Hello there my lovely LHS Key Clubbers! :) It’s that time of the month again! And by time of the month, I mean newsletter time! :) The Toast is finally out of the toaster so please enjoy with some jam and butter. Or both! :3 All jokes aside, the school year is coming to an end. Do you all know what that means? EOC Exams and FINALS! D: I know most of us hate testing, but we got to do what we got to do. So good luck to you all and study hard! As your previous Lt.G said, “sleep is for the weak.” No, I’m just kidding. :P Well, he really did say that. Get some rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and do your best! :) Now let’s continue with the sad news. SENIORS! Who here has befriended one, a few, majority, or all of our senior Key Clubbers? I for one have made great friendships with the senior Key Clubbers. I know I will not be the only one to miss them. Unfortunately, they will no longer be part of the LHS Key Club. However! Some will visit so keep a lookout for them! I sure will. I love my seniors <3 I will miss you guys! :’) One the bright side, the beginning of summer vacation is right around the corner. We will no longer have weekly meetings, but monthly ones instead. The Board will continue to stay in communication with you guys over the summer through our meetings and Facebook. Feel free to contact any of us through e-mail or cell! Enjoy the rest of the school year guys! See you all at the events this summer! :D Yours always in Caring, Love, Friendship, and Service, Morgan Lucena 2013-2014 LHS Key Club President

BY JUSTIN DANAO May had many thrilling events that involved several cleaning events as well as other fun happenings. On May 4, there were two events; the Downtown Renton Clean Up Day and the Renton Kiwanis Clothing Bank. At the clean up, adults and volunteers from our Key Club and other schools worked together to clean the streets of Downtown Renton. At the clothing bank, our Key Clubbers folded and rearranged clothes. On May 11, we had the Renton Spring Recycle event and the Poker Run event. During the Renton Spring Recycle, we sorted the recycled items into different groups. At the Poker Run, we went around asking the people there if they would like to participate in the Downtown Renton Poker Run. On May 18, we had the Spring Green and Clean at the Kiwanis Park. At this event we took out invasive species that were growing and then added beauty bark to finish it off. On May 25, we had the Joint May DCM which included Divisions 26, 27, 28, 33, 34, 44, and the D32 Dragons! At the DCM we played a ton of ice breakers and got to pie all of the Lt. Gs in the face, as well as throw them into the lake! We had 25 members attend the May DCM, maintaining our lead with 1217 Dragon Cup Points! Don’t miss out on wonderful events like these and make sure to attend as many upcoming events as you can!

BY JESSICA TIAMZON Hey guys :) The officers and two other Key Club members, Aleah Lucena and Joy Phillips, carried jars around school every day from April 15th to May 20th. We raised $275.82 over 5 weeks! And I wanted to thank all of you guys that helped by donating your extra change! The money that we earned will save around 153 people around the world! Remember to save all of your extra change throughout the summer so we can continue to eliminate MNT! We have been fundraising for UW’s VHC (Vietnam Health Clinic). This is a non-profit organization that takes annual trips to Vietnam to set up free health clinics for those who need it. We have made progress for this fundraiser by donating medical gloves, band-aids, and eyeglasses. We are still in need for alcohol wipes, band-aids, gauze (4x4), hydrogen peroxide, tongue depressor, antiseptic soap in liquid, toothbrushes, medical gloves (latex/non latex) and eyeglasses. Please check your houses to see if you can donate any or all of these items. You can give these items to any of the officers! We also accept donations. Thank you for all of your guys’ support!
