Welcome back my beautiful LHS Key Clubbers! <3 I’ve seen quite a lot of your faces throughout these past few months and I’m very thankful for that. Volunteer coordinators have told me repeatedly that our Key Club is very amazing to work with! And that LHS Key Club has garnered quite an impressive reputation within the Human Services Department at City Hall! This definitely wouldn’t have happened without you all. You guys are truly the best! If you guys didn't know, the officers and I are about halfway through our term. With this being said, elections for the 20142015 LHS KC board will happen in January. I know we’ve only started the new school year and talk about running for an officer position might be too sudden, but please consider running. More information about this and DCON will be released in another newsletter. Also, the temperature outside is dropping day by day. Please wear warm clothing so you don't freeze when we volunteer! The months of November and December always have the super fun events so watch out for those! Keep on volunteering! Yours always in Caring, Love, Friendship, and Service Morgan Lucena 20132014 LHS Key Club President
To all who come to this happy place... welcome! It's officially the 20132014 school year! We have so much planned for the rest of the year, and even though our officer terms are half over (our terms start in April), we want to finish the last leg of the year strong! It's awesome to have some cool new members join us this year to help make Lindbergh Key Club great. This newsletter's theme is "September" from the song by Earth, Wind, & Fire. The main reason behind this song choice was my super love for 70s80s music, and Morgan's too. "September" is a throwback to the 70s, true, but it's also a throwback to everything we've done together as a club. I hope you remember the amazing things Key Club has accomplished: here's to everything we've done so far, and to everything we plan to do! BY JUSTIN DANAO This September was packed with thrilling events! On the 7th we had the C.A.S.T. for Kids event at Coulon Park where we ran the stands that the kids came back to play at. On the 12th, we had the KCCP/Seattle Annual Banquet at the Kent Senior Activity Center. At this event, we set up and put away the chairs and tables and helped with the raffle near the end of the banquet. On the 14th, we had the Take a Warrior Fishing event at Coulon Park where we spent time fishing with some Veterans and served them lunch. A week later on the 21st and 22nd, we had the Northwest Chocolate Festival I/II at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. At the festival, we guarded chocolate sculptures, picked up trash, tasted free samples of chocolate, and advertised people to touch and “become one” with cocoa shea butter. And On the 27th, we had the September DCM at the Renton Library. At the DCM, officers, as well as anyone who was interested in being one, received formal training that would help fulfill their duties as a club officer. The month of October was also fun and exciting with the events that we did! On the 5th, we had the Fall Harvest Festival at The Piazza in Downton Renton where we did behind the scenes jobs. At the festival we helped with booth setups and tear downs, the Pumpkin Decorating Booth, the Zombie Photo Booth, and other little jobs. On the 6th and 13th, we had the events Just Between Friends II/III at the JBF Warehouse 187E. At this event, we sorted clothes, shoes, books, electronics, and a few other things. On the 12th, we had the Fall Green and Clean at the Thomas Teasdale Park where we cleaned it up. And on the 26th, we had the October DCM where we carves pumpkins at Jenny Feng’s house, who is the secretary of Kentridge High School Key Club.
