You might think playing the ukulele is quite a niche past time but if you were in the vicinity of Mount Gambier’s Cave Gardens on Saturday you would have seen a sea of strumming singers with around 70 players from across the region’s many ukulele groups getting together in what organisers hope will be an annual event. Heather Zeck (pictured) was not just one of the brains behind the annual ukulele jam session but has been a driving force behind the resurgence of the art, in tandem with a group of fellow ukulele aficionados. The combined Limestone Coast Groups played for two hours in the Cave gardens, attracting plenty of onlookers.
Luke Pedlar was hailed a draft bolter after the Adelaide Crows took the former Kingston junior at pick 11 when most pundits did not have the inside mid, already with a reputation of winning the hard ball and inspiring team mates with his courage and determination, going inside the top 20. Luke watched the draft at home in Kingston with family but it didn’t take long for a crowd to appear.
