THE SWITCH APARTMENT
This studio allows each student to develop own individual brief for the final project and specific volume (20% below the standard volume) were given as the limiting constraint. For the past few years, the demand of home office has gradually increased where people would like to work in where they live. However, there are some issues often been faced by home-office, which are the lacking interaction between colleagues, lack of variety of office space when working at home, different preference of working habits and the most common issue is the distraction to focus on work while being at home. As mentioned, SWITCH apartment provide you variety of spaces with different number of users for example private meeting area that could fit 4-5 people, private working space if you want to work by yourself yet enjoying outdoor breeze, semi-public co-working space for 2-4 people, informal meeting space if you simply want to have informal chat while enjoying greeneries, and last but no least your own private indoor working space inside your SWITCH unit.

For home-office, Switch apartment provide what you want. First, introduce public programs in order to activate the site, next, encourage interaction through vertical connection, introduce various type of communal space, separate the program from public at the bottom and more private as moving up, generous pockets space (outdoor space) with views and last one has strong identity for home-office.

THE MONEYSCRAPER
The site is located at corner of William and bourke street and it is currently surrounded by tall Miesian-like skyscraper with clean and orderly repeated glass facade. The main client for the moneyscraper is the Australian Security Exchange (ASX) and the brief was to critic the economy and money through the building, at the same time challenge the typical typology of the vertical skyscraper. No matter barter system in the past or today monetary system, they are all about forces. The forces of demand and supply is what creating the economy and the economy graph. Therefore, the main design concept for the money scraper is based on the idea of forces. These are the analogy been used throughout the design process where graph and modelling clay for exterior while the paper cutting folding been explored for the internal space manipulation. Site analysis been carried out and there are few context that found interesting for example how the laneway formed throughout the loose grid in Melbourne city.

TYPICAL OFFICE CIRCULATION
NEW OFFICE CIRCULATION
Here are the diagram explaining how the final form been achieved. As starter, a typical form of skyscraper with orderly repeated structure, mullion and spandrel been used. Then I start to wonder, what if there are huge forces apply on ground and body of the tower. Like a flat ground when you push it and generate the wave further pushing the bottom of the tower and little forces push the body of tower. The general form then been generated. Indirectly, the mullion and spandrel at the edge been ununiformly distorted due to the unequal forces . Then, new forces from third direction strike the tower and thus sort of loosing the grid system of the spandrel and mullion sort of loosing the territory control and thus creating new opportunitites to the economy. For the interior, all these forces further deformed the slab.
TYPICAL PROGRAMS

GLASS FACADE
Move to circulation, typically, public circulation usually been limited at ground or lower level and users usually moved through elevator from floors to floors and the spaces are only repetition of floors. These typical condition lead to production of isolated individual space and this decrease the spatial interaction and value of using space has been increasingly privatized. Therefore, in this proposed design, with the new program arrangement, the public would have equal opportunities to move to higher level. Besides, the floor planes been manipulated to connect the spaces and people forming single trajectory. The flow been cut and folded and stacked connecting floor above and below and therefore, the floor plane becomes almost that of a street.

ROOM FOR THE LAST SUPPER
This is an intensive workshop with a Finland master architect, Juhani Pallasmaa. Taking biblical story of Last Supper as design brief, students were invited to explore the “emotional and experiential essence” of the event, with a distinct emphasis on the “emotional and poetic” possibilities of architectural space, by using the expressive means of space and light, materiality and time, memory and nostalgia, sorrow and ecstasy. For me, the painting conveys the sense of contradiction of atmosphere and mixed emotions: togetherness vs isolation, calm vs anxiety.By having this concept in mind, light and mist been explored and tested in order to creat the atmosphere. In this project, instead of being an observer, I am interested in bringing the audience to position themselves in the stories’ characters and feel the atmosphere themselves. The space was flooded with 300mm water level, and thus when people walking within the space, they felt disturbed and the ripples create further disturbance to the space indicating the anxiety of the Apostles. Yet as they reach the center, the light would shed on them and they would felt calm yet isolated just like Jesus.
THE FRAGMENTED BOX
The following brief for the University of Melbourne Archives, compiled with the assistance of Dr. Katrina Dean, the University Archivist, and the staff of the University Archives, is a minimum guide only. By all means add to it if you consider something is “missing” or is too small. The building will require specialized services, such as air conditioning, humidity control, fire protection, etc. Allow ample space for such services within ducts running throughout the building, in false ceilings, etc. Note that circulation space, including fire escape stairs, and the number and size of public toilets have not been specified. An archive is an intriguing hybrid of library, a museum and a warehouse. The objects housed in archives sometimes have unique associations, such as the typewriter owned by a famous author. While the works on paper housed in archives are usually unique, ie. drawings, diaries, letters, manuscripts, original photographs etc.
“Collecting
is
inherently acult of fragments, a sticking together of material bits”
An archive is made up of accumulative fragments, which combined by pieces of pieces of the history’s evidence. All these individual boxes gathered at one single place and form the history of the past. Looking at these different pieces, they remind me of the images in the site analysis. In context itself, this idea of fragmentation could be seen everywhere in different scale like the building, wall and even the road.

THE UNCOMMON GROUND
Based on the sentence above, UNCOMMON GROUND is design that consists of separated individual buildings that have various relations to the ground. Design separated individual buildings for each spaces with their own experiences and characteristics. It is also designed to be easy accessible from other directions.
‘We cultivated our land, but in different way from the white man.
We live with the land and they seemed to live off it.’

Different types of materials have been installed in this design. However, concrete and timber are the most common materials in this design. In both gallery spaces, timber interior and concrete exterior was installed. The reason of why the timber was used as it carries the nature characteristic the most and the long horizontal shape inspired by the idea of finding memory.

Floor Plan
As for the theatre, the interior material is the concrete with timber texture while the exterior was covered with reflective metal that enable to reflect the surroundings changing seasons. Besides, the angle of the theater enable the reflective metal to reflect the other buildings as well which provide the feeling of connectedness. As for the garden, it is made up of different degrees of concrete stairs with grass cover on top. Same thing for the roof of the office as well where people can go up the stairs and rest on top of the roof covered with grass. For the bridge that connect the Aborigin Gallery and the roof of the office, glass is used at two sides.

This is one of the projects that I have been involved throughout my two-months internship in Arhcint Design. It was a three-storeys bangalow located within a residential area and it was under ongoing construction during that time. The area that I have been working the most was the bathrooms. There is a total of 7 bathrooms in the building and due to some onsite issues, the bathrooms have to be knocked down and reconstruct. I was responsible in drafting the bathrooms drawings at the same time producing bathroom wares and fitting schedules.
