Naples Lifestyle | November 2018
WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE SHOWROOM OF REAL WOOD FLOORS, NOT ONLY WILL YOU BE GREETED BY AN ARRAY OF HARDWOOD FLOORING CHOICES BUT YOU'LL ALSO GET TO MEET GABY SAAD, THE STORE'S BUSINESS DEVELOPER AND MANAGER. And no doubt, she'll have a cup of coffee in her hand. Gaby will offer her customers a cup too, while she shows you the ins and outs of choosing the right hardwood floor for your home. And it's her personalized level of customer service and kind smile that make patrons' stress levels decline. "We stand out from other companies in the flooring industry because we are experts in wood floors and wood floors only," Gaby says. Specializing in and manufacturing their own unique and fine wood floors, Real Wood Floors—unlike other retailers that simply sell a variety of brands made by multiple other manufacturers—is vertically integrated, meaning they are involved in the entire process—from sourcing the lumber and making their own plywood for the engineered products to designing and crafting the floors, and distribution and retail. They even have their own glue made. But what really sets Real Wood Floors apart is its role in helping children get adopted and find their forever family by connecting with American families or couples who are looking into adopting, and, in many cases, sponsoring the entire adoption process. "Our purpose is global and not only in our community. We will not rest until we can find a home for every orphan child in the world,” Gaby says. “We have sponsored and facilitated about 29 adoptions so far. We also build schools for orphan children, sponsor orphanages and build playgrounds for the children. We grant scholarships to orphan teenagers who want to go to college and more. We have mainly worked in places like Zambia, China and Indonesia, but there are no limits for us when it is about children who need a home." Gaby was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She moved to the U.S. by herself when she was 25 after graduating from the University of Buenos Aires. She then moved to Miami in 1995. "I thought I was young and unstoppable, so I could do and conquer anything I wanted in the world, even speaking very little English and with no family or friends around me. Being an immigrant is always a challenge, but when you do it on your own, it is a lot more complex. Nevertheless, I always felt victorious, happy and blessed. In very few years, I was able to buy my first home and own multiple successful businesses in Miami and then in Naples.”

Gaby relocated to Naples in 2002 and joined the Real Wood Floors family in 2014 when the company opened its first retail showroom. “When my children were in elementary school, I wanted to spend more time with them. Then Real Wood Floors approached me to join their project of developing the entire state of Florida starting with Naples,” she says. “At the beginning, I thought that because I am a born entrepreneur, I could never work for anybody, and I was ready to decline the offer. However, the owners and CEO gave me the freedom, trust and support to run the business as if it were my own and shared with me why we exist as an organization and the impact we make in the lives of orphan children around the world. I just couldn't say no." When Gaby isn't helping people make the right decisions for their home's flooring, she can be found enjoying Naples' fabulous sunsets at the beach; enjoying time with her husband, two children and enormous female cat, Coco; watching documentaries or movies based on true stories; or planning her next trip overseas. And her favorite flooring? "All-wood floors have their own beauty, but the ones that captivate my heart the most are the reclaimed ones,” she says. “We have a full collection of true reclaimed floors made with materials from many different parts of the world that range between 100 to 400 years old. Each of them has its own story. Some are made specifically with parts of old doors of buildings in Europe. Others are domestic and made with parts of decks and fences, while others are strictly made with reclaimed wine barrel oak and show exquisite features like the original winery stamps and Sharpie marks. When they had a red grape, the inside of the wine barrel will show these pink, maroons and purple tones coming from the natural process of aging the red wine."
Real Wood Floors’ Naples location is one of four family-owned and managed companies originating from West Plains, Mo., with close to 40 years in the lumber industry. The company's headquarters and warehouses are in Missouri, and there are Real Wood Floors galleries and offices in Naples, Atlanta, Denver and Nashville, in addition to 13 distribution centers all around the midwest and Texas. For more information or to find the perfect floor, visit RealWoodFloors.com/Locations/Naples.

KUNG PAO AVOCADO INGREDIENTS + Avocado + Cornstarch + Water + Panko breadcrumbs + Basmati rice, cooked + Red and green bell peppers + Red onion + Soy sauce + Ginger + Garlic + Cashews + Sesame seeds
DIRECTIONS Peel and cut avocado into 6-8 slices. Combine cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Dip avocado in the slurry and then into the Panko breadcrumbs. Fry avocado in deep fryer for a few minutes until golden brown. Meanwhile, slice red and green bell peppers and red onion and saute them in a combination of soy sauce, fresh ginger and garlic. Plate the rice, place the sauteed peppers and onions in front of the rice and pour the soy ginger garlic sauce over all. Place fried avocado slices on top of peppers and onions, sprinkle with cashews and sesame seeds and serve. 34
