Former star of Holby City, Emmerdale, Dream Team and more – Mark Moraghan - tells us about taking the musical stage adaptation road movie Little Miss Sunshine out on the road. What is Little Miss Sunshine about? Olive is Little Miss Sunshine. She’s a young girl with a dysfunctional family, who wins a place in a beauty pageant in California. All the family decide to go together in their grandpa’s old VW minibus. It’s about their adventures on the way. What made you want to be part of the production? Well, I thought the film was fantastic. I’m a big fan of Alan Arkin [who played Grandpa in the movie], so to follow in his footsteps, albeit on stage, is an honour. It’s one of those jobs you just really want to be involved in. What excites you about playing Grandpa? I like him because he’s a naughty boy. He’s been around the block a few times and he swears a lot. He doesn’t suffer fools and he tells it like it is. He’s been a bit of a ladies man in his past and he still thinks he is. He’s just a fun character to play. And the lines are a gift. It’s so well written. 4
People love the film. What is it that makes its tale so special? I just think it’s a lovely story. I think the American pageant system is very strange; kids being dressed up like adults. I find it all really odd. But Olive is the antithesis of those kids and she wants to do it. Her heart shines through and she just lets rip. I think there are lots of nice messages within the musical. And what does adding music and seeing the story performed live add to the experience? The music is phenomenal, and I think with musical theatre you can take everything up several notches. Alan Arkin’s film performance is very understated although brilliant, whereas on stage I am going to make Grandpa larger than

You’ve had an incredible TV career that spans dramas including Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Brookside, Dream Team and Holby City. Can you pick any highlights? I have been very lucky that I’ve had a really diverse career. You know when actors say ‘I chose to go down this path’? I think that’s nonsense, because the business tells you which path you’re going to be on unless your Dad is Sir So-And-So. You don’t choose your path. For a lot of years I kept on getting jobs in soap, which is one of the hardest disciplines for any actor, but I always wanted to do more film.
life. You have to do that to entertain the paying public. How do you do a road movie on stage? That’s where the brilliantly clever direction from Mehmet [Ergen] comes in. He’s made great use of props. The minibus itself is ingenius, the way it’s put together and the way the cast move around to make it all come together. It’s seamless and it works so well within the music, the soundscape and the storytelling.
How did you get into performing? At school. I was very lucky that I had great drama teachers in primary school. They cast me in my first role, Peter Pan, when I was 8 or 9. That gave me the bug. Then my drama teacher in secondary school saw something in me too. Without that I would never have gone on the paths I took. I’ve always just thought of myself as a jobbing actor. I’m nearly 40 years in the business and I’m still doing it. I thank my lucky stars I’m still able to do it. I’ve always said I won’t retire. Ill health may retire me, but given the choice I’ll go on until I drop really.
What excites you about touring the show? It’s great playing lots of different venues. It sounds a bit sentimental, but I love theatres. I love Matcham theatres especially. When you get to play a grand old space and you think of all the people who’ve trodden the boards before you… I also love arriving at a new place and seeing what the atmosphere’s like and exploring the town. It’s just great fun. And there’s a great sense of camaraderie with the cast. You’re family away from home. You become a tight knit group and everyone looks out for each other.

Living for the summer months
When you just live for the summer months, don't spend this special time trapped inside four walls, make a break for the outdoors. Create out a living space in your back garden. What could be better than fresh air, comfortable surroundings, family, friends and the glories of nature (well, at least a few potted plants and some curious robins)? Before you relocate your favorite chair to the deck, patio or porch, let us look at a few different ways to make your outdoor living area more convenient and fun. Outdoor living may seem carefree and casual, but to add comfort to the mix takes plush textiles and comfortable furnishings. Sure, built-in concrete seating has a modern appearance and is maintenance-free, but it also looks like it belongs out in an amphitheater somewhere, not cuddling your backside on a warm evening.
Your outdoor room will feel as good as it looks when you choose loungers, chairs and sofas that include overstuffed cushions in UV resistant fabrics. Have a look around your indoor living room. You'll probably see lots of mementos and decor items designed to stir memories and make your guests feel welcome. To work outdoors, homey touches will have to be all weather and heavy enough to stand up to a stiff breeze. Consider installing a woven grass rug or mat to define the seating area, and then include tables and lamps. Throw in some pots and planters for color and interest. Including decorative, natural elements always works for an outdoor space. As nice as it is to be outdoors during the summer, maintaining your landscape can still be a hassle. Don't make the job worse by installing an outdoor living room that will make maintaining your lawn and other landscape features more difficult. Don't forget to get your orders in for sheds and furniture as this time of year everyone is wanting this yesterday.

Which wedding dress suits your body shape? Finding the right wedding dress is probably the most crucial thing for any bride-to-be. Unfortunately, the search for the perfect dress is both tricky and frustrating – often because brides are not really sure which type of dress they should be looking for. To get a dress with the perfect fit, it’s essential to choose one which suits your body shape and flatters your figure. This will not only make you more comfortable, but you’ll also look and feel more beautiful.
Here’s our guide to help you find the perfect dress:
Hourglass An hourglass figure is one where your top and bottom halves are perfectly balanced, with a very defined waist. Dos: Often seen as a body shape which can wear anything, it’s still best to pick a dress that accentuates your waist, as this will show off your best asset. Two-piece gowns will enhance an hourglass figure. Don’ts: As your chest and hips are already balanced it’s best not to add weight to either half. Avoid empire-line silhouettes and ball gowns. Dos: Hourglass figures also look great in corset dresses Dos: Sweetheart necklines and bodices emphasise a fuller bust. Dos: If you’re a bit more curvaceous, try a trumpet style dress Dos: A-line dresses with a dropped waist show off an hourglass bride's balanced figure.
Triangle shape If you are a triangle shape, you are wider on the top of your body, with hips narrower than your shoulders. Dos: A V-neck dress works well to cover up wider shoulders. Don’ts: Puffed sleeves will draw attention to your shoulders, as will halter and off10

Apple shape More voluptuous than most, apple shapes have full breasts, a bit of a tummy and a rounder bum and hips. Dos: An empire-line dress will de-emphasise your waist, giving you a leaner look. Don’ts: Princess-line and basque dresses draw too much attention to your middle, and a sheath will make you look heavier. Avoid spaghetti straps which can cut into your shoulders. Pear shape Just like the fruit, you’re smaller on top than the bottom, with hips wider than your shoulders. Dos: Princess style dresses disguise fuller hips and put the focus on your better half, balancing your torso and bust. Slim figure Short or tall, you have a ballerina’s figure, with an undefined waist. Dos: A sheath will flatter your slender shape. Don’ts: Avoid portrait, off-the-shoulder or halter necklines if your collarbone is too bony. Dos: Slim is one of the few shapes can get away with a high neckline. Dos: A ball gown with a fitted bodice and full skirt will create the illusion of curves. Dos: Delicate embroidery and beading in the right places can also create a more curvy silhouette.
Petite figure 5’1” and under - you’ve got a petite frame. Dos: Simple is best. Clean, unbroken contours without too much fabric will elongate your figure. A sheath is perfect. Don’ts: Most silhouettes flatter your figure, but ballgowns and mermaid dress tend to overwhelm. A big, elaborate dress can look as if it’s wearing you. Dos: Narrow A-line dresses also work well for petite brides.
Tall figure Tower above your friends like a catwalk model? You’re a tall figure. Dos: Tall brides can carry off almost any dress style. Just pick the best for you. Don’ts: Stay away from empire line dresses, which risk looking almost tent-like on willowy frames. Dos: Tall brides can also try princess dresses. Dos: A-line dresses are another great look for tall girls.

When budgeting is a concern, keep your guest list to immediate family and the closest of friends. Not only will this save you wads of cash, but you will enjoy spending this meaningful day with the people you value the most.
The dress Many women spend a good chunk of their lives dreaming of the beautiful frock we will wear on our wedding day. It is possible to find a gorgeous gown for far less than the astronomical prices charged by bridal shops. There are lots of alternative options to get a beautiful and even designer gown at a far lower price than at a bridal salon. eBay, and secondhand shops all have beautiful gowns at a fraction of the cost. Many bridesmaid dresses are available in white or ivory and cost a fraction of what bridal gowns do. Don't buy an expensive veil. You would be spending around £100.00 for fabric that really only costs £1 per yard. Buy the fabric and have one made or wear a beautiful jewelled comb or flowers in your hair.
The reception Your reception will probably be the most expensive chunk of your day. Consider these tweaks: Have your wedding on a Friday or Sunday. Don’t have a dinner party - brunch, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, dessert/champagne and cake will all save you tons of cash over a full dinner. Still want an evening meal? Go for a buffet with chicken, pasta and in-season produce instead of beef. You'll save the cost of extra waiters and expensive ingredients.
The music Have an iPod or iPhone? Then you have your DJ. Playlist weddings are becoming increasingly popular as couples can choose exactly the music they want, no matter how obscure or alternative it may be. Load up playlists for each portion of your wedding: pre-ceremony, ceremony, special dances, dinner, dancing, etc. Ask a member of your party to act as MC for announcements. With live DJs asking £££s for four hours, and bands costing in the thousands, using an iPod can save you a pretty penny, and be completely personalised. Really love the idea of live music? Hire musicians from a local music school to play at your ceremony. They are just as skilled and far less expensive.
Flowers Wedding flowers can easily run you into the thousands. To cut costs, make sure you order only blooms that are in-season. Order loose stems and make the arrangements yourself. This is not nearly as difficult as it sounds! You might also try ordering flowers without mentioning they're for a wedding, because sometimes the simple mention of matrimony can bump the price up a couple notches. Just say you're buying flowers for a party.
You can skip... Favours: Most guests throw them away anyway. If you really want to leave something, bake treats yourself, or make a small donation to a charity in memory of a cherished relative, placing a card at each setting explaining the gift. Save-the-dates: Save the date cards are an unnecessary expense, unless you're having a destination wedding. Video: Chances are you will only watch a wedding video once or twice. Add this money into your still photography budget.
Don't skimp on Photography: Hire the absolute best photographer that you can afford. If you try to cut corners here, you are guaranteed to regret it. A great photographer is one of the most important investments you can make. Remember, you are asking them to record a piece of family history. Drinks: It’s a personal choice to serve alcohol or not, but if you do offer free drinks offer only beer and wine, a signature cocktail or champagne punch. Also be sure to have plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available.
Bottom line Saving money does not have to mean skimping on style. With a little imagination and creativity, you can have a gorgeous wedding on a shoestring budget. Screwdriver INGREDIENTS - Serves 6-7
Orange wheels (sliced thickly) 2 Lemons 11 oz Vodka 5 1⁄2 oz Aperol 17 oz Fresh orange juice Club soda, to top Garnish: Thyme sprig Orange wheel Method
1. Lightly muddle the orange wheels at the bottom of a pitcher. 2. Hand-squeeze the lemons into the pitcher, and discard the shell. 3. Add the vodka, Aperol and orange juice and fill with ice. 4. Top with the club soda and gently stir. 5. Garnish with thyme sprigs and orange wheels. 6. Serve in a Collins glass.

Team Life&Style took a recent trip to newly-opened KPASA on London Road... Sheffield is renowned for having some of the best restaurants in Yorkshire, so imagine our delight when a new / old face emerges on the popular eating area of London Road. Some of you may recognise the name, as KPASA has actually been around since 1991 and used to reside on West Street, so they're no strangers to the industry.

Serving authentic Italian, Mexican and Spanish food this restaurant is definitely up there with the best of the best. All of the dishes are freshly cooked on the premises and all the meat is halal. Dario the manager/head chef has a wealth of experience. He has owned a number of restaurants in the city and has recently moved to join the KPASA team from Picollinos, his passion for food certainly shows in his dishes. The restaurant has such a warm welcoming holiday feel definitely somewhere you want to take the whole family. Bright and inviting, the attention to detail in this restaurant sets it apart from all the others around. We decided to visit one lunch time, the menu is a set two course served from 12 noon, at a cost of only ÂŁ6.50. We placed our order of chilli piquitos, which is fresh chilli filled with cream cheese covered in breadcrumbs deep fried served with a chilli salsa. My friend ordered nachos. The starters looked and tasted superb, the chilli piquitos were so tasty and had a kick. I've never tasted a starter so good in a long time. My friend was equally as impressed with her nachos. The size of this dish was as big as any main course I've seen. For our mains we went for Penne Al Pollo. Penne quills cooked in chicken with broccoli, asparagus, carrots and topped with roasted pine nuts. My friend selected the burritos. All I can say is WOW. The pasta was cooked to perfection, chunks of juicy chicken and fresh crisp vegetables and the added pine nuts gave it that extra taste. The burritos were just as good. Spicy meat in a beautiful flour tortilla,

The restaurant owner Majid prides himself on offering the best service in his restaurant and although it isn't a licensed premises (but serve the best none alcoholic cocktails around) you're more than welcome to bring your own alcohol.
Majid also likes to put something back into the community and is regularly seen working alongside many homeless charities in the area donating masses of cooked food daily to make sure people don't go hungry. This restaurant is definitely a must visit but evenings are getting really busy so it's advisable to book a table. Oh and make sure you're hungry as the portions here will fill you up for a week! 18

Choose your Cruise One type of holiday that has really taken off in recent years, is cruising.
I think the main reason for this is that the prices have become very competitive, due to there being so many ships and companies to choose from. There are seven new ocean cruise liners due to launch this year alone. This is great news, whether you want to try a cruise for the first time, or whether you are a seasoned cruiser, because it means that there will be a ship out there that’s just right for you. Cruise ships vary in size, from Star Clipper’s four masted, 170 passenger Tall Ship, to Royal Caribbean’s 5479 passenger Harmony Of The Seas, due in Spring 2016. There are informal ships, such as those operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, where you don’t have to wear formal evening wear, and you can dine at any time in a wide choice of restaurants, or more traditional ships, such as Fred Olsen’s, that have early and late sittings for dinner, with at least one formal night during your cruise. Fred Olsen also offer great value if travelling alone, with lower single supplements than the majority of companies. If you prefer to cruise in luxury, then Silversea, Seabourn or Crystal are good choices, offering very high standards, and include beverages and gratuities in their prices. You can do as much or as little as you like, but if you are someone that gets bored easily, there will usually be something going on to keep you occupied from early morning until late at night. Depending on which ship you are on, you may be able to take cookery lessons, listen to a lecture by an expert speaker, learn to speak a language or take part in a Zumba class. There is also the option to go on excursions and see the local sights which many people do. There are lots of possibilities for families too, including Royal Caribbean ships, with their rock climbing wall, ice skating rink and FlowRider surf simulator. Some others that are great for families are Norwegian Cruise Line, Disney Cruises, Carnival and Princess, to name but a few, with kids clubs for various age groups and activities to keep the children entertained. They also try to outdo each other year on year, with innovative creations to excite and amaze, from robot bartenders to bumper cars at sea. What will they think of next?! At a time when customers are looking to get good value for money, and something a little different, cruises are a great choice. You can visit lots of different places in one holiday without having to pack and unpack again. You have got entertainment included, and if you don’t like flying, you can take a cruise that sails from the UK.
