“Art affects people depending on how they experience it. It can just make your day better when you hear or see something that makes you smile. You can make a statement whether large or small. As an audience member you can just enjoy the beauty of dance.” DAN GUIN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF BOCA BALLET THEATRE There are many reasons to donate to the arts. The arts bring us joy and beauty and foster creativity. In addition, the arts strengthen communities and builds bridges between cultures. According to Mr. Guin studies confirm the benefits of having a culturally active community. “Arts uplift community’s spirit, have a large economic impact, and give young people the passion, focus and discipline to succeed in life." But, where does your donation go? That may just depend on the organization that you donate to. For the most part, your donation goes to the operation of the art organization. WHY ART ORGANIZATIONS ASK FOR DONATIONS? It’s important to note that individual donations provide the lion’s share of art organizations' causes. As a matter of fact, it exceeds 80 percent of non-governmental income. Donations are a way of fundraising. For the Boca Ballet Theatre the donations are used to support programming. JOEL BASCO AND DANIELA BORQUEZ HOLCHTHE WINNERS OF FOOD NETWORK CAKE WARS (PADDINGTON BEAR EDITION) ARE CULINARY ARTISTS WHO HAVE BROUGHT THEIR EXQUISITE CREATIONS AND SCRUMPTIOUS BAKERY TO BOCA RATON. Growing up in the Philippines, Joel watched his aunt make amazing wedding cakes. Although his first career was working as an accountant, Joel took baking classes at The Institute of Culinary Education and at The New School Culinary Arts in New York. He is best known for his cake making creativity and drama that are achieved with accuracy and restraint. Daniela, a native of Santiago, Chile, developed her love for pastries in her grandmothers bakery shop. The tradition, passion and importance of high quality ingredients have been the foundation of Daniela’s creations. Daniela studied at The Culinary Arts Institute in Chile and was mentored by Chef Mark Bliss of Bliss restaurant in San Antonio, Texas. Together they created J &D Cakes. old WE’RE SHARING TIPS, TRICKS + UNIQUE WAYS TO INCORPORATE YOUR ANTIQUE ITEMS INTO YOUR HOME

ANTIQUES ARE MAKING A COMEBACK. Whether you’re an antique aficionada, a thrifty thrifter or new to the whole concept of vintage revival; whether it’s a hand-me-down, a thrift-store-find or just something cool you stumbled upon at an estate sale; endless opportunities exist to effortlessly incorporate retro, vintage, antique or whatever-you-want-to-call-them items into different parts of your modern home.

wood to your liking.

Don’t be afraid to do something different, and don’t take things too seriously. If the piece you’re working with doesn’t have any real value, you have so many options to liven it up, including paint, finish and hardware.

Make your piece multi-purpose by turning the lid into a game table or by storing your cocktail accessories inside for an easy-access mini bar!

Spread the vintage love. Use antiques strategically and as accent pieces to keep your overall aesthetic from coming off as too dated.

Repurpose old tins, mugs, teacups or storage containers into succulent gardens. Because succulents have shallow root systems, they can survive (and thrive!) in smaller spaces.

Make it art. Don’t be afraid to display unique pieces as wall art. Consider creating a gallery wall that mixes vintage photographs, prints, mirrors and china.
