LONDON TO LUŠTICA: Our Lifechanging Coastal Escape

INTERVIEW WITH HOMEOWNER: INTERIOR DESIGNER EVELINA ANDERSON

Evelina Anderson is an interior designer and property developer who, along with her family, made her way to Luštica Bay four years ago and has made it a ritual to return each year! While originally from Poland, Evelina has lived in England for the last 15 years, alongside her husband Stuart, their daughter Annabelle and their two beautiful yorkies; Pepsi and Lola. The family are among many who have purchased property in the bay and made Luštica a part of their life. We spent an afternoon with Evelina to get the lowdown on what it was that brought her to the community and what really sets it apart from the rest!

1. How did you hear about Luštica Bay and what was your first impression of the destination?

I came across Luštica Bay on booking.com when I first decided to spend some time in Montenegro.

It’s safe to say that I fell in love with this destination Bay at first sight! I absolutely loved the architecture and the feeling of inner peace that I found here. The bbeautiful, calming view of the open sea with the striking background of the mountains makes this place extra special!

2. In your opinion, what is the thing that makes Luštica a place to belong?

You never get tired of Luštica Bay! This incredible place offers a sense of peace and tranquillity that can’t be found elsewhere. I am excited to be a part of the project during its infancy and look forward to witnessing its steady and continuous growth.

3. How did you decide to purchase an apartment in Luštica, and can you describe the moment you made this decision?

In hindsight, I think I made the decision to be a part of Luštica Bay from the day I arrived in my rental apartment! I loved the fact that Luštica isn’t your “typical development”, and I absolutely loved the architecture of the properties, the greenery, and the attention to detail. I remember I called my husband and told him that I wanted to buy a property here! He thought I was being silly - but as always he supported my decision. I was so lucky I met Ana from sales department and she told me about the fantastic opportunity of being able to sign up for the payment plan that allows you to pay for the property in 16 instalments. This month I made the final payment so I can now proudly say that I am the owner of a property in this fantastic development! 4. You live between London and Luštica – do you think you can describe the contrast between the two different communities and lifestyles, and how do you balance the two lives as a family?

Luštica offers an escape from the hectic day to day life of the inner city and the hustle and bustle of the London lifestyle. The laid back of life and the great quality of the coastal air recharges both the soul and mind! London’s city lifestyle can be very overwhelming, so Luštica Bay feels like an escape from that life and an opportunity to recharge our batteries.

5. What are your favourite activities to engage in, especially during the winter?

My husband is very keen on tennis and is looking forward to seeing how the new Centrale tennis courts play. I personally enjoy being able to walk in the sunshine with my new-born daughter to explore the newly developed parts of Luštica Bay. Although, I’m also really keen to try the new golf course once it opens. There’s so much choice for us all!

6. As an interior designer how inspired were you to design your home in Luštica Bay, and where did that inspiration come from?

I spent many months leading up to a handover of the apartment with a concept in mind. It was important for me to keep a theme of “being at one with nature” choosing colours to accentuate the Lovćen mountains and surrounding areas. As important as the aesthetics of the apartment, I wanted it to be functional and cosy at the same time. I based the whole design around an image of Mount Everest that I purchased at an auction at the Maddox Gallery in London. It was important for me to bring a bit of our London home with us, back to our new home in Luštica!
