This is my final portfolio from stage 5 Architecture at Newcastle University. The studio I worked in was called 'The Big Here and The Long Now' and was focused on the life span of materials within the circular economy. My project ‘The Modality of Fragments’ looked at how burial practices and digital legacy currently exist and how this particular mode will change in Manchester in the year 2050, in response to predicted ‘ifs’, manifesting itself in a new urban death infrastructure. The project resulted in a Necropolis for the protection of digital legacy as well as the processing of the deceased for the purpose of energy production (to meet the demand of the data protection).
