FEATURED WEDDING

JILLIAN & AUSTIN HELMUTH

Jillian needed a little push from above before taking a leap of faith with Austin. Although they had parted ways since meeting in college, it was a small action taken by Austin that would have big results years later. “During our freshman year at church, he had written his name in my bible at 1 John,” Jillian recalls. “Two years after I graduated, I found it when my pastor was doing a sermon on that passage and decided to reconnect with him. If that’s not a sign from God, I don’t know what is!” After writing letters to eachother and weekends spent together halfway between Pennsylvania and Indiana, the two finally found their forever.

THE PLANNING With a venue in mind and an “embarrassing amount” of Pinterest pins already in place, Jillian began planning the wedding she had dreamt about since the age of four! Her must-haves included ice cream, tons of flowers, rustic, industrial elements and nuptials that would reflect her and Austin’s faith. When it came to the vendors, most were either friends or recommendations from friends. This included a florist who was also a close friend, a friend’s mother with amazing baking skills and her talented caterer.

THE DRESS Jillian found and purchased a dress she thought she loved until a couple of months later, when her mom went shopping at Affairs to Remember. “She called me and told me she found a dress that she thought I would love and that I should come try it on. So I did and fell in love with it,” Jillian recalls. Her ball gown style, Private Collection gown proved to be the actual ‘one’ and—bonus—it had pockets, too!

THE VENUE Coppes Commons, located in Nappanee, Indiana proved to be the perfect pick. It offered industrial vibes, blank slate appeal and an incredibly helpful staff. Most importantly, Jillian and Austin could keep cool during their spring wedding (Austin’s only request).

THE DÉCOR The red infused throughout the wedding represents the groom’s favorite color. By coupling the vibrant hue with the lovely softness of gorgeous garden roses, peonies, Sahara roses, ranunculus, astrantia, eucalyptus, clematis, and other florals, Jillian was able to achieve the magical garden feel that she wanted. Rentals provided by Burns Rent-Alls also helped to tie in the red hues, complemented by touches of gold. Jillian’s dad also lent his handy D.I.Y. skills to create the arch and backdrops for the cake and string quartet. The sweet windows and gift table signs were also crafted by hand.

ADVICE FROM THE bride

This #happliyeverhelmuth bride says, “Try not to get stressed about little things. I thought I was doing okay, but then I totally blew up about cupcake covers— which is definitely not a thing worthy of a blow up. Keep going on dates with your fiancé and don’t talk about the wedding. When someone tries to give you unwanted advice just smile and say, ‘Thanks for the suggestion!’"

THE GOOD BONES behind a great wedding

Hoosier HGTV Star, Mina Starsiak Hawk, Finds Her Happily Ever After, After the Show

24

WEDDINGDAY

You may recognize this stunning bride from the hit HGTV series, Good Bones, a show in which the talented Mina Starsiak (now Starsiak Hawk!) and her mother, Karen, are single-handedly breathing new life into homes across their beloved hometown of Indianapolis. Blending creativity, brains and brawn, their impressive rehabbed properties are true hallmarks of their work. Being fans of the show ourselves, we were giddy with excitement to learn Mina recently got married and we were not surprised to see her wedding was just as gorgeous as one of her stunning remodels! As if planning a wedding wasn’t challenging enough, Mina was able to momentarily trade in her tank top and tool belt for a stunning gown and heels, balance filming and plan one of the most important events in her life—marrying her love, Stephen Hawk. And she seems to have handled it all with as much ease and humor as she does her hands-on profession and reality TV stardom.

STEREOSCOPE PHOTOGRAPHY

As the best guide for the Midwest bride, we thought this was an extra special opportunity to give our readers a glimpse into this Hoosier’s head-turning, Midwest nuptials. Read on for more inside details on Mina’s gorgeously timeless wedding and her inspirational photos!

Q

HOW DID YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND MEET?

A

A mutual friend introduced us is the story he tells. I say I picked him out on Facebook.

Q

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?

A

He sent me on a giant scavenger hunt around the city to all the places we had been on dates, and it ended with me finding him on the 50-yard line of the Colts training camp field. I’m a huge Colts fan!

Q

SO YOU JUST GOT ENGAGED, HOW DID YOU BEGIN THE PLANNING PROCESS?

A

I just jumped in head first. I was starting filming in a few months so had to get it all done before then.

Q

DID YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT YOU WANTED IN YOUR WEDDING?

A

I had an idea...all light colors (blush, champagne, gold and silver) with the guys in simple black tuxedos… very simple and classic. My venue was so beautiful it didn’t need a ton.

WEDDINGDAY 25

STEREOSCOPE PHOTOGRAPHY

Q A

WHAT INSPIRED YOU? I think I looked at Pinterest a lot to find pictures of the ideas that existed in my mind because I suck at explaining things with just words.

Q

WHAT PLANNING RESOURCES DID YOU USE?

A

My sweet friend, Emily, made me a three ring binder (lol).

Q

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR VENUE?

A

My husband learned of the venue when he was looking for a place for my surprise 30th. We didn’t use if for that because it was too large, but when he mentioned it for the wedding and we went and looked at it, I didn’t even need to see anything else. It was perfect!

Q

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE VENDORS YOU DID?

A

Jacquie's Gourmet Catering was referred to us by 1899. We met with them and did a tasting and were super happy, so we didn’t keep looking. Our DJ was a referral from our photographer, and when we met with him, he and my husband (who is the music guy) just clicked. Mr. Kinetik is his DJ name.

26

WEDDINGDAY

Q

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE YOUR COLOR SCHEME?

A

I wanted something timeless and soft.

Q

LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT DRESS! DID YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR OR DID YOU HAVE TO TRY ON A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT STYLES BEFORE YOU FOUND "THE ONE"?

A

My sweet, amazing friend, Adrienne Love, owns The Wedding Studio and she was my go-to. Literally, as soon as I walked in, the dress on the mannequin was perfect! Turns out that the dress on the mannequin was the same dress that she wore in her wedding the year before (before we were besties). It is the most amazing Romona Keveza gown. I’m a fairly low-maintenance girl, so instead of buying brand new, I just altered her dress a bit, and it fit perfectly.I then had a custom veil made! Always gotta be thinking budget!

Q

WHAT CHALLENGES OR FRUSTRATIONS DID YOU EXPERIENCE THROUGHOUT THE WEDDING PROCESS?

A

It was honestly pretty seamless. The hardest part was that I started filming during the whole process, and that was hard to balance at times. The week before, I actually cut my chest with a piece of siding and had to put makeup on it the day of the wedding.

Q

TELL US ABOUT THE SPECIAL OR UNIQUE TOUCHES THROUGHOUT THE WEDDING. WHAT MADE IT SPECIAL TO YOU?

A

Everything just looked magical, and all our family and friends were there. Instead of cake, we did 400 Long’s donuts. We didn’t have a sit-down dinner, we had yummy stations with Chicago-style hot dogs, sliders, mac ‘n cheese and tacos.

Q

WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DID YOU DO YOURSELF? FOR EXAMPLE, DID YOU DO ANY CRAFTS OR TAKE ON ANY PROJECTS FOR THE WEDDING?

A

We pulled together the centerpieces (which my wedding planner that we hired later added some amazing stuff to) and made the bridesmaids' bouquets out of fake white roses and hydrangeas. I found an amazing tulle skirt for our circular donut table on Etsy.

Q

WHAT FLOWERS WERE USED IN YOUR BOUQUETS AND CENTERPIECES?

A

Q A

The bridesmaids’ bouquets we made and were fake. My bouquet and the table flowers were just wholesale that my planner pulled together. NOW THAT YOU'VE PLANNED AND HAD A WEDDING, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER BRIDES? Nothing is that deep. It’s all just for one day. So don’t freak out. Don’t stress. Just enjoy it, and let your friends and family do the same. Also, do what YOU want, not what others want. We wanted fun food, not a sit-down dinner, and some of the older guests didn’t dig it as much.

Q

DID YOU HAVE A WEDDING HASHTAG?

A

#gohawkyourself (my new last name is Hawk)

Q

WHAT ARE A FEW THINGS YOUR GUESTS WILL REMEMBER ABOUT YOUR WEDDING?

A

The 400 Long’s donuts in a giant pile.

where two hearts joined A LOVELY AFFAIR IN SOUTH BEND

Like many young lovebirds, Jackie and Joe met in college. While Joe attended the University of Notre Dame, Jackie attended Saint Mary’s College. With fate in their corner, they met at a party at Sorin College--Notre Dame’s oldest residence hall. By senior year, the two had really gotten to know one another, eventually falling in love.

THE ENGAGMENT Joe proposed to Jackie in Avalon, New Jersey—a place Joe’s family frequently vacationed at growing up. Joe even arranged to have Jackie’s family and friends there as a surprise following the proposal. The newly engaged couple wasted no time in planning and even finalized their guest list on the flight home. While Jackie was raised in the Chicagoland area, the two felt that South Bend—the place they first met—would be the best place for their nuptials. Not only was it more affordable, they hoped to more easily find and book a venue big enough to accommodate their large guest list.

30

WEDDINGDAY

THE PLANNING Inspired by Pinterest and magazines, Jackie put her D.I.Y. wedding planner binder to good use, organizing everything from ideas and contracts to RSVPs and plate choices. For Jackie’s ceremony, she knew that her old dorm, the Holy Spirit Chapel, was the perfect choice. And after meeting with the Century Center in South Bend, she knew she didn’t need to look any further for her dream venue. “The Great Hall is unique, open and has a lot of character,” she explains. “I loved the big windows, the island and the river lights. So, I canceled the rest of the venues and booked a date!”

SPECIAL TOUCHES When it came to special touches, music was important to the couple. ”The music in the ceremony was truly beautiful and it was incredibly special that the entire church sang along,” Jackie explains. “It echoed through the small chapel we were married in, and I will never forget that.” Another memorable moment was a pit stop at the houses Joe and Jackie lived at their senior year as next door neighbors. We did a group tradition shotgun on the porch. It was so nostalgic to have a quick drink on our old front porch, where Joe and I spent so much time getting to know each other. Many of our wedding party members lived in those houses as well, so that was incredibly special.

WHAT WE

love

We love that this bride knew WeddingDay could provide all the localized info and inspo needed to plan her big day! Another thing we love...the unique guest book! “My brother made our giant Jenga guest book, which all of the guests signed,” Jackie explains. “He also had big cut outs of our heads made. Everyone danced with them. It was hysterical and a unique touch.”

The Guide to Finding Your Perfect Bridal Beauty Team

ABOUT THE AUTHOR // Andi Sherman, Something Blue Stylists Andi, Indiana native and owner of Something Blue Stylists, started her on-location bridal hair and makeup company while living in Southern California in 2006. When Andi and her family moved back to Indiana in 2014, she decided to start a second branch of her company to cater to brides in the Midwest states. The world of bridal beauty can seem a bit overwhelming at first and many aren’t even sure where to start. After 15 years in the bridal beauty industry, I think there are five key elements when choosing the team that is right for you.

1. RECOMMENDATIONS Ask your wedding vendors, especially your planner and photographer, who they like to refer their clients to. Lots of planners have a list of preferred vendors that they have worked with numerous times that have consistently proven themselves to be reliable. Cassie Conforti of Conforti Photography says “I choose vendors who I know will give my brides a high-end, professional experience, as well as someone who I enjoy working with. I only recommend those I think will help my client achieve the creative vision they have for their wedding.” Sarah Agee of Plum and Poppy Weddings says, “I always try to find out what my bride is looking for first in a vendor, and then I’ll recommend someone that I trust that is specifically suited to meet their individual needs.” 2. DO YOUR RESEARCH (AKA SOME LIGHT STALKING)

4. REACH OUT AND CONNECT

A successful bridal beauty team should have a social media presence which makes it easier for you, as a prospective client, to discover more about them and their style. If you’re seeing only selfies, heavily filtered photos, or just one style of makeup, take note. Just because a person is able to apply makeup on themselves, that in no way measures their ability to apply makeup on others. A professional makeup artist and stylist should have a diverse portfolio and be able to cater to a variety of faces and styles. Selecting an artist or stylist that has a strong portfolio in weddings typically means they are well versed in the delicate logistics that accompany a wedding morning. Frequently, hair and makeup artists are blamed for botched timelines, and most often it is due to lack of experience. Reviews from past clients, a comprehensive, professional website and a strong portfolio in the style that you are looking for are just a few of the key elements you will want to look for when narrowing down your search.

After you’ve narrowed down your search to a few top contenders, reach out to each prospective vendor. You’ll first want to make sure that they are still available on your wedding date. Brides are booking top vendors 12-18 months in advance, so to avoid disappointment, secure your date early! Most artists or stylists require a deposit or retainer to secure your wedding day in their books. If you aren’t ready to pull the trigger quite yet, ask for a quick phone consultation. Keep in mind...this person will be with you for the bulk of your wedding morning. You will want to make sure that you and your artist have a good connection and can imagine having their energy as part of your big day. Stylists and artists should be personable and helpful in answering your questions in a timely manner during their normal business hours.

"A SUCCESSFUL BRIDAL BEAUTY TEAM SHOULD

Sanitation and cleanliness on a wedding morning should be a top priority (I truly cannot stress this enough) and you want to make sure that the team you’ve chosen upholds the same state board regulated sanitation that is required in a salon. Artists should be using new, clean brushes for each client. Makeup brushes cannot be properly cleaned and sanitized between clients, even with the use of alcohol and spot brush cleaners. This is just the bare minimum to ensuring you and your ladies are not being exposed to a contagious illness or dangerous bacteria. Believe me, no one wants pink eye or a staph infection on their honeymoon. Don’t be afraid to ask these questions, as your health and the health of your bridesmaids is what is on the line.

HAVE A SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE WHICH MAKES IT EASIER FOR YOU, AS A PROSPECTIVE CLIENT, TO DISCOVER MORE ABOUT THEM AND THEIR STYLE." 3. DON’T BARGAIN BASEMENT Weddings are expensive. With the average cost of $35,000 in the United States, it’s no wonder that brides are constantly on the look out for ways to keep their wedding on budget. While there are licensed professional artists and stylists out there who are more budgetfriendly, your wedding photos are forever, and how you look in them is forever as well. Any bride that has had the misfortune of hating their wedding day hair and makeup would tell you that hindsight is 20/20 and there was no amount they wouldn’t have paid on the day of to have loved the way they looked.

5. DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK THE DIRTY QUESTIONS

Just like the feeling you had when you found THE dress, you should have the feeling when you discover THE hair and makeup artist for you. A sense of relief and excitement should wash over you after you’ve selected the team that is right for you and your big day. By taking care when selecting your preferred vendors, you are ensuring a smooth, stress-free morning on one of the most memorable days of your life. Happy planning!

M

elissa Mathis of Forever and A Day Events and Design had a vision of something feminine and metallic in her heart. She desired sparkle, all kinds of chic and pink. “I am obsessed with anything glamorous,” she says. The resulting look is as beautiful as it is edgy and enough to make us want to get a shiny tulle dress of our own. In describing the lovely Bianka Bridal gown, she says, “Its low cut, tulle and gems were a perfect feminine touch to this shoot. I wanted something that was feminine, chic and glamorous.” The elegant, curly braid and soft, pink makeup hues added the perfect level of glam to complete the entire look. While the white brick wall and wood floor served as an ideal backdrop, the metallic linen and ghost chairs from The Rental Company added the extra depth needed to really create an impressive atmosphere. The metallic gray and light pink palette is a perfect complement to the florals—comprised of astilbe, roses, ranunculus, tree blossoms, baby eucalyptus and seeded eucalyptus. As for that delicious cake and stunning stationery? The marble, gold, geometric design, metallic calligraphy and soft florals are the embodiment of metallic chic.

KAITLIN & NATHAN OPPENHUIZEN

A family trip to Europe turned out to be life-changing for Kaiti and Nate, a couple who went to high school together and reconnected years later after attending different colleges. This trip with Nate’s family provided them with the chance to see Germany, France, Scotland, and England—Kaiti’s dream. But the true highlight for Kaiti was visiting Chatsworth house in Derbyshire, England—the setting for her alltime favorite book, Pride and Prejudice. She had no idea an even bigger dream was about to come true, and her Mr. Darcy would be proposing to her. With her beloved Chatsworth House in the background, Nate knelt down with his very own handmade wooden box and proposed. Needless to say, Kaiti was ecstatic he made her own love story come true!

THE PLANNING

simple, botanical bliss

First deciding if they wanted a traditional wedding or a simple, romantic getaway, this couple decided on an intimate ceremony and dinner with 50 of their closest family and friends. The next task was finding a venue that would appropriately accommodate their modest group. The minute they toured Downtown Market in Grand Rapids, Michigan, they knew it would be perfect. “I started space planning, plotting layouts, color schemes, etc.—all before we ever left the venue,” Kaiti, an interior designer by day, says. “The greenhouse had us hooked and I knew it would provide the perfect balance of intimate, simple, fresh and all around botanical bliss.”

THE DRESS Kaiti thought that her dress would be one of the hardest elements to nail down for the wedding but—thanks to her great team—she found the dress of her Pinterest dreams. “I always knew I did not want a full or fitted skirt,” says Kaiti. “I wanted something flowy, comfortable and with a ton of movement. The old soul in me also loved the idea of a lace top to add a daintiness and hint of romance, but every dress I had found online had one or the other. I was beginning to think my ideal dress was a fictional Pinterest dream that was one in a million. I had found several bridal designers that I loved the overall look and style of their dresses and several of these lines were carried at Spring Sweet in downtown Holland, Michigan, where I ultimately found my dress.” The JLM Couture top she discovered was a match made in heaven for her stunning Willow by Waters skirt. While it was sheer and meant to be a coverlet, the talented professionals at Great Lakes Wedding Gown Specialists were able to add a nude liner and tailor the entire vision into a dream ensemble.

THE VENUE

THE DÉCOR

The Downtown Market’s greenhouse wasn’t only open and airy, it offered a natural separation of vines and columns between the areas for the ceremony and reception. The outdoor terrace offered a unique spot for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, mingling and an unexpected dance party—the perfect all-in-one package for the intimate ceremony.

Besides the chandeliers, this D.I.Y. couple also made most of the other detail items, including their own sweetheart and cake tables, unity tree stand and “Mr. and Mrs. garland.” They also refinished an old mirror to place their table assignments on and designed their own card holder stand. The D.I.Y. theme continued with the bridal party bouquets, made by Kaiti’s mom and the cupcakes and the bride and groom cake, made by Nate's aunt. Overall, the venue was kept simple with most of the color being derived from the natural elements within the space, including wood, florals, natural light and the gorgeous greenhouse vines.

Following their vision of a small, simple wedding true to their style, they let the allure of the downtown greenhouse aesthetic set the overall tone. Being natural planners, all the pieces came together easily for Kaiti and Nate as they crafted their intimate, botanical garden-themed wedding.

Kaiti explains, “The look and feel of the venue also transferred over to the bridal details with a neutral palette that pulled in the gray and greens from the eucalyptus and greenhouse florals but also mixed in some subtle hints of gold that were intermingled throughout the reception details and bridal accessories.”

WHAT WE

love

We love this gorgeous greenhouse as much as Kaiti and Nate’s guests did! From the botanical vibes to the wonderfully elegant palette, gorgeous Spring Sweet florals and great views, this wedding is as unique as it is gorgeous.

SPECIAL TOUCHES What do you do when your rental chandeliers are no longer available? You make them, of course! Kaiti’s wonderful husbandto-be came to the rescue and—backed by his love of woodworking— offered to take on the huge task of making three gorgeous, custom wood chandeliers, exceeding Kaiti’s vision. This bride not only loves that they showed up in so many of their photos, but that they ended up being a great conversation piece, too. “I can’t wait to look back at our photo album with our children and tell them how special their dad made our wedding day,” Kaiti says. The intimacy and size of the wedding also made it that much more special to this couple, creating lifelong memories. Another bonus was that everyone was on a first name basis, as they were able to have laser cut names made from wood at everyone’s place setting.

Party On!

When it came to planning his own wedding, Jesse Vogel, Century Center’s Director of Food & Beverage, was sure about one thing—he wanted a party! Not only did he want an event that was unforgettable (food, booze and bad dance moves aside), but a wedding reception that would be truly remembered by all the fun. How did this couple achieve this dream? Besides ensuring the dance floor was packed all night with the help of a great band, they decided to trust their vendors in taking the lead. Jesse explains, “Really, we didn’t look at anything for ‘inspiration’ like Pinterest or The Knot. What we did do is rely on our vendors to do what they do best and let them run with it.” Having known their florist, Polly McCarthy, for several years, Jesse knew he could trust her talented eye for design. “She gave us the idea of decorating the ballroom in the style of a 1950’s supper club,” he says. “One you would see in Miami Beach—bright colors, palm leaves and candles galore. We even moved four large palms out of the DoubleTree atrium and into the ballroom, and we placed up lights inside the large planter boxes and placed them between guest tables, anchoring the room.” 64

WEDDINGDAY

A WEDDING DREAM COME TRUE IN SOUTH BEND A party isn’t a party without a couple of signature cocktails, of course. Jesse and Nick appropriately named the two cocktails they offered all night, The Betty and The Camille, after their beloved pooches. Photos of the dogs, a drink description and a funny catch phrase were also displayed on top of the bar. Another personal touch? In lieu of wedding favors, the couple asked each of their guests to select from three different charities to which they would donate on their guests' behalf: The Human Society of Saint Joseph County (where they adopted Camille) the LGBTQ Center in South Bend and Beacon Health Foundation. Despite the years of industry experience under his belt, Jesse understandably wanted to take off his planning hat at the end of a long work week. However, having witnessed so much over the years, he knew that his wedding would benefit from all his know-how. “From making my place cards easy enough for the service staff to know which guest is having which entrée to having easy to follow signage directing guests to the Art Museum for the ceremony, I used every tool in my tool box—including seeking advice from friends in my industry to really make this the best event I have ever done.”

WHAT WE LOVE We love that in today’s D.I.Y. world, this couple decided to leave the planning to the professionals, allowing them extra time to truly enjoy their big day. “I really didn’t use any resources besides the resources of our great vendors,” says Jesse. “From our band to our contact at the DoubleTree, we used their expertise as our resource.” He also says, “Really take the time to hire experienced vendors and then trust their expertise. They can be your best planning tool!”

THE VISION Whimsy and elegance were two things that came to mind when designing this cover. We knew nothing could be more perfect for this concept than a Michigan wedding overflowing with all the rich colors, freshness and elements of summer the season had to offer—including some of its more delicious offerings! While we had more than enough inspiration to start with, one element we really loved served to shape the overall look and feel. “Peaches really led the theme,” says Nicole Marsh of Compose Events, our talented planner that brought this beautiful vision to life. “When you think of a Michigan summer, you think of fruits—peaches and cherries. We worked hard to find the perfect balance between pops of color, white space and creating an elegant look.” SAMANTHA JAMES PHOTOGRAPHY

THE VENUE What could be better for an upscale, summer wedding than lush, elegant gardens and a whimsical atmosphere? Henderson Castle was our venue of choice for this shoot. We knew with all its rich, historic details and other unique characteristics, it was the ideal backdrop for the dreamy vision we had in our hearts. “Henderson Castle was elegant and had beautiful grounds,” says Nicole. “There were so many lovely areas we could shoot from—gardens, a vineyard, a ballroom and an outdoor gazebo. The colors around the multiple gardens not only fit with the theme but allowed us to have many shooting locations to really take advantage of sun and shadow locations.”

SUMMER SPLENDOR // Cover Shoot

THE LOOK

THE DÉCOR

Our bride wore a stunning Paris House of Bridal dress. The lace bodice and flowing, tulle skirt were the embodiment of whimsy and grace, and the way the skirt flowed across the grounds only added to its elegance. Andi Sherman of Something Blue Stylists helped to shape the beautiful bridal vision by allowing the bride’s natural features to shine through with soft, neutral makeup paired with a more dramatic lash. Andi also pulled the bride’s hair into a romantically coiffed updo, perfect for a magical, castle wedding.

We aimed for an overall look that was vibrant and colorful yet soft and elegant. “Creating white space with pops of color where needed was essential,” says Nicole. “We so often see neutrals and greenery, especially with the green trend right now, so it was fun to mix things up and to be bold with our selection.” While the use of fresh fruit, watercolor paper goods and farm tables in non-rustic settings are trends that seem to be becoming more and more popular, we chose to further contrast our look using gold chiavari chairs, and the result was beautiful. Simplicity set the stage for our tablescape in order to let the sweet peaches, cherries and gorgeous paper goods and florals take center focus. “The gold silverware was the perfect touch to pull the chiavari chairs towards the floral arrangements,” says Nicole.

THE FLORALS Because we were working with so many vivid colors, we really had a blast incorporating so many different textures and tones in the flowers!” says Leah Bayes of West View Florist. ”The Coral Charm Peonies and peach David Austin garden roses were the focal flowers, while the orange Star of Bethlehem and hot pink Anemones added a punch of color,” explains Leah. The breathtaking arrangements were softened using pale pink Quicksand roses and white Majolica spray roses. Greenery was also a must-have. Trailing greenery and other unique blooms tied the elegant garden look together beautifully.

SUMMER SPLENDOR // Cover Shoot

THE STATIONERY Amanda McKey Designs created the ideal stationery suite, complete with elegant yet colorful fonts. “I presented two visions I thought would work well with our overall theme as well as our color palette and she came back with such gorgeous work,” says Nicole. “It was the perfect amount of pop and color to our overall aesthetic”

THE CAKE “As with everything else in the shoot, we asked Wildflour Cakes + Pastries to incorporate our peach led theme and supporting colors of burgundy and gold,” says Nicole. The elegant feel was achieved by keeping the base of the cake white. Colorful floral touches that mirrored the bouquet and centerpiece designs added just the right amount of delicate detail and color.
