Fitness with Jenny Dean BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF
IT’S ALMOST SUMMER, AND IT’S TIME TO FOCUS ON YOUR HEALTH. And that means no excuses. Are you ready to make a life change and be the best version of yourself? If so, meet Jenny Dean. She’s not your average fitness instructor. She’s a true, authentic believer in the ability to use fitness to change every aspect of your life—your health, your friendships, your career, your relationships with your partner and your children. She’s making huge waves in the fitness world and has changed the way Frisco feels about getting healthy. Just ask Mayor Jeff Cheney, who never misses a Jenny Dean class. Jenny’s mission is to create a community with like-minded people who support and lift each other up daily. “We rise by lifting others,” Jenny says. “I believe when you are in your best physical shape it affects every aspect of your life. Your work performance improves, your relationships get better, your confidence increases; it affects how we live every day.” To change your life, Jenny believes in incorporating these components into your daily routine. HIIT it Hard for the Summer – Short workouts have great value and can be done several times throughout a day or can be a great way to utilize 10 to 20 minutes of time. No one really has an hour to work out anymore. Jenny Dean Fitness will launch a series of high-intensity interval training workouts on her website.

These quick, effective HIIT training workouts that can be done at home or in the office. Make this a no-excuse year! The Benefits of POWER Yoga – Yoga is the healing exercise of the decade. Just a few quick things yoga can do for you: increases stamina, strength and flexibility, tones the muscles, alleviates stress and tension, eliminates toxins, promotes blood circulation and boosts the immune system—and not to mention a big calorie burner! Jenny Dean Fitness will be launching on her website a 45-minute POWER flow yoga class that can be done in the comfort of your home. Sleep – Jenny believes sleep is more important than your daily workout. How we sleep sets the tone for the entire day. Did you know when you get less than seven hours of sleep a night, your performance decreases, your lung function decreases, your injury rate increases by 60 percent and

has 100 excuses as to why we shouldn’t work out. We all say we are too “busy” to work out. The reality is, if it is important to us, we will find a way. Get motivated by keeping a picture of a body you like on your phone. Look at it every time you want to skip that workout. For the days you can’t make it to the gym, take a walk around the neighborhood. Eat Right: Fuel Your Body – There is so much information about what diet to try, what to eat, when to eat it—it can all be very confusing! Jenny Dean approaches her food choices as if she’s putting gas in her car: If she doesn’t fill the car up, it doesn’t go anywhere! So, if you do not feed your muscles and brain, it will not perform for you. Jenny doesn’t believe in diets. She believes in eating clean, wholesome foods. If it has to be stored in the pantry, she’s not eating it. So everything is fresh and has a shelf life. Tips and easy options are available on Jenny Dean’s website. Healthy is about finding what works for you. Healthy can be hard; life gets in the way, and that’s OK. “I want people to understand that when you choose to do better, healthy feels awesome,” Jenny says. lactic acid buildup increases, causing muscle fatigue and muscle soreness? WOMEN OF FRISCO
(CON TI N U ED)
Destiny Adams DESTINY ADAMS Destiny Adams has been an active Frisco native since 2003. Her mother, who served for our country in the military as well as within the Frisco area as a teacher, modeled hard work and determination to Destiny. At a young age, Destiny has already made a name for herself in this community with her successful business, InCast Marketing. WHAT MADE YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE EVENT STAFFING FIELD? After competing and winning in a DECA competition, I felt that this industry was the best place for me. WHAT DID THE COMPETITION CONSIST OF? We were asked to come up with and design a business plan. I came up with a plan that included creativity and thinking outside the box and placed second in state. HOW DID INCAST MARKETING DEVELOP? After making many connections within the community, I set out to find solutions for companies that needed assistance in managing events, and I have been able to consistently build my portfolio each year. WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR CURRENT CLIENTS? I have worked with Sprint, Bumble and the Fantasy Football Convention, just to name a few. As Frisco continues to grow, so does my clientele. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU'VE LEARNED SO FAR? You can never follow the path that others want you to take. You are in control of your own destiny and future. For more information, visit InCastMarketing.com.

Nicole Bursey NICOLE BURSEY
With decades of social work experience and working within state governments, Nicole Bursey gained knowledge on how to best help families. She decided she wanted to begin working with families directly and became the executive director of Frisco Family Services. Having served in her role for more than eight years, she and the giving team at Frisco Family Services offer a variety of service and assistance to families in need. They have helped raise more than $1.1 million in funding through donations and annual events held throughout the year. FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT KNOW, TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT FRISCO FAMILY SERVICES OFFERS FOR FAMILIES. We are an organization that provides hope for families that need guidance and assistance. Our programs and services are ever-changing with creative measures to create solutions for struggling families. This includes helping the homeless, family members coping with job loss, medical expenses and everyday needs. During the holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, we help to distribute food as well as offer a gift assistance program. HOW DO YOU KEEP ALL OF THESE PROGRAMS AND EVENTS ORGANIZED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR? Each family is assigned a case manager who will meet with the family and create an overall "audit" of sorts—look at their current financial situation, their immediate needs at the time—in order to decipher the best course of action to best provide assistance. We will keep in contact with the family in each case. The case manager will be available for any questions, concerns and logistical issues that arise. WHEN GATHERING FEEDBACK FROM THE FAMILIES, WHAT IS THE GENERAL CONSENSUS YOU RECEIVE IN TERMS OF YOUR ORGANIZATION? No matter what arena we help families in, be it assistance with placing food on their tables, help with utility bills or even books for their education needs, most all will claim that our assistance helps them be able to continue to be contributing members of society, which helps to keep their sense of dignity. For instance, if we help with providing groceries one month, families are able to pay their other bills in full such as a mortgage. ARE THERE ANY UPCOMING EVENTS THAT THE COMMUNITY COULD GET INVOLVED IN? Our annual Mayor's Golf Classic is being held on June 17 at the Stonebriar Country Club. All the proceeds will go toward the programs and services we provide. We currently help more than 3,447 individuals. Citizens can visit our website for sponsorship opportunities. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD PASS ON TO OTHERS? My mantra has always been "Do things for the right reasons." When you practice this, the right things will always end up happening. Diavola Pizza
CUT! IS A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND IN-THEATER DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT VENUE. The first and only one in the country opened in Frisco in early March. The city of Frisco was chosen with careful consideration. Frisco is known as a city of innovation when it comes to entertainment, with it being the home of the Star and FC Dallas, so it made perfect sense to open the first Cut! in America in Frisco. The one-of-a-kind dine-in theater concept boasts a kitchen, a full bar, 10 theaters and an entertainment area with outdoor and indoor games. The menu is what makes Cut! stand out. The pizza is hand-stretched, the tomato sauce is made from scratch, and everything is made fresh right on-site. The theater's bar carries more than 30 beers—many from local breweries—and signature cocktails like the Ghost Margarita. There's no shortage of space for you to relax while you're waiting for your film—or if you don't want the fun to end after the movie is over. There are different social areas throughout the theater, including a banquet room, a game room and a patio. When it comes to watching the movie, you'll never want to go back to ordinary theater seating after sitting in the theaters' luxury loungers. With wall-to-wall screens, digital projection, an enhanced sound system and rows of speakers, you'll feel like you're part of the film. Cut! lets you enjoy big blockbuster films in the best possible environment. It trumps any movie night at home. It's the perfect setting for date night, girls' night out or even family night. Cut! offers you not just a movie, but an experience.
