Want to speak to a weight loss surgery mentor for additional support throughout your journey?
WASHING: Wash and scrub all fresh produce thoroughly under running water. This will help remove bacteria and traces of chemicals from the surface of fruits vegetables and dirt from crevices. Not all pesticide residues can be removed by washing. PEELING: Peel fruits and vegetables to reduce dirt, bacteria, and pesticides. Discard outer leaves of leafy vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage and kale. FRUIT & VEGETABLE WASHES: The Food and Drug Administration does not recommend using fruit/vegetable washes since this may result in residue left on the produce and can also change the flavor of your produce. However, some manufacturers argue that their produce washes are water soluble and do not leave residues. Using any of these washes comes down to personal preference.
