PROGRAM ATTENDANCE
If your child is going to be absent, please email the SFA Site Administrator.
Class attendance is taken during the first 15 minutes of each period and then provided to the office. If your child is late for their first period, please call the Summer Fun Academy Fun phone number, as the gates will be locked shortly after classes begin.
PROGRAM DISMISSAL TIME
Program dismissal time is 12:30PM. Students should be picked-up immediately, unless enrolled in the Summer Fun Academy Clubhouse Afternoon Camp at neighboring Van Meter Elementary for Session 1 or on the Saratoga High School Campus for Session 2. All students remaining on campus after 12:35PM will be escorted to the program office and parents/ guardians will be contacted. There is a $25 per 15 charge for students picked up after 12:35PM
EARLY RELEASE
We require any student needing to leave the program before dismissal time to be checked out by a parent/ guardian or authorized representative in designated drop off/pick up gates and by calling the Summer Fun Academy phone number 408.207.4914. No student may leave campus at any time without authorization.
STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP AREA
When dropping off or picking up your child at school, please use the designated drop-off and pick-up areas. No parking or waiting of any kind is allowed in these areas. Please abide by posted signs, crosswalks and the directions of our staff to ensure the safety of all children. Please note that only students will be able to enter beyond designated drop off/pick up gates (see map). Parents/guardians will not be permitted on campus beyond these external areas.
PERMIT TO ADMINISTER MEDICATION
Prescribed medication should be administered by a parent/guardian at home. If medication must be brought onsite with a student, it must arranged with the Summer Fun Academy Site Administrator and safely stored. Please email/call to coordinate and see the Permit to Administer Medication as needed.
If your student will also be participating in the Summer Fun Academy Clubhouse Afternoon Camp, you must provide a separate supply of medication to the Camp Site Supervisor.
SNACK & WATER
Students will receive small, transitional breaks between class periods, with a short “recess from 10:35AM-10:45AM. Please plan to send your child to school with a snack and bottled water. Water bottle fill stations are available throughout campus. LGS Recreation asks that you refrain from sending any snacks containing peanuts.
Students are expected to keep the campus clean, put litter in cans and only eat in the designated areas. Glass beverages, gum and sunflower seeds are not allowed on campus.
SAFETY & SUPERVISION
Supervision on the campus will start at 8:40AM daily. Prior to this time students should not be present on campus unless accompanied by an adult and outside of the secured campus gates. Supervision on campus ends at 12:35PM. After this time, students must report to the Summer Fun Academy Office or be registered in Summer Fun Academy Afternoon Camp.
CELL PHONES & ELECTRONICS
Students are permitted to bring cell phones to school, provided that the phone is turned off and put away when school begins and not turned on until school is dismissed.
We ask that all other electronic devices, smart watches or personal valuables be left at home, as they can be a disruption in class and LGS Recreation cannot be responsible for these items.
DRESS CODE
We encourage students to wear appropriate casual clothing and comfortable shoes to the program.
Tennis shoes are highly recommended for sports activities and Summer Fun Academy Afternoon Camp.
TECHNOLOGY/MATERIALS AGREEMENT
Students must agree to protect the integrity of any computer systems and program materials. Altering program materials, programs, or other items on a hard drive will result in a student losing privileges.
DRUG FREE CAMPUS
All program locations are a “Drug Free” environment. The use of any illicit drug or tobacco product is prohibited on campus. Students who bring any illicit drug, tobacco product or lighters to school will be suspended and/or dismissed from the program.
BICYCLES, SKATEBOARDS & SCOOTERS
Students who ride their bicycle to Summer Fun Academy are responsible for locking and securing them in the bike rack area. Skateboards and scooters need to be checked-in at the Summer Fun Academy Office for safe keeping.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to demonstrate good character while participating in the program:
• Treat others with respect
• Be honest
• Follow what they are instructed to do
• Be kind
• Play by the rules
Any student who disrupts the program experience for others may be removed from the program by the Summer Fun Academy Site Administrator without receiving a refund.
SESSION 1 - CLUBHOUSE AFTERNOON DAY CAMP
Camp program features: arts & crafts, sports & games. At the end of each instructional day, Clubhouse staff will walk students over from Fisher Middle School to neighboring Van Meter Elementary School. You can find the meet up location on the campus map on page 6

REFUND POLICY
Summer Fun Academy - $75 fee
SFA Clubhouse Afternoon Camp - $50 fee
All refund requests can be made by visiting our refund policy page www.lgsrecreation.org/refund-policy.
Refund requests for Summer Fun Academy and Clubhouse Afternoon Camp must be made by May 15th at 5:00PM for Session 1.

PERMIT TO ADMINISTER MEDICATION
For the health and safety of all participants enrolled in a Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Education and Recreation program, all medications must be under the supervision of and stored by the LGS Recreation Staff. Medications will be administered only by staff designated by the LGS Recreation (no nurse is available). The Department permits staff to administer medication to participants under the following conditions as required by California Ed Code 49423.
• Licensed physicians/dentists must give written authorization detailing the method, amount and time to administer prescription and non-prescription medication. An original faxed letter or standard form will be accepted. Photo may be taken or faxed to licensee.
• Parent or guardian’s permission for the LGS Recreation Department to administer the medication must accompany the licensed physician/dentist authorization.
• Medication must be in the original container and the prescription must be current.
• Any change in prescription (dosage, intervals of administering, etc.) must be accompanied by written instructions from the licensed physician/dentist and be reflected on a new prescription bottle label. The designated staff has a right to refuse to administer medication any time the above conditions are not met.
