The monthly Support Group Newsletter will no longer be emailed out each month. It will now be posted on The Center for Bariatric Surgery website at https://www.lifespan.org/centers-services/center-bariatric-surgery/patient-newsletter . Please visit https://www.lifespan.org/centers-services/center-bariatric-surgery, as well as the Facebook Weight Loss Striders group page, for important announcements or for any changes or cancellations to support group meetings. For the Tuesday June 27th 5:30-6:30 pm support group, guest yoga instructor JoEllen Hockenbrough will be guiding us through some gentle seated yoga poses. All are welcomed to participate and for ease of movement in your chair, please wear loose or comfortable clothing and feel free to bring a bottle of water with you as well. Upcoming cancellation: There will be no support group meeting on Monday September 4, 2017 due to the Labor Day holiday observation. Please plan your upcoming support group attendances wisely to ensure that you fulfill your pre-surgery requirements.

FEATURED RECIPE OF THE MONTH Vanilla Mango Spinach Smoothie From Cook Nourish Bliss at www.cooknourishbliss.com

Ingredients& Materials Needed  High powered blender  Measuring cups & spoons  1 cup frozen mango chunks  1 cup packed fresh baby spinach leaves  ¾ cup low fat/fat free and/or unsweetened milk of your choice  1-2 tsp. freshly grated ginger*  1 scoop of your favorite vanilla protein powder  1 Tbsp. ground flaxseed  1 tsp. pure vanilla extract  Natural, calorie-free sweeteners (to taste) such as stevia or monk fruit  Few Tbsp. cold water or ice cubes as desired Instructions 1) Add all the ingredients except the water or ice cubes to the high powered blender. Process until the mixture is smooth. Use the water or ice cubes as needed to adjust mixture to the desired consistency. Serve chilled & enjoy! * Feel free to add more or less fresh ginger to the recipe based on your personal preference.
