Les Aventuriers
City adventure #1 – 26.2 Biking Camp (June 29–July 3) Campers will learn the rules of driving a bike in the city, how to change a flat tire and how to do other basic repairs to their bike. We will then leave our new school for daily adventures throughout the city. Distance biked will help raise money for a community service project chosen by campers. Campers will also follow the Tour de France and learn about daily stages, individual riders and visited cities. Et tout cela en Français ! Camper must bring own bike to camp.
City adventure #2 – 26.2 Biking & 13.1 Trekking camp (July 6–10) In this very active camp, campers will both bike the distance of a full marathon and walk the distance of a semi-marathon in the course of a week. We will bike to exciting locations and trek through Chicago’s most beautiful nature spots along the lake, by the river or in the forest preserve. Distance walked and biked will help raise money for a community service project chosen by campers. Campers will also follow the Tour de France and learn about daily stages, individual riders and visited cities. Et tout cela en Français ! Camper must bring own bike to camp.
City adventure #3 – Legendary Roads (July 13-17) Every country has its legendary roads. Chaque pays a ses routes de légende. Focusing on Route 66 from Chicago to L.A. and on Nationale 7 from Paris to the French Riviera, campers will learn about vacations and daily life in the 50’s and 60’s in France and in the United States. Campers will research and develop together their own bilingual multimedia presentation. Games, music and sports played at that time will complete this very unique camp. Also, program includes a day at the Water park and a day at the beach. 18

City adventure #4 – Chicago neighborhoods (July 20-24) Five days, Five neighborhoods and dozens of unique, less known attractions along the way. Our jeunes journalistes (young reporters) will interview aldermen, local citizens, learn about historical figures and vote for their favorite spot. Back at school, they will report on their adventures in French. Campers must bring their own digital camera to camp.
City adventure #5 – Chicago Museums (July 27-31) We all know the Field Museum and the entire Museum campus, we all love the Art Institute or the Museum of Science and Industry. This is not where we will go that week. Chicago counts hundreds of less know yet fascinating museums, and our jeunes journalistes (young reporters) will visit and report on many of them during this week-long adventure. Back at school, they will report on their adventures in French. Campers must bring their own digital camera to camp.
City adventure #6 – Orientation race (August 3-7) This camp is all about developing language skills and autonomy. To win daily races and treasure hunts in various areas of the city, campers will have to research and memorize new French vocabulary, acquire new skills (knit, cook a meal, learn a variety of knots, use a compass, build indoor or outdoor structures) and learn how to work as a team. You will love this fast-paced camp.
