Welcome to World Camp Lycée Français de Chicago and its partner organizations are offering a large choice of language immersion programs in French, Arabic, German, Italian and Mandarin Chinese, as well as fun and exciting programs taught in English for campers age 3 through 14. Browse our selection of Performing Arts, Sports, Sciences and Technology camps for more details. Run by experienced teachers and instructors, our camps offer daily opportunities for FUN and LEARNING. Language Immersion Camps Run by experienced native teachers, our World Camp is built on decades of academic excellence and expertise in developing effective language immersion programs. Campers experience the culture and advance their language skills through activities such as singing, cooking, arts, science projects, dance, gardening, theater, and more. Camp Bienvenue Run by our own Lycée teachers and assistant teachers, this half-day camp is the perfect introduction to school for future Lycée students entering in pre-k in September. Includes cooking, crafts, French songs, Music with Madame Julie, and in-school field trips… All in French! It is ideal to get ready for school, meet with teachers, get comfortable with classrooms and hallways, and start making new friends.

Les Explorateurs Level 1: Age 6–7, Level 2: Age 8–10 Run by experienced Lycée teachers and native speakers, this very active camp includes one weekly field trip every Tuesday and one weekly outing to the beach. Specific activities allow students of all levels of French to equally benefit from the camp. Sports, games, theater, crafts, singing, waterpark, gardening and many more activities are offered. All in French! Lunch is included.

Les Aventuriers Our French immersion city discovery camp for middle-school students. Campers leave school every morning for a day of summer adventures in the city. Campers learn autonomy and expand their vocabulary through unique themes: session 1: US & French Revolutions; session 2: Manga, Comics and Bandes Dessinées; session 3: Chicago Skyscrapers; session 4: Chicago Art Scene.

Vocabulary acquisition comes from daily encounters and situations. Beach day with BBQ will end every week, and a trip to a water park is included in each session. Lunch is included.

Les Aventuriers
Session 1: US & French Revolutions US and French Revolutions. This two-week historical, political and creative writing camp will offer a comparative study of French and US revolutions. Learn about the ideas and thinkers that created a movement that changed the world, review events that happened concurrently on both sides of the ocean, and imagine the future of democracy. This bilingual camp will allow all students to contribute to a bilingual leaflet that will include a review of ideas and events, and allow students to share ideas on what comes next. Field trips to college and public libraries, bookstores and local museums ; interviews of local journalists and writers.
Session 2: Manga, Comics and Bandes DessinĂŠes In the United States, Comics, Superheroes and the world of Marvel lead the way, while Japan has become famous for its Mangas and Animes culture. In Europe, Bande dessinee (or graphic novels) have become a highly considered literary art. All have in common worlds filled with creativity, imaginary lands and talented artists. Our campers will visit libraries and museums, but will also spend time outside reading, drawing and exchanging opinions in French. They will be introduced to new authors and genres, and there will be time for cosplay and group productions. Books in the classroom will be available in French and English. 20

Session 3: Chicago Skyscrapers Chicago Architecture is a two-week workshop designed to introduce students to the history and future of architecture in Chicago. Students will tour the city of Chicago, complete a series of design projects, and meet with local architects and builders.
Session 4: Chicago Art Scene Visit local galleries, artists’ workshops and museums, meet with teachers at the School of the Arts Institute, visit backstage areas and meet with artists and technicians that make the magic happen. Attend art classes and create your own art pieces. Think and write about the current mission and value of arts today, and learn about modern forms of art. Incentive on current urban art forms, theatre and musical theatre.

Specialty Camps In addition to language immersion camps, the Lycée Français offers a large choice of Summer Enrichment programs taught in English by our own teachers or by partner organizations selected for the quality of their educators and curriculum. Design Dance studio, Einstein by Design, Mad Science and Mind Body Soccer are joining us this summer to offer unique and diverse programs to your children. We consider it our mission to serve our community atlarge, and we encourage our parents and neighbors to consider us as a summer-long option for fun and learning.

Mini-Kickers Soccer & Beach Soccer Camp By Mind Body Soccer Join Joe Carver and his team of talented coaches, and learn soccer fundamentals and proper techniques while creating a passion for the game. Soccer Skills Soccer & Beach Soccer Camp By Mind Body Soccer Our expert staff will challenge you to reach your full potential while covering all the important aspects of the game, including passing, dribbling, shooting, receiving and turning. Play small-sided games, participate in daily soccer and beach soccer tournaments, attend specific clinics, and discover the unique fun of Crazy Hair & Crazy Hat days. Players divided according to age and skills. Morning classes will take place at LFC’s campus. Afternoon beach soccer classes will take place at Montrose Beach (transportation by yellow bus).

STEAM Camps By Einstein by Design STEAM Camp 1: Age 4–5, STEAM Camp 2: Age 6–7 Take Time to Tinker Innovate Make and Explore as you learn how to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math through hands-on activities. Come play with and learn about the newest technologies, experience building and making with real tools and let off a little STEAM this summer. Each day will be filled with fun activities, design challenges and outdoor play. Camp Themes: Superhero Science, Marvelous Machines,Structural Engineering with Art and Nature, The Physics of Sports, and Wearable Technologies. Campers will design and create fun projects in each theme with the aid of their camp instructors, and then participate in a camp showcase to family and friends at the end of the week. Some of the cool technology tools used in this camp include: 3D printers, laser engravers, robotics kits, and electronic circuits. Put math and science to work as you learn, design, create, and strengthen problem solving skills all while having a blast!

Rockin’ Robots & Brixology By Mad Science. Two Mad Science camps in one fantastic full-day program. ROCKIN’ ROBOTS: Every morning is all about robots From Sensors to Actuators, Effectors to Manipulators, learn what makes robots go! Build your own robot to keep at the completion of the camp and help program a LEGO Mindstorm™ robot! Take-home activities and snack-tivities included each day! BRIXOLOGY: Every afternoon, step into the shoes of an engineer and shape the world. • Using LEGO® bricks, build a different engineering-themed project in each class. • Explore engineering fields including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical, and bioengineering. • Use critical thinking, cooperation, and creative problem-solving to test and improve creations. • Extended learning with educational toys and takehome projects to reinforce each concept. • Participate in collaborative engineering challenges to solve real-world problems and develop team-building skills.

Under the Sea by Design Dance Studio Have you ever wanted to glide like a sting ray or explore a coral reef? In this camp, we will use dance, creative play, storytime and crafts to learn about different creatures and environments in the sea. Students will improve skills in focus, memorization, rhythm, body control as they explore through engaging activities. We will use our knowledge of the sea to build our culminating performance on the final day of camp! Parents and family members are invited to attend!

Extended day options Our before and after-camp programs are supervised by a team of talented instructors and camp counselors. Students are divided per age group in small group sections. Choice of indoor workshops, including crafts, construction building and board games as well as a space for relaxing, drawing, coloring or reading. Rentrée Artistique Back-to-school childcare solution for Pre-K to Grade 5 students By Design Dance Studio Group 1: Age 3–5, Group 2: Age 6–10 Keep your sidekick active this summer! In this camp, students will not only get to explore their favorite literary and big screen super heroes but also the heroes they encounter in their community. Students will craft, listen and tell stories, develop original movement through creative play and improvisational exercises and experiment with varying dance styles. And at the end of camp, we’ll put on our own ultimate dance show, complete with “Kapow’s” and “Let it Go’s”! Parents and families are invited to attend!

This childcare option is offered to Lycée families every evening after school, starting on the first day of school and running until the official opening of the Centre d’Études et de Loisirs on September 11. Must register for full week of September 5-8, with possibility to add Thursday and Friday of the previous week. No daily registration accepted for this program.
