Educating for Tomorrow: Developing Global Citizens
THE STRATEGIC PLAN FOR LAKE FOREST ACADEMY 2014
MISSION Lake Forest Academy strives to embody in its practices and to cultivate in its students excellence of character, scholarship, citizenship, and responsibility. CHARACTER encompasses respect for others and their beliefs, dedication to honesty in every sphere of life, realization of moral clarity and conviction, and pursuit of virtue and value in life. SCHOLARSHIP encompasses acquisition of knowledge, development of critical thinking, enthusaism for discovery and learning, and exercise of a powerful imagination. CITIZENSHIP encompasses appreciation of diversity and multiculturalism, involvement in the LFA community, participation in service to others, and commitment to global awareness and understanding. RESPONSIBILITY encompasses development of self-reliance, ability to seek guidance, dedication to cooperation and teamwork, and action based upon informed decisions.
Building upon 158 years of history, LFA is on the move. Using the 2003 and 2008 Strategic Plans as our compass, the Academy successfully completed its first comprehensive capital campaign in 2014, raising $68.8 million to fund school improvements and build the endowment. The resulting additions and enhancements to LFA’s facilities and program have been transformational. The school’s dedication to four simple, but powerful, pillars of Character, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Responsibility has created a community, a climate, and a program that are inspiring. LFA students are motivated to take ownership of and pride in their role in maintaining a pluralistic environment. Thoughtful, devoted, and passionate adults in the community encourage the students’ progress both academically and holistically, instilling a sense of shared humanity, helping them grow into kind, empathetic people. With our 2014 Strategic Plan, Educating for Tomorrow: Developing Global Citizens, throughout the next 3-5 years LFA will build upon its strengths and advance the Mission’s four pillars. LFA is committed to continued improvement with a special emphasis on our students and the pursuit of excellence.
