ATHLETICS SOFTBALL

• 1st time the Athletics Department has finished the year with a 3.28 cumulative GPA (the highest end-of-year GPA in school history)

MEN'S BASKETBALL

• 1st three-time ASUN Player of the Year in program history (Darius McGhee)

• 1st time competing in the NIT

• 1st victory in the NIT (beat Villanova, a 2022 Final Four team)

• Darius McGhee took over first place in program history and in ASUN history for career points (2,685 points)

• 1st player in program history to be named ASUN ScholarAthlete of the Year (Kyle Rode)

FOOTBALL

• 1st win over an SEC program (Arkansas)

• 1st time with 24,000+ fans at a Williams Stadium game (Liberty’s win over BYU)

MEN’S GOLF

• 1st time advancing to NCAA regionals for seven straight years

• 1st time finishing a season with a team scoring average below 284.0 (school record 283.74 scoring average during the 202223 season)

• 1st time a current student-athlete has qualified for a professional major championship (Isaac Simmons qualified for the U.S. Open)

• 1st postseason tournament championship (inaugural NIT championship)

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

• 1st win over a Pac-12 opponent (defeated Washington on Dec. 18)

• 1st win over FGCU (Jan. 21)

• 1st ASUN Conference Female Student-Athlete of the Year in program history (Calli Doan)

• 1st qualifier to the NCAA Division Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the women’s steeplechase (Calli Doan)

• 1st time winning BIG EAST title in back-to-back seasons (2021, 2022)

• 1st goalkeeper in program history to be named a two-time All-American while also being 1st player in school history to be named a two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year (Azul Iritxity Irigoyen)

• 1st ASUN regular season championship

• 1st win over ranked team (12-10 win over No. 21 Jacksonville, April 1)

• 1st All-American honorable mention selection (Lizzy Ferguson named honorable by both the USA Lacrosse Magazine and ILWomen)

• Win over No. 2 UCLA was the highest ranked team Liberty has beaten in softball and first win over a Pac-12 opponent

• 1st National Player of the Week honoree in program history (Caroline Hudson)

• 1st two-time conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in program history (Karlie Keeney)

• 1st five-year streak of CCSA titles (ties FGCU for the most consecutive titles in conference history)

• 1st win over a Big Ten program (4-2 over Michigan State on Feb. 3)

• 1st time being nationally ranked multiple times (three times) as a team during one season

Field Hockey and LAX Remodels

Baseball Pitching Lab

Golf Additions

• Field hockey dugouts addition: a permanent brick structure on the west side of the field will house the visiting and home teams on game day, along with a game operations/camera booth above the dugouts. This project is expected to be completed by mid-August 2023.

• Campus East Fieldhouse addition: space is being added to serve as a team/entertainment room that will provide more opportunities for team meetings, game preparations, and more. This project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2023.

A new baseball pitching lab is in the design phase and will provide the latest technology to develop Liberty Flames pitchers.

The Liberty Golf Practice Facility is in the design phase. This elite course will include six greens (totaling over 6,500 square feet) and 9 fairways (totaling over 100 acres) and provide authentic "game-time" scenarios. With these improvements, Liberty Athletics will have one of the best on-campus golf practice facilities in the nation.
