Sister set to scale a tall building to say thank you to charity
FAMILY SNAPSHOT: Brittany Case and brother Joe Lockwood created plenty of special memories together at Ronald McDonald House. Brittany Case has never abseiled in her life but the 25 year old is set to scale the InterContinental Hotel in Adelaide as her first outing – all in the name of charity. It is a poignant stunt, raising money for Ronald McDonald House, a charity that has been a key part of her family’s life, and because it is Spiderman-like, a favourite superhero of her younger brother Joe Lockwood. With a target of $800, Brittany is already at the $1100 mark with
plenty of time left for people to donate to the cause. Apprehensive about tackling the abseiling challenge, Brittany was inspired by an Adelaide based Ronald McDonald House volunteer Colleen. “She did it in 2019 and is doing it again this year and she is 85 so I figured if she can do it, surely I can do it,” Brittany said. Romance is in the air A good author writes what they know and Maya Linnell knowns life in regional Australia. A former journalist in the Limestone Coast, the Narrawong-based romance author will launch her much anticipated third novel Magpie’s Bend at 7pm, Thursday, June 3 June, at the Portland Library.
The ‘In Conversation’ event will discuss Linnell’s publishing journey, life as a full-time writer and the local inspirations for Magpie’s Bend. Library and information services manager Tanya Flockhart was thrilled to welcome the popular author back to the Library.
“The Glenelg Libraries are delighted to host another book launch for Maya Linnell, whose books are some of the most requested and borrowed items at our library service,” she said. See inside for full story
