Private Residence

After moving their wedding to their parents’ backyard due to COVID, Gaby and David completely re-themed their wedding. Instead of sticking with the industrial theme of the original venue, they decided to lean into the outdoors by acquiring as many flowers as possible to make their wedding truly whimsical. Even some tornado warnings couldn’t stop the fun of this wedding!

WEDDINGDAY 11

WHAT WE

love

When everything got rescheduled, family friends and some of Gaby’s favorite businesses pitched in to make their day special. A family friend and wedding planner helped them iron out the small details, a friend in Chicago agreed to cater the reception and one of Gaby’s favorite restaurants made their delicious cake. And the rentals provided by AAYS Event Rentals elevated this backyard reception!

Nationwide

The Midwest expands from the Great Lakes to across the Mississippi River. So many bridal boutiques and salons expand across that large chunk of land. All of them are bursting with professionals ready to help brides feel as beautiful as possible on their special day. But you don't always need an in-person salon to find what you're looking for. Some designer's websites are great tools for finding exactly what you want and where you can buy it. We've added one of our favorite salons outside of our tri-state area and two wonderful designers that will truly help you get that perfect dress to round out our list!

Lee and Matt loved their venue because they could host every part of their boho wedding in one location. With the help of the venue and their photographer, they were able to find other perfect vendors, who helped them incorporate a special touch. “Since my new last name is “Cherry”, I obviously had to add some cherries into the design and sneak that into other parts of the décor (cherry gummies for the kids, paper straws with a cherry design at the bar, etc.),” Lee explains.

ndustrial vibes and elegance meet for a match made in heaven in this style shoot! Allison Kelley of Unveiled Weddings & Events says, "I wanted something modern industrial with exposed brick walls, something where a deep color palette would look amazing!" The harsh exposed piping and brick walls contrast beautifully with the delicate glassware and flowers on the tablescape. We especially love the moodiness created by the less-traditional black accents in the tableware from AAYS Event Rentals.

PLANNING TOOL

THE EASIEST GUIDE TO changing your last name

AFTER THE WEDDING

Y

our newlywed bliss can quickly come to an end when it comes time to endure the dreaded task of changing your last name. The legal process can often take the romance out of taking your significant other’s last name. If you get yourself organized with the proper documents, the process can be less strenuous, allowing you to continue to revel in your newlywed happiness.

1. GET THE ORIGINAL

3. APPLY FOR A NEW LICENSE

5. UPDATE YOUR BANK

Getting a new license from the local Bureau of Motor Vehicles office requires a few documents, namely your old license, the original marriage license and your new Social Security card. Remember to change your address if you have moved after the wedding.

The easiest way to do this is to visit your local branch in person. Take your new license, your marriage license and your new Social Security card, and ask for your name to be changed on your account. Request new checks, debit cards and credit cards with your new name.

2. REQUEST A NEW SOCIAL

4. CHANGE YOUR LAST NAME

6. UPDATE YOUR LAST NAME

If you visit the Social Security Administration’s website, you can find an application for a change of name here. This is a free service. Print the application, fill it out, and include any required documents. You can either take your application to a nearby Social Security office or mail it in. You should receive your new card with your new last name in approximately 10 days.

When your new Social Security card comes in the mail, meet with your HR manager at work to switch your name over. This includes payroll, 401k, your insurance benefits, stocks etc.

MARRIAGE LICENSE FROM THE CLERK’S OFFICE The original license should come from the clerk’s office where your license was filed. One should automatically be sent to you a couple weeks after the wedding. The original document should have a raised seal and your new last name. Also, it’s a good idea to request copies.

2021 STYLE SHOOT EVENT

Colors of Love

Our Vibrant Indianapolis Photographer Collaborative Style Shoot Event

60

WEDDINGDAY

BETH WATERMAN PHOTOGRAPHY

Our very first WeddingDay Photographer Collaborative Style Shoot Event offered a chance for Midwest photographers to gain style shoot experience and grow their connections with other experts in the wedding industry. Working with lead photographer, Beth Waterman, and Indianapolis venue, The Ivory Foundry, this team was truly top-notch! With tips and tricks from industry experts, a question and answer session with the WeddingDay team and follow-up publication on our platforms, there is so much to gain from these fun events. Take a look at the results from this joyous day, and read on to see how you can get involved in our next collaborative style shoot!

The Vision With the intention of creating a style shoot that radiated happiness, our planner, Amanda Allaby of Magical Moments Event Planning, wanted to use colors that were soft and beautiful to bring a smile to viewer's faces. Obviously, pastels were the perfect fit for the theme! “Pastels are something I’ve always wanted to work with and get creative with,” Amanda admits. We think she succeeded in making this day absolutely joyful!

WEDDINGDAY 61

BETH WATERMAN PHOTOGRAPHY

The Florals The flowers by Special Occasion Designs by Chrissy were a huge scene-setter in this shoot! From the statement-making floral display in the ceremony to the stunning flower arrangements on the tablescapes, the bright and colorful flowers are a delightful addition to this shoot. And we can't get enough of the bride’s fabulous bouquet that's boasting all those pops of color! 62

WEDDINGDAY

The Venue “I feel that The Ivory Foundry is a very versatile space,” Amanda raves. “We can turn it into any wedding or event theme that you can dream of.” Even though Amanda didn’t choose the venue, she knew immediately that she wanted to work with us there! With high, exposed wood ceilings, golden chandeliers and large windows, this venue is definitely a blank canvas perfect for any couple or wedding planner!

WEDDINGDAY 63

64

WEDDINGDAY

The Look How beautiful is our bride model in this elegant gown from Sophia’s Bridal? Amanda explains, “I wanted something slim fitting that showed a little back. It fit the model really well!” The lace detailing on the bodice and veil is truly showstopping. Any bride would feel like a queen on her big day in a dress like that! Hair by Morgan styled our bride with a loose, yet elegant updo and romantic makeup. Amanda says, "I told her what the theme was and I completely trusted her to come up with something gorgeous, and she did!"

WEDDINGDAY 65

' The Decor We are obsessed with the linens selected for this shoot. They add such a happy element into the design and bring the tablescape together beautifully. The colorful yet translucent dinnerware makes the tables joyful and light. Another gorgeous element of the décor are those neon signs from Simply Stunning Creations! “They really brought a fun element to the shoot,” Amanda gushes. We are also in love with the sweet stationery designed by PSR Designs!
