Refund Policy
Charge is per participant, per program unless otherwise stated.
GENERAL REFUND POLICY
Refunds and Transfers are permitted up to 5 business days before start of program with cancellation fee applied unless otherwise stated. No refunds issued for requests with less than 4 business days or less notice.
Refund Fee: $10 for classes up to $100, $25 for classes over $100.
Transfer Fee: $10 per participant, per program.
General Information
Cancellations: When enrollment is low we reserve the right to cancel a class. You will receive a full refund within 4-6 weeks.
Returned Check: A $25 fee will be charged for each returned check.
Waiting Lists: Once a class is filled, your name is put on a waiting list. Waiting lists are not held from one session to the next.
Make–Ups: Recreation cancellations only.
Holiday: Office is closed Sept. 5, Nov. 25 – Nov 26 and Dec. 26 – Jan 6.
Foreign Currency: We do not accept foreign currency. Winter/Spring: Will be mailed to residents on Dec. 1, 2023.

Indemnification: The undersigned, in consideration of participation in the programs operated by Los Gatos –Saratoga Community Education and Recreation (LGS Recreation), agrees to indemnify and hold LGS Recreation , its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers harmless and release LGS Recreation , its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers from any and all liability for any injury which may be suffered by the named individual(s) registered in any program operated by LGS Recreation, arising out of, or in any way connected with participation in such program. I have read the above application and agreement, and fully understand that I assume all risks for any injuries received. Model Release: I release the photographer and LGS Recreation from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right I have in connection with any reproduction of or use of photographs in which I appear. I consent to the reproduction or use of photographs, without my name (or other registered participants), taken of me while participating in LGS recreation programs. LGS Recreation and its photographer will only take photographs and videos in a public setting in which there is a reasonable expectation of privacy. This Waiver of Claims/Assumption of Risk/Consent applies to future participation in all programs of LGS by all signatories and minors on whose behalf it has been signed. AND/OR I have fully read this Agreement and fully understand its content. Furthermore, the significance of this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement has been EXPLAINED TO THE MINOR. I certify that I have custody or am the legal guardian of said minor and that I and/or my minor child are physically able to participate in recreation activities. In the event I or said minor requires medical treatment while under the supervision of staff and/or agents, I authorize said staff to provide and/or authorize medical treatment. I expect staff to contact me immediately in the event emergency medical treatment is required for said minor, but this contact is not necessary to administer emergency aid. I will pay for all medical treatment which I or said minor may require. I hereby grant permission to include pictures and/or video of me and/or said minor, while participating in LGS recreation program, for brochures or other publicity. LGS Recreation and its photographer will only take photographs and videos in a public setting in which there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy. I understand I will not receive any compensation for use of such pictures or video. Participants of virtual recreation classes acknowledge they are responsible for ensuring their environment is safe/free from obstructions and that any use of third-party applications (e.g., Zoom, Instagram, etc.) at their own security risk.

Breakfast With Santa i
Upon arrival you will get to venture through Los Gatos’ very own Christmas train village! You will be amazed by all the toy trains decked out with Christmas cheer! Then, while you wait for your turn to see the big guy, you and your family can enjoy a delightful meal. You will also have a chance to do a holiday craft. When you are called, it will be your family’s turn to go into the “Santa Room” for that magic moment with Santa (you have to be quiet in order for Santa to hear the secrets whispered in his ear!!) Digital photos will be taken and available online. You may bring your own camera for additional pictures and our elves will be happy to help you with a family photo.

There’s magic awaiting! Decorate your very own traditional gingerbread house and take home the sweet magic. Attendees will design, assemble, and decorate their very own unique creations. Kids come to the program but stay for the experience. We understand kids need time to be kids. We offer your child that opportunity in a secure, nurturing, exciting, safe, explorative, and social environment in our Clubhouse Programs. Clubhouse is an interest based program that incorporates daily snacks, cooking projects, challenging arts and crafts, outdoor games and sports, science experiments and so much more. Our goal is provide an emotionally and physically safe time that meets the needs of parents and children within our community. We strive to create a home away from home atmosphere for all participants. Hours and fees vary upon care schedule selected at registration. The programs are in operation during the school year for children in grades TK-5.

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
LGS Recreation provides the After-School Enrichment Program to students attending Los Gatos and Saratoga Union School District schools. Classes are offered on-site and typically run for one hour. Classes are offered in subjects such as art, tennis, science, foursquare, language, music, multi-sport, basketball, technology, chess and so much more. BASKETBALL - LEVEL 2 focuses on dribbling, passing, shot technique and teamwork. Adjustable hoops and appropriately sized basketballs are used to always provide just the right amount of challenge.

On this adventurous day trip we will discuss how to be prepared for outdoor emergencies, what to do if you are lost and how to make the best of a potentially bad situation. If you like to take long walks in the woods, this trip will make you a safer and more prepared hiker.
ELKHORN SUNSET KAYAK One of the best places on the west coast to paddle and watch wildlife during the sunset hour. Otters, seals, sea lions and many species of birds live here and allow close approach by kayak without being disturbed. The calm waters of this protected inlet make for a perfect fall outing as the sun goes down.
RAVENSWOOD PENINSULA KAYAK Calm waters, migratory birds, and the wonderful history of this special place make this a fascinating day out on our inland sea. Great for kayakers of all levels, we will paddle 5 miles round trip to visit the new park on the Ravenswood Peninsula.
BIRDWATCHING FUNDAMENTALS Birds are all around us and this class will introduce you to the exciting hobby of birding. Our evening classes will discuss optics, field guides and the classification of major bird groups. We will follow that with two field trips to watch land and waterfowl birds.

CERT: Community Emergency Response Team. In the event of an area wide disaster, critical infrastructure and emergency services will be impacted. This Academy trains residents to prepare for and respond to life-threatening events in their community. Beginning September 5, 2023, this course includes a series of learning sessions with a final skills practice and testing session and graduation on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The following skills will be taught: personal preparedness, organizing resources, basic medical operations, terrorism, fire safety, basic search and rescue, damage assessment, and how to use a fire extinguisher. LGS Recreation 55 Plus Program provides comprehensive free or low-cost programs for people age 55 and over. Membership is $30 annually and includes access to a variety of groups, programs, classes, social events, guest lectures, and services. 55 Plus Membership is required for all programs.
Class times and special events will be listed in the monthly newsletter “The PRINT”. The PRINT is emailed to members each month, available at the Adult Recreation Center, or at online at www. lgsrecreation.org/55-plus/the-print/.
Members receive discounts on Great Getaway Adult Day Trips, Social Dances, and LGS Pickleball League. Members can sign up for exclusive 55 Plus fitness classes and activities at Vasona Boating and LGS Aquatics Center.

*Registration Required with the 55 Plus Office, note time change! Zumba Gold is an easy-to-follow dance workout that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Learn steps you can take to reduce the risk of cognitive decline. Explore the relationship between lifestyle choices, such as diet, movement, and sleep, in mitigating or promoting cognitive decline. We will also discuss emerging risk factors such as hearing loss, high blood pressure, and gum disease, which are increasingly linked to dementia. Art & Music Appreciation (WVC)
Interactive class exploring and discussing a new influential artist or musician each week. West Valley College Instructor, Ed, will also lead the group singing well-known songs and playing guitar. AARP FOUNDATION TAX AIDE – Free in-person tax return preparation from trained volunteers. Appointments are available on Mondays from February through April. Pre-registration is required call the 55 Plus Office at 408.354.1514

For your convenience pick up and drop off will be available at both the Adult Recreation Center in Los Gatos and the Joan Pisani Center in Saratoga. There will be a bathroom on the bus! Gratuity for the bus driver is not included. Trips are non-refundable.
