This program has shown many positive outcomes in T- score improvement. It is a two- layered presentation by two certified, experienced exercise instructors, which covers the needs of both beginners and those that are advanced. The exercises provide progressive strengthening that target osteoporotic sites using free weights and ankle cuffs. Nutrition for Bone Health is reviewed each class. Bone/ muscle anatomy and physiology are explained in charts. Stress management is also reviewed each class and breathe techniques are taught to help with stress. Age: Spring Dates: 18+

Battle Green Tennis League In partnership with the Lexington Recreation and Community Programs Department, the Battle Green Tennis League is a recreational league that promotes tennis by scheduling doubles matches for adults of all ages and abilities (beginners should have some experience playing doubles before joining the league). You may play all season (April- September) or in any of the 5 four- week sessions. Matches are scheduled a few weeks prior to the start of each session. Doubles matches may consist of mixed, men?s, or women?s pairings. Matches are scheduled Mondays- Thursdays from 6:00- 8:00pm. You do not need to be a resident of Lexington to participate. Every effort is made to group people of similar skill levels, but the primary emphasis is on promoting exercise, good sportsmanship, and above all, fun!
