MEET HOME GLOW ARCHITECT & INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT MANAGER, Nadja Radulović

Nadja Radulović took time out of her busy schedule to share some insights into her work and inspirations at Luštica Bay.

1. What inspires you when designing homes in Luštica Bay?

This is a stunning destination with uninterrupted views of the Adriatic, and I’m inspired by the way in which the town is crafted to blend into its surroundings and echo the style of traditional fishing villages of Montenegro. With so much sunlight, I’m immediately drawn to the Mediterranean Style which has timeless appeal and can easily be modernised by pairing contemporary or modern furniture with historic architecture and natural features. Use of natural materials in finishes and decor such as wood, rattan, tile, ceramics, terracotta, wrought iron, linen, and cotton are key to this style and we can go for natural palettes or more vibrant patterned elements, depending on taste.

2. How does Home Glow cater for the Mediterranean Style aesthetic?

We provide a large selection of brands that seamlessly lend themselves to the elements of Mediterranean interior design. The brand that immediately comes to mind is Spanish company Mahe Homeware. Their products are handmade using natural materials, often by local artisans and these beautiful items are created with respect for the environment.

3. Why is the Mediterranean Style so perfect for Luštica Bay?

Luštica Bay exudes that Mediterranean’ al fresco’ lifestyle. Large common areas with open layouts and plenty of seating for family and social gatherings are a mainstay. It’s all about coming together to enjoy a good meal, good conversation, and being able to enjoy both indoors and outdoors with ease. Interior and exterior design flow together bringing the outside in, and the inside out. This indooroutdoor balance is perfect for this coastal lifestyle.

Airy, breezy interior spaces with dazzling natural light and views of the outdoor are essentials to this vibe. Warm white plaster walls and natural stone flooring with texture finish that allows natural imperfections to show through material textures are a signature backdrop of Mediterranean interior design. It allows us as interior designers, to incorporate natural materials for furniture and decorative objects such as rattan, wicker, straw, rope, jute, linen, and cotton and make mesmerising interiors.

Creating Beautiful Spaces

at Luštica Bay

We joined Home Glow Architect & Interior Design Project Manager, Nadja Radulović to find out about some of her projects at Luštica Bay. Describing the design process, she said “The first thing we do here in Home Glow is to sit down with the client and come up with a design concept. The goal is to understand their desired outcome, which we analyse in terms of implementation.”

Visions into Reality

While designing this apartment it was important to create bright and airy spaces and to highlight natural materials like wood and stone. We

installed a kitchen island with marble top, which we replicated in dining area. This white marble piece with its transparent glass tabletop gives lightness to the whole area. Combined with the wooden framed and white leather upholstered chairs it was a winning choice. The living room exudes natural tones with sand colour upholstery for the main seating area which is complemented by an abstract painting by Montenegrin artist Dušica Ivetić. Contrast black was used for part of the wall unit. To balance the intensity of white in the sleeping zone, we added textured upholstery for the queen size bed in creamy-green colours. Dušica’s art is also placed in this bedroom area to give it a little splash of sea colour. To make it more interesting we accessorised nightstands with table lamps in natural rope material.

Bold Statement

Each client expresses their style in a unique way, this time their wish was to go with darker colours in the

living area. The idea was to evoke a specific mood by strategically using natural materials, sunlight, wood and metal. We highlighted the main living area but kept a small reading corner with bright lampshade. The Toluamide Bochart

carpet connected all the colours, textures

and materials into one

coherent story.

Essence of Mediterranean

The apartment required more of a Mediterranean style. A centre piece wooden wall unit was incorporated with an earthy yellowish toned sofa bed which was lifted by the white coffee table and bright carpet. The dining room features a spectacular dining table accompanied by two handmade rattan chandeliers by Mahe Homeware. We used the same textures in the office room to connect the style through the whole apartment.

Relaxing Natural Palette

This apartment makes the most of gentle natural tones enhanced

by light which connects to stunning outdoor views. The apartment has a huge L-shaped terrace perfect for balmy summer nights under the stars. The outdoor set

in dove grey colours is a perfect match for the natural stone pavement and warm plaster tones. The interior is neutral,

creating a sense of space with earthy colours as an accent.

These palettes perfectly reflect the natural

environment.
