NOW OFFERING IN
LOWER FACE & NECK LIFTS
Many people are happy to discover that they can get the rejuvenation results they want with a minimally invasive, lower facelift or neck lift. A lower facelift or neck lift focuses on the parts of the face that are below the corners of your mouth. We use a minimally invasive technique that is less traumatic and offers less downtime, but with comparable results to a traditional facelift. You can expect improvement in the appearance of wrinkles and creases around the mouth, removal of excess neck skin and tightening of the jawline and jowls.

COLLIN CREEK IS BACK, AND EAGERLY AWAITING THE RETURN OF LOYAL PLANO RESIDENTS
This is an artistic rendering. For illustration purposes only. Subject to change without notice
BACK TO THE FUTURE
In 1981, Collin Creek opened its doors as Plano's first large-scale shopping mall. Maybe you or your kids roamed its halls, listening to Bette Davis Eyes while dressed in leg warmers and shoulder pads. Or perhaps oversized sweaters and big hair were more your style. For decades, families visited the mall for shopping and entertainment alike. It was a hangout spot, a special place that many neighborhood residents still remember fondly.
Factors such as changing demographics and evolving shopping patterns eventually led to the mall’s closure in 2019, effectively bringing this community-centered legacy to a halt.
Fortunately, this story has a happy ending. While dressing up like Madonna may have gone out of fashion, the mall itself certainly has not. It is back — big-
• Eight acres of park space and 1.6 miles of walking trails
• Single-family homes, which are already available for purchase.
Looking toward the future, here’s what Romo had to say about this exciting project:
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE REVITALIZATION PROJECT OF COLLIN CREEK IN PLANO?
“The Collin Creek revitalization represents an extraordinary effort to honor Plano’s history while creating a vibrant mixed-use space for future generations. What excites me most is the blend of modern amenities, like upscale dining and luxury living, with
“THIS PROJECT IS NOT JUST ABOUT CREATING SOMETHING NEW; IT’S ABOUT REIMAGINING A BELOVED LANDMARK WHILE PRESERVING ITS SENTIMENTAL VALUE.”
ger, better and eagerly awaiting the return of loyal Plano residents.
A joint public-private partnership between the developer Centurion American Development Group and the city of Plano has been the catalyst for Collin Creek's revitalization.
“I have been associated with Centurion American for over two decades. The most rewarding part of my role is seeing the tangible impact of our projects on communities,” said Rob Romo, vice president at Centurion American. “From revitalizing historic spaces to creating modern developments, it’s incredibly fulfilling to oversee projects that not only enhance the local economy but also improve the quality of life for residents. Being a part of such transformative projects is both challenging and deeply satisfying.”
In the past, Collin Creek stood as a beloved gathering place. Today, construction efforts are recapturing its essence with the addition of large-scale residential and commercial areas. This includes:
• 300,000 square feet of retail, including 60,000 square feet dedicated to restaurants
• A master-planned community featuring 500 single-family homes, 2,300 multifamily units and 300 independent living residences
the charm and nostalgia of the mall’s legacy.”
WHAT MAY BE DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS REVITALIZATION PROJECT COMPARED TO OTHER PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN IN TEXAS?
“Unlike other projects, Collin Creek is deeply rooted in community history and memory. This project is not just about creating something new; it’s about reimagining a beloved landmark while preserving its sentimental value. We’ve also incorporated extensive community engagement in the planning process, ensuring the final result reflects the desires and needs of Plano residents.”
WHAT IS CENTURION AMERICAN’S OVERALL VISION FOR THIS MALL?
“Centurion American’s vision for Collin Creek Mall is to create a vibrant, multifunctional hub where people can live, work, shop and play. We aim to balance the nostalgia of the original mall with cutting-edge design, including luxury apartments, boutique shopping and creative public spaces that encourage community interaction.”
The renaissance of Collin Creek comes with yet another outstanding feature. According to Romo,
“The economic impact will be substantial, generating hundreds of jobs during construction and thousands more once the development is operational. It will also attract new businesses and residents, increasing Plano’s tax base and stimulating growth across the retail, hospitality and real estate sectors.”
Nonetheless, some residents have expressed concerns about traffic congestion. “Traffic management has been a top priority in the planning process,” Romo said. “We’ve collaborated with local transportation authorities to enhance road infrastructure, add traffic signals and design efficient access points. Additionally, pedestrian pathways and bike-friendly routes are being
“THE ECONOMIC IMPACT WILL BE SUBSTANTIAL.”
incorporated to reduce reliance on vehicles within the development.”
While Centurion American has undertaken hundreds of projects, this one is truly unique. “The Collin Creek project stands out for its scale and complexity, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, including green spaces, pedestrian-friendly designs and environmentally conscious construction practices,” Romo said.
While some may be ready to leave behind their neon colors and Cyndi Lauper ballads, others may find joy in reviving those memories at the new and improved Collin Creek. Exciting times lie ahead for Plano.

A Love Story for the Ages
Brad Johnson and Amri Carrasco-Johnson met as teenagers through the Plano ISD drumline program and began dating in 2018 at just 16 years old. Their story is not one of fairy-tale simplicity but one of resilience, love, and commitment through life’s greatest challenges.
Soon after they began dating, Amri was diagnosed with a rare immune system condition that required a bone marrow transplant. “I thought for sure Brad would break up with her,” Amri’s mother recalls. “But he stayed by her side as we navigated the grueling process of pre-transplant testing.”
On New Year’s Day in 2020, during her senior year of high school, Amri and her mother flew to the National Institutes of Health in Maryland for what would become a four-month journey to receive the transplant. The procedure involved chemotherapy to wipe out Amri’s immune system, followed by the introduction of donor cells to rebuild her immunity.
Her father, Michael, and sister, Hava, made frequent trips to visit, and Brad came along as often as possible. Despite the transplant’s success, Amri remained fragile. When the pandemic struck in early 2020, she was discharged early, returning home before full recovery. Over the summer and fall, Brad and Amri practiced strict social distancing and masking, even while spending time together in the family’s backyard.
Amri’s determination was evident as she completed her high school requirements from her hospital bed in 2020. By 2024, she had earned her master’s degree. “We call her our phoenix,” her mother says, “because she gloriously rose from the ashes.”
Brad quickly became part of the family, spending much of his time immersed in their close-knit dynamic, complete with quirky traditions and inside jokes. By the spring of 2023, he had a plan to solidify his place in their lives forever.
Brad approached Michael and Amri’s mother for lunch, where he asked for their blessing to propose. True to the family’s creative spirit, Brad wanted to incorporate their annual Easter tradition—a multihour treasure hunt for the girls’ Easter baskets—into his proposal. The family eagerly agreed, keeping the plan a secret from Hava.
On Easter morning, the family donned unusually nice attire, with the excuse of capturing a family photo at one of the treasure hunt stops. The final location was Haggard Park in downtown Plano, a meaningful spot for Brad and Amri, as it was where they had taken countless pre-dance photos during high school.
As the family arrived at the park, they discovered a trail of jelly beans leading to an archway adorned with hearts. Hava froze upon seeing what was ahead, while Amri broke into a full sprint toward Brad, who was kneeling beneath the arch, holding a giant golden Easter egg. In front of both families, Brad proposed, and Amri joyfully said yes.
In October 2024, the couple exchanged vows under the same archway, now covered in vibrant paper flowers. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, they pledged to choose love and respect, to support each other through life’s trials, and to prioritize their relationship above all.
“Surrounded by their closest friends and family, they pledged to choose love and respect, to support each other through life’s trials, and to prioritize their relationship above all.”
“These two know hardship, they know loss,” Amri’s mother says. “But they also know recovery, empathy, and how to find light in the darkest times.”
During her Maid of Honor speech, Hava was overcome with emotion but managed to deliver one final sentiment. When someone asked her how it felt to be getting a new brother, she replied, “I don’t know what you mean—I’ve had a big brother for six years.”
The love and resilience shared by Brad and Amri are a testament to their strength as individuals and as a couple. For their families and everyone who knows them, their story serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of love to endure and triumph, even in the face of life’s greatest challenges.

A LABOR of Love
THE ANDREA-MENNEN FAMILY FOUNDATION LOVINGLY FOCUSES ON EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE AND THE PERFORMING ARTS
ARTICLE BY FATIMA DURRANI PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
When it comes to The Andrea-Mennen Family Foundation, the words “power couple” come to mind. Christina Mennen Andrea and Rudy Andrea are the driving force behind the philanthropic efforts of The Andrea-Mennen Family Foundation.
The foundation lovingly focuses on education, health care, and the performing arts. “These three things help a person’s life become better,” reflects Rudy Andrea.
It all started with Christina’s love of children and her long track record of volunteering at Children’s Medical Center Plano. For years, Christina cuddled babies, comforted parents, and helped overwhelmed nurses tend to sick children.
In 2000, the couple launched the foundation, lending their assistance and expertise to organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Collin County and new programs, such as being the title sponsor for the Collin Classic Bike Rally and supporting the Children’s Health Red Balloon event, among others.
“While we have donated tens of millions to various charities, Christina’s volunteer work at Children’s Health made us feel particularly close to the organization, its people, and its mission to make life better for children,” Rudy says.
The couple also supports the Kathy Chamberlain Ballet School in Plano and the Plano Symphony Orchestra. “We want to get younger people involved with all kinds of performances; to come out on a Saturday night with their families.”
They also created one of the largest endowment funds for Collin College.
Their latest labor of love includes a $5 million donation to build the new patient tower—an expansion of Children’s Medical Center Plano. The 395,000-square-foot tower will triple the campus’s bed capacity as Children’s Health expands access to complex, critical, and specialized care for families across the North Texas region and beyond. Highlights include:
• 140 universal and ICU-capable inpatient beds, increasing the total to 212
• A brand-new Emergency Room that has nearly doubled in size, with 48 exam rooms and the resources critical to building a Level II trauma center
• State-of-the-art imaging and radiology capabilities with advanced MRI, CT, PET, CT, and SPECT/CT scanners, as well as expanded X-ray and ultrasound equipment
The impact of the Andrea-Mennen Family Foundation’s gift reaches far and wide, as changing demographics will significantly affect health care in the coming years. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex has become one of the nation’s fastest-growing and largest metropolitan areas, with a population exceeding 7.5 million. By 2025, the area’s population is projected to reach 8.6 million, and the youngest members of our community are growing in numbers as well:
• Currently, the pediatric population in the DallasFort Worth region is almost 2.5 million, a number expected to grow by more than 20% by 2032, surpassing 3 million children and doubling by 2050.
• Emergency services have seen a 27% increase over the past decade across the Children’s Health system.
• Clinic visits for cancer and blood disorders outpatient services in Plano rose by more than 36% in 2023.
• Today, 25% of Texas’s population is age 17 or younger, meaning more than 1 out of every 4 people in our state is a child. Comparatively, only 22% of the U.S. population is pediatric.
Beyond simple supply-and-demand logistics, these trends raise concerns about the quality of pediatric care. “In the next 10 years, there will be somewhere between 3 to 4 million children this hospital will be able to serve. With the rise of young communities in Allen, Frisco, and Plano, access to the best care will be critical. The Plano campus will also help because of its central location, serving—and perhaps saving— those who would otherwise be forced to drive all the way downtown,” says Rudy Andrea.
If Christina is the heart of the foundation, then Rudy is the beat. As February—the month of love—reminds
“If Christina is the Heart of the Foundation, then Rudy is the Beat.”
us to celebrate compassion and giving, we honor The Andrea-Mennen Family Foundation. Christina traces her love of philanthropy back to her great-grandparents, German immigrants who instilled the value of mentorship and service. “The value of mentorship is taught and handed down. We got our kids involved, and each of them has gone on to support their own charities. They’re all active in their communities,” she says.
“It’s easy to write a check—but at the end of the day, that check can’t solve all the problems. It takes everyone’s time and money—and that’s our emphasis. Everybody has something to give,” adds Rudy. “We are blessed to live where we live. Christina’s words, ‘Unto whom much is given, much is expected,’ inspire me and constantly call us to action.”
For more information on volunteering, visit www. tamff.org/contact-us. If your organization is interested in receiving a grant, please review the guidelines at www. tamff.org/grants-awarded/grant-requirements. Building the Perfect Bouquet
Valentine’s Day can be celebrated in many ways. Some people choose to go out for dinner and a movie, others hire a private chef for a romantic meal at home, some buy chocolates and find a fun activity in town, and some couples go out of town for an exciting getaway! One Valentine’s Day staple is giving a bouquet of flowers to someone special. Flowers are the gift that say I love you and can be given to your spouse, children, and mom. As a child, my father always got me roses on Valentine’s Day until I met my husband and he took over the tradition. A bouquet of flowers can say many things as each flower has a different meaning. If you’re wanting to say something special to the ones you love this Valentine’s Day, take a look at our list of three popular flowers, what they mean, and what flowers to pair them with.
Roses
LOVE & ROMANCE
Roses are by far the most popular flower to give on Valentine’s Day. They are beautiful by themselves or you can add Baby’s Breath to enhance the bouquet. These two make a romantic bouquet and are the perfect flowers to give to someone special.
Lilies
PURITY & FERTILITY
Lilies come in a variety of colors and are eye-catching! For a softer looking bouquet, pair your lilies with carnations. These two combined are fun and heartwarming and are a great gift for anyone.
Tulips
PERFECT FOR DEEP LOVE
A bouquet of tulips will brighten any space! Adding some Ranunculus, also known as buttercup, will compliment the tulips wonderfully. These flowers have a refreshing look that will decorate any home beautifully in a crystal vase.
