The Benefits of Drinking Water

The Benefits of Drinking Water

With Lauren Twigge, MCN, RDN, LD

Your body and organs are primarily water. Start drinking water like your life depends on it— because it does!

Drinking water helps with:

• digestion regularity

• organ health

• chewing and swallowing

• chemical reactions in your body

• temperature regulation

• joint lubrication

• electrolyte regulation

• rehydration after excessive sweating

A Helpful Note

From a Registered Dietitian

Set realistic goals.

Don’t expect yourself to go from zero to 100 in any area of your life. Create goals that seem doable and achievable. Establish a timeline to track your progress (try tracking it for a month). In that time of self-reflection, be real and even consider creating a new goal if your original goal has become a habit!

Categorize your goals.

Don’t try to change too many things about your diet and your exercise alone. Pick one to two from each category and add in other areas like sleep, family, and more.

Write your goals down.

Write your goals down and keep them in a visible area. Out of sight, out of mind. Try to keep these goals in a place you’ll see them regularly.
