This issue is an ode to vegetables and minerals, two words perfect for this period afterall... No sooner had I uttered them than i thought about “the philosophizing pebble”. The story of Cayoutchou, a mountain pebble that shines brighter than the sun and lives in a crystal-clear stream, but who ends up depressed and in a partially vegetative state as a sink plug in Saint-Etienne. I promise the story doesn’t end sadly, but I won’t tell you too much... You’ll meet Jessica, the pebble’s cousin who dreams of becoming a street pavement; Roland, the pebble’s clear-headed Uncle, disappointed by the condition of his species as he feels they are only ever used as missiles; and Bertrand, the little boy who can speak the language of the pebbles... or at least understand it. The senses of any child are amazing in that they all come together when hearing a story. Children can tell us if a text is made of velvet, silk or lace and if its fragrance is strong, light or heavy. This is when writing takes on its full meaning. We throw a story into the air and children stretch it out in the sky like a parachute, before landing smoothly back to ground amongst the twirling images they bring with them. When they start to look distant, you might think they’re day-dreaming or distracted. Not at all! They’re flying; using the words we give them as wings to grow and travel. Happy reading!

And from today it offers you the affordable as well, with its own Little Fashion Gallery clothing line. Interview with Marie-Soudré Richard, founder of Little Fashion Gallery. LITTLEFASHIONGALLERY.COM WHAT IS IT? From the very first day I wanted to create an environment with a unique personality, the aim was to be different. The brands we sell are our ambassadors and we in turn bring them together under our Little Fashion Gallery banner. Being a recognisable brand requires us to always be the first to innovate and our desire is to give fantastic service, so we always start by anticipating our clientele’s needs. Ultimately Little Fashion Gallery was created to collate contemporary and original fashion and make it available to purchase online. HOW HAS LITTLEFASHIONGALLERY.COM BROKEN NEW GROUND? The concept of offering everything -- clothes, toys and design for children -- altogether under a single online brand, never used to exist. I started with specialised brands, the so-called «niche», and we gradually democratized. When we saw that mothers liked the idea, we reviewed the mix of brands so we could make them available to more people. So we have expanded the range of prices to make the concept more accessible. I started with 14 brands and we now have over 200, but we’re not a big store, what matters is having the right mix. HOW DOES LITTLEFASHIONGALLERY.COM CONTINUE TO INNOVATE? We’re launching our own clothing line which is something I’m very proud of. I’m surrounded by the best in the business, a stylist who’s worth her weight in gold, a fantastic product manager and artistic director, and some talented graphic designers. The collection drew on our DNA and archives, so it built itself rather naturally around our image. And you’ll find we’ve revisited the essentials, such as screen printed t-shirts at very accessible prices... HOW IS IT ACCESSIBLE? DON’T PEOPLE OFTEN THINK THAT THE FASHION ON YOUR SITE IS EXPENSIVE? These people can’t have visited us for several years! We’ve greatly expanded our supply, and our new Little Fashion Gallery brand is very affordable! You can find junior screen print t-shirts for less than 20 €, and soft stitch versions for around 40 €. We’ve also done a lot of work around our logo, the cloud, which people really seem to like. As packaging has also always been very important to me, I asked our agency to come up with a pattern because I wanted our own print; its one that’s also going to appear in our clothing line. During my first presentation in London, I remember a Guardian journalist (who has always remained faithful to us) exclaimed «this pattern is a statement!» ... I was so proud I’m still talking about it now!
HOW DO YOU SEE LITTLEFASHIONGALLERY.COM EVOLVING IN THE FUTURE? The brand is built on values and a vision that hasn’t changed: to provide a great shopping experience and to satisfy parents throughout the world who crave fashion and design. Little Fashion Gallery is very much a global brand. We cultivate a certain eclecticism: first because I like to mix things up, but also because our clientele has been worldwide from day one. We’re lucky enough to be known in several countries and more than 50% of our orders come from outside France. The creation of Little Fashion Gallery didn’t happen by chance, I spent seven years in England and I needed that Anglo-Saxon energy, the sense of entrepreneurship that the English have. Little Fashion Gallery had an Anglo-Saxon subsidiary from the very start. The English were saying «good luck» whilst the French were saying «bon courage!» WHAT MOMENT OVER THE LAST 6 YEARS STANDS OUT FOR YOU THE MOST? Creating a company is a family adventure, my partners at the time were my husband and my son Paul, who had only just been born! When Paul was about 3, someone said to him that it must be great to have a mother who brings nice clothes home all the time, and he replied «oh yes, but sometimes its difficult because Mom has cash flow problems ...! «. To hear that coming out of his mouth from behind his big glasses was very funny. IF YOU COULD DO IT ALL AGAIN, WOULD YOU DO IT DIFFERENTLY? Probably yes, but I don’t regret a thing. After 6 years Little Fashion Gallery is a brand, a great team and an e-shop that people enjoy and return to.

Little Fashion Gallery is a brand that encompasses all our values, and is the successful realisation of something we felt that parents needed. The children’s fashion market has evolved a lot over the last few years. The liberalisation of sales and the growing power of the internet have shaken the perception that consumers have of brands and fashion. Fashion has become more accessible and we have witnessed a real democratisation of styles. More than anything, people want to have beautiful products at the right price. Little Fashion Gallery is aimed at consumers who love fashion, who wish to cultivate a certain eclecticism and who are searching for good value for money. Little Fashion Gallery will be a fully complete line, selling everything to dress children from head to foot; from babies aged 3 to 24 months to older children from 2 to 10 years. And, to please you and amuse the children, we have developed a line of screen printed t-shirts. We have had an abundance of material since the launch of our site: photos, quirky animals from the Little Denim Gallery, drawings from the illustrator Marina Vandel, the list goes on... Little Fashion Gallery is equipped with practical and well positioned products. T-shirts from 20 € / 18 £, coloured jeans and sweatshirts from 42 € / 35 £.
