Fall is here Members!

Looking back to the end of July, thank you for spending the afternoon on the Civic Center Lawn for the Annual Senior Summer Picnic. We are so appreciative for this year’s local sponsors Vasona Creek Healthcare Center, Clear Captions, and the Los Gatos Thrive Foundation for Older Adults. We are also grateful for the Lions of Los Gatos and Boys Team Charity for volunteering during the event. August was full of fun events to wrap up the summer. Members enjoyed a second day out at Vasona Boating. The August Social Dance had a wonderful turnout. Water workout classes concluded at the pool. Jackie hosted the first Food for Thought program with a macaroon donation from local bakery Fleur de Cocoa. Hands on Art experimented with alcohol ink. We will cap off the month with a special guest speaker panel covering Life Transitions.

This September, we are excited to welcome back Art and Music Appreciation with Ed from West Valley College and Magic Movie Tour with Sandy Decker. We are eager to bring in a new instructor for this month’s Social Dance. Joyce will be teaching SOUL Line Dance, an uplifting event with easy dance numbers to popular hits. Reader’s Theatre will be doing “The Proposal” by Anton Chekov. Celebrate fall with Jackie at this month’s festive Food for Thought. We have added two important training courses this fall. The first one will be a mental health training course on October 1st. On September 11th all proceeds from Game Day will be donated to the Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s “Let’s Go Los Gatos Team”. The walk is on Saturday September 28th (more details inside). This fall, we have added two more Great Getaway Trips. There are a few spots left for the September San Juan Bautista Trip. In October, we are excited to announce that Angel Island tour will run. We have added a festive “Mystery Spot and Moon Dinner” trip too! Check out the back cover. LGS Recreation has also added new adult enrichment programs this fall including Clay Handbuilding, SOUL Line Dance Classes, In-Person Spanish, In-Person Italian, as well as Simple and Stylish Floral Arrangements.

Lastly, our team has been preparing for a new special event! We hope you will join us on Sunday September 15th from 2:00PM-4:00PM for a family carnival full of old school fun in honor of Grandparents Day! Tickets are $5 for adults and $10 for youth.

Cozy Fall Wishes to All, Lisanne Kennedy (Recreation Coordinator)
