How did the owner, Stan Penn, achieve

Let’s start with a passion for what he does. After spending 30 years in banking, Stan says “I now feel like I never have to go to work”. He and his staff are baseball fanatics and travel around to various cities to watch a game. While there they make a point of finding that cities best Irish pub, so they can learn from others. It’s probably not necessary, but worth it when he and General Manager, Nick Keim, hear someone say, “It’s not Ireland, but it’s so damn close!” It’s obvious the employees love working here. Maybe it’s because, when you do a good job at The Celt for a period of time, they take you to Ireland. It’s not only a great reward but helps create a true Irish experience. However, the employees all

recognize the importance of customer relations and know many of their customers by their first name, what they do, and their families. After knowing he wanted to open an Irish pub for about 15 years, Stan started looking for the right spot. When he walked into the current building at 100 N Tennessee St, he simply fell in love with what was once a brothel and is on the Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk. Nick had been with the previous business, Churchillâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s, for several years and welcomed the much livelier atmosphere, which offers live music 6 nights a week, trivia, and an open mike night. The new community, The Cotton Groves, located off Bumpus street in East McKinney, will feature thirty-five, 3-4 bedroom single-family homes when completed late summer 2020. The homes will have 1280-1440 sq/ft with 3-4 bedrooms, respectively. Each features a second-floor balcony serving as a carport for the ground floor. A choice of three different exterior finishes will be offered. Sixty percent of the home will still retain the original metal appearance. Funds are still needed to complete the planned amenity center, computer lab, playground, and townhomes. Habitat is actively looking for financial partners to help with this amazing project.

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN MCKINNEY IS KNOWN FOR ITS CULTURE AND CREATIVITY. Ricky Phillips, owner of hōme∙ol∙o∙gy, embodies these concepts. While his shop is full of stunning, one-of-a-kind home furnishings, his passion and innate creativity for interior design was the catalyst for launching the showroom. Ricky spent 20 years in finance, specifically in the mortgage department where he loved seeing the joy of a young couple’s face when approved for their first mortgage. However, his love for interior design and furnishings initially spilled over in 2013 into the week-ends when the shops current location was the Home and Garden Trading Company, which housed booths for everything from auto products to what Ricky started out with, candles and knickknacks. Their booth ended up growing exponentially in sales, which proved to Ricky that his efforts of traveling around to local areas to pick up great products, which he stored in his garage, was time well spent. That venture lasted about a year and after encouragement from friends and family, Ricky decided to take the leap and signed his first lease. On February 14, 2015, he

When asked what he enjoys the most about owning his own business, Sammy said, "The end result." He likes taking pictures of completed projects and how happy his customers are at the end of the process. There are numerous photos of floors, kitchen cabinets, and countertops, as well as a variety of remodeled showers. Throughout the year, Sammy offers special promotions to customers. You will want to check those out when considering a remodeling project for your home. When not working on his business, Sammy enjoys spending time with family and friends, just hanging out. He also enjoys traveling. Due to the nature of being a business owner, he can generally only take 3-4 days off at a time, which limits his travel to mostly the United States. After traveling to many states, Sammy enjoys getting back home and says that his favorite state is Texas.

THE “SMILE MAKER” DR DOUG JENSEN IS A TRUE LONG-TIME TEXAN WHO GREW UP IN NORTH DALLAS AND PLAYED FOOTBALL AT RICHARDSON HIGH SCHOOL. He began to pursue his first love, aviation when he was just sixteen. He flew his first solo flight over in Denton and obtained his pilot’s license at the age of seventeen.
