LFA’S GRADING SYSTEM + CURRICULUM n n n n n n
Due to the small class size of each graduating class, Lake Forest Academy does not rank its students. LFA uses letter grades from A - F on an unweighted 4.0 scale. Grades A - D may have pluses and minuses. Admission to advanced level and AP courses is decided by the appropriate department based on a student’s ability and success in previous coursework. After exhausting current course offerings, upperclassmen may elect to pursue independent studies ranging from Constitutional Law and Econometrics to language courses. One semester of Independent Study equals a 1/4 credit. Psychology is considered a science course. Students in the French and Spanish Language Culture courses culminate in service trips to become immersed in the native language.

CAMPUS NEWS n The international search for a new Head of School will conclude this fall as we transition and celebrate 19 years of transformative leadership under Dr. John Strudwick. n
As a commitment to our institutional belief in expanding our students’ worldviews, 53 students traveled to 4 countries last year through the Stuart Center for Global Leadership and other LFA-sponsored trips.
n
LFA’s inaugural Global Concentration cohort will graduate this spring after completion of their Capstone projects such as “Mental Health Concerns and Treatment of Syrian Refugees,” “Slave Trade in the Thai Fishing Industry,” and “Diabetes in Belize” to name a few.
