Smyrna Vinings, GA February 2025

From the Editor . . .

Dear Readers,

February is here, and with it comes a wonderful opportunity to slow down and appreciate the people, places, and moments that make life so sweet. While Valentine’s Day might be the most celebrated day of love this month, we believe it’s the perfect time to embrace a broader definition of love—one that includes our families, friends, and the community we call home.

This issue is our love letter to Smyrna Vinings, a place that offers so much to celebrate. Whether it’s savoring a romantic dinner at one of our amazing local restaurants, discovering the history behind Smyrna’s beloved clock tower, or cheering on the success of a hometown business led by one of Campbell High’s own, you’ll find plenty of reasons to fall in love with where we live.

"Love local" is more than a slogan; it’s a way of life. It’s choosing to shop at family-owned businesses, meet friends for drinks at a neighborhood spot, or simply enjoy a stroll through our streets with a renewed sense of gratitude. It’s also about the people—our friends and neighbors—who bring warmth and heart to our community. In this issue, you’ll hear directly from some of them as they share what makes Smyrna Vinings special to them.

As we move through the still-chilly days of February and catch glimpses of spring around the corner, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on what you love most about this area. Whether it’s a favorite hangout, a tradition shared with loved ones, or the joy of discovering something new, let this season remind us to cherish it all.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your life and for letting us celebrate this wonderful community alongside you. We hope this issue inspires you to show some extra love to those closest to you—and to Smyrna Vinings itself.

Warmly,

@SMYRNAVININGSCITYLIFESTYLE

Launch Efficiently

Last month I discussed the key foundational items needed to get a business started (business address, website domain, business phone, and business email address), as they are used in the process of setting up everything else. This month we look at some planning considerations so you can efficiently start your business with minimal cash burn. Businesses fail every day because they didn’t have a realistic financial plan. Identifying required steps and costs is a reality check on your business dream. It helps you decide to move forward confidently and efficiently with a clear picture of what is required to succeed.

The money faucet starts to flow once you start your business. The goal is to hit the ground running with minimal capital drain before revenue starts being generated.

Consider that you will have some minor expenses to legally form your business as an LLC, corporation, sole proprietorship, or partnership (more on these next month). You will be ordering business checks, business cards, and will likely need to set up an initial website. (Note: A common mistake is spending most of the available startup funds trying to make an amazing website. If possible, start with a simple template-based website). Set up your accounting software or online account and start making the entries from the start.

Consider Overhead: These are the indirect costs associated with running a business that just keep the business operational. Overhead expenses don’t drive revenue, or contribute to producing your product or service. Examples are phone bills, virtual office cost, monthly bank fees, website hosting, email, annual business license and state registration filing costs, software, rent, utilities, etc. Take the time to itemize these expenses as part of your planning and budget process. The amount of overhead varies dramatically based on the business. These amounts usually stay roughly the same every month, or at least can be budgeted as monthly expenses, even if paid annually.

Burn Rate: Look at your available funds and based on your monthly overhead, figure out how long you can operate your business with no revenue. Then start to make projections of revenue and associated costs over time and see how that impacts your available funds. Don’t forget to factor in advertising expenses, which typically scale up as revenue increases. As entrepreneurs we often think revenue will come in faster than what really happens. Plan conservatively and know that you need to get out there and do the hard work to build awareness and make sales.

Identifying operational costs is key to an efficient business launch.

CHEERS TO Community!

The Stout Brothers Beer Market has become a beloved local treasure in Smyrna, seamlessly blending a passion for great beer with a welcoming community atmosphere. Brandon King, the visionary behind this popular destination, shares a heartfelt story of inspiration and growth that has endeared The Stout Brothers to locals and visitors alike.

Brandon’s journey began with a dream of opening his own restaurant. After years of trying, his path took a poignant turn in 2011 when he received a small inheritance from his late mother. Determined to honor her memory, Brandon sought a venture that would make her proud. Around the same time, growlers were legalized in Georgia, and a bar regular, Thomas Monti, encouraged him to explore the concept. The Stout Brothers was born, its name reflecting a nod to both their physical stature and the partnership they envisioned. While Thomas later pursued his own success with Schoolhouse Brewing, Brandon forged ahead, bringing his dream to life.

Discover exceptional brews, a welcoming atmosphere, and a heartfelt story at Smyrna’s beloved Stout Brothers Beer Market.

The Stout Brothers’ ever-changing menu is a testament to their commitment to craft beer excellence without pretension. Whether you’re a seasoned beer aficionado or a curious novice, the market’s lack of snobbery and welcoming vibe ensures a fun and approachable experience for all. Visitors rave about the unique and rare offerings, the friendly staff, and the family-friendly environment—yes, even your furry friends are welcome! This one-of-a-kind establishment is more than just a beer market; it’s a community hub.

Liz Hardy, the general manager of The Stout Brothers, has brought her dedication and deep roots in the Smyrna community to the forefront of the store’s growth and impact. Her leadership has guided the store in community involvement, including puppy rescue efforts, supporting local charities, and championing public safety initiatives. Liz’s passion for giving back has been instrumental in establishing The Stout Brothers as one of Smyrna’s central gathering places, where residents feel a genuine sense of belonging.

The Stout Brothers team shares an appreciation for Smyrna’s community spirit which has been a cornerstone of their success. They credit local events, festivals, and the camaraderie of Smyrna’s residents for creating an atmosphere where businesses thrive. This vibrant environment fosters connections and helps small businesses like The Stout Brothers flourish. It’s this synergy between local enterprises and community engagement that makes Smyrna Market Village a special place.

Looking ahead, Brandon and his team remain committed to maintaining The Stout Brothers as a hub for craft beer enthusiasts and a beacon of community warmth. His vision honors his mother’s legacy and celebrates the shared passion for craft beer that brings people together.

HOMEGROWN TALENT SHAPES LOCAL BUSINESS WITH PERSONAL TOUCH.

From Customer to Creator:

A Smyrna Success

For Sahad Walker, Smyrna isn’t just where he works; it’s home. A proud graduate of Campbell High School’s Class of 2015, Sahad’s journey from student to Head Store Operator at Instant Imprints Smyrna is a story of dedication, creativity, and community spirit that resonates throughout the town.

His connection to Instant Imprints began as a curious customer during his high school years. Frequent visits to fulfill small orders sparked his interest in the craftsmanship behind custom apparel and signage. That initial curiosity blossomed into expertise, eventually leading to his current leadership role at the Smyrna franchise, where he’s become a familiar face to local businesses and residents alike.

Today, Sahad ensures that the location maintains its local heart, despite being part of a larger franchise based in San Diego. What sets Instant Imprints Smyrna apart is its focus on relationships. Sahad and his team take pride in knowing their customers by name, creating an environment where people feel valued as part of a community, not just as clients. This attention to personal connection has transformed routine transactions into meaningful interactions.

“Seeing smiles on the customers’ faces and their reactions is one of the greatest rewards of my work,” Sahad shares. This commitment to personal connection has become his trademark in the community.

CONTINUED >

Among his most meaningful projects was creating custom cheerleading uniforms for Campbell High School’s JV squad in 2022. The intricate design process, complete with glitter accents, allowed him to give back to his alma mater in a uniquely personal way. “It was an honor to contribute to the school that helped shape who I am today,” he reflects with pride.

His time at Campbell High School laid the foundation for his leadership approach. As head of the yearbook committee, he learned valuable lessons about collaboration and creativity—skills he now applies daily in his work with both customers and staff members.

“At Campbell, I was inspired by my peers and teachers to become someone who could positively impact others,” Sahad says. This sense of purpose drives him to deliver thoughtful, high-quality service to every customer who walks through the door, whether they’re ordering a single shirt or planning a major event.

His leadership extends beyond managing operations. Sahad actively mentors younger team members, encouraging them to develop their skills and take pride in their work. He views his role as a platform to inspire others to achieve their potential, creating a workplace culture that mirrors the community spirit he cherishes.

The shop offers everything from custom apparel and promotional items to signage and business cards, each

project handled with meticulous attention to detail. “We love helping people elevate their brands,” Sahad explains. “When someone walks in with a vision, we work hard to bring it to life.” Whether it’s a small order or a major campaign, he approaches each task with the same careful attention, knowing that every piece contributes to someone’s larger story.

A particularly rewarding moment came when a local nonprofit approached the shop to create promotional items for a fundraiser. “Knowing our work helped amplify their cause and support their mission was incredibly rewarding,” Sahad adds. These experiences highlight how his work impacts the broader community, creating ripples of positive change throughout Smyrna.

For Sahad, working in Smyrna transcends career—it’s his way of giving back to the community that shaped him. “This town has given me so much,” he says. “Being able to contribute to its growth and success means everything to me.”

As Smyrna continues to evolve, Sahad remains committed to ensuring that Instant Imprints is where creativity, quality, and community converge. His story exemplifies the power of staying connected to your roots while using your talents to uplift others. Through expertise and passion, he’s created a legacy of care and connection that truly embodies the “love local” spirit.

Seeing customers’ smiles and reactions reminds me why I love serving this community every day.

Love and Flavor Unite in Smyrna & Vinings

A meal is never just about the food—it’s about the connections we make, the memories we create, and the love that goes into each bite. This February, why not make your meal even more special by enjoying it at one of Smyrna’s best local restaurants? Whether you’re gathering with family and friends or indulging in a comforting favorite, these dishes showcase the creativity, warmth, and community spirit that make Smyrna’s food culture so unique.

Mezza Luna brings the flavors of Southern Italy to Smyrna with a menu that highlights fresh, vibrant ingredients and authentic Italian recipes. One dish that has quickly become a local favorite is the Orecchiette Pugliese. This Southern Italian-inspired pasta features orecchiette, a small, ear-shaped pasta that soaks up all the flavors of the dish. Topped with sweet Italian sausage, tender broccolini, and juicy cherry tomatoes, the pasta is reduced with white wine, garlic, and finished with a sprinkle of Parmigiano cheese. It’s a comforting, flavorful dish that embodies the warmth and authenticity of Italian cuisine, making it a must-try at Mezza Luna.

HOBNOB TAVERN

Located in the Vinings, HOBNOB Tavern offers a perfect combination of elevated comfort food and expertly crafted cocktails. Two dishes in particular have earned their place as crowd favorites. For cocktail enthusiasts, the 1551 HOBNOB Old Fashioned is a smoky, boozy classic that’s hard to beat. Made with Small Batch Evan Williams, Angostura bitters, Luxardo, orange peel, and a touch of hickory smoke, it’s a timeless drink that never goes out of style. For food, the 12-Hour Braised Beef Short Rib Sandwich is guaranteed to satisfy. Served on a buttered, toasted long roll with caramelized onions, melted Gruyere cheese, and a Dijon spread, this sandwich is paired with a rich au jus for dipping making every bite a savory masterpiece. Whether you’re enjoying a cocktail or indulging in a hearty meal, HOBNOB Tavern is the place to unwind and savor the best of Smyrna.

Known for its vibrant atmosphere and mouthwatering Tex-Mex offerings, Superica at The Battery is the place to be for a delicious start to your day. One standout item that has earned its place in the hearts of brunch-goers is the hot cakes. These fluffy, golden pancakes are served in a double or triple stack, perfectly paired with whipped butter and a generous drizzle of buttermilk syrup. Chefowner Ford Fry even shares a little tip for making this indulgent dish even more satisfying: don’t skimp on the syrup—extra is always better! Whether you’re looking to fuel up for a busy day or unwind with friends, Superica’s hot cakes are a must-try for anyone craving comfort and flavor.

This iconic beef tartare, originally created by late Chef de Cuisine Ryan Hidinger, has become a local favorite, and for good reason. With fresh shallots, capers, chives, and a mustard-forward kick, this dish transforms simple ingredients into a stunning culinary experience. Available all month long, Hidi’s Tartare is more than just a dish—it’s a tribute to M&T’s rich legacy and the creative talent that has helped shape the restaurant’s place in the community. Charting a New Course in Education

METRO ACADEMIC STUDIES REDEFINES HOMESCHOOLING FOR SMYRNA VININGS FAMILIES WITH CREATIVITY, FLEXIBILITY, AND CONNECTION.

ARTICLE BY STACEY SCOTT | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

On a Wednesday morning, the halls of The Church of the Apostles buzz with activity as students transition between classes. Some head to physics, others to debate or photography. In one classroom, a teacher explains the intricacies of Spanish verbs, while down the hall, students collaborate on a hands-on science experiment. This lively environment is Metro Academic Studies (MAS), a unique hybrid homeschool program serving families in the Atlanta metro area. At MAS, education transcends textbooks, blending academics, creativity, and community into a dynamic learning experience.

MAS operates as a hybrid homeschool, an organization of credentialed instructors and staff providing a variety of quality a la carte classes from a Christian worldview for homeschooled students. This model offers a balance of flexibility and structure, enabling families to tailor an educational experience that meets their specific needs.

Classes meet twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays, allowing students to balance structured instruction with independent study. With more than 80 courses available, students can pursue core academic subjects, explore fine arts, or engage in electives such as filmmaking and debate.

MAS’s mission is clear: to partner with home-educating families to equip students to think critically and engage with culture through a Christian worldview. This thoughtful integration of faith and education sets MAS apart, fostering an environment where students can grow academically and spiritually.

The flexible nature of MAS allows families to create schedules that suit their individual goals. Some students enroll in just one or two classes, while others pursue a full course load. This adaptability ensures that students can focus on their studies while also engaging in hobbies, athletics, or family activities.

Community is at the heart of MAS. Small class sizes encourage lively discussions and collaborative projects, while extracurricular activities such as drama productions, speech and debate, and student government bring students together. Social events like park meet-ups and dances further foster a sense of belonging among students and families.

MAS distinguishes itself with its unique combination of academic excellence, a nurturing community, and a Christian foundation. The program’s hybrid homeschool model provides families with the flexibility to customize education while maintaining the structure needed for academic success. The extensive course

“MAS offers students a dynamic balance of academics, creativity, and meaningful connections.”

offerings cater to a wide range of interests and aspirations, from advanced science labs to creative electives like animation and photography.

This blend of personalized academics and meaningful connections makes MAS a standout option for families. The Christian worldview woven into the curriculum encourages students to think critically about cultural and spiritual topics, sparking meaningful conversations that deepen their understanding.

“The outside activities, like park meet-ups and dances, help us have fun and really connect with each other,” says seventh-grader Kyndal Dukes. “The connections I’ve made here are special and lasting.”

A typical day at MAS combines structured learning with opportunities for independence. Students attend 1.5-hour classes, with study halls available for completing assignments, collaborating with peers, or diving deeper into their interests. This rhythm allows students to balance academics with extracurricular pursuits such as sports or artistic endeavors.

Dedicated instructors bring energy and expertise to their classrooms, creating an environment where students feel both supported and challenged. “Our students thrive in classes that challenge and excite them,” says Linda Richardson, one of MAS’s passionate educators.

MAS is more than a place for learning—it is a community where students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. The program’s integration of faith and education, combined with its personalized approach, creates a welcoming space for students to grow and succeed.

For many families, MAS becomes a cornerstone of their homeschooling journey—a place where students gain knowledge, build lasting friendships, and discover their potential. MAS’s story is one of connection, curiosity, and a shared commitment to learning.

Smyrna Serenade

While Man may fear Time, an ancient Arab proverb informs us, Time most definitely fears the Pyramids.

Every day, between 7am and 11pm, our fear of time here in Smyrna is embroidered with a conspiracy of melody and clockworks that declare the hour graphically and in tympany from a brick cupola, about the size of an average guest bedroom, perched atop the Smyrna Community Center and capped, appropriately, by a four-sided pyramid, with, as Howard Carter and his boy king would expect, a hidden entrance.

The clock’s familiar melody consists of only four notes: G#4, F#4, E4, and a bass note, B3, and is known to clock makers of the last two centuries as Westminster Chimes, or alternatively, Westminster Quarters, referring to the four stanzas played every quarter-hour.

The Community Center was constructed as part of the 1989 Downtown Smyrna Development Plan and completed the same year that Best Picture Oscar went to ‘Dancing with Wolves,’ a little thing called the World Wide Web went live for the first time from CERN in Switzerland, and the first cellular phone towers became part of our skylines.

The digital tech revolution not yet having reached time keeping, the original Smyrna clockworks were purely mechanical requiring regular human intervention to correct the heroic but imperfect measurement of a second by windings, gears, and pawls, as well as the vagaries of Daylight Savings.

A technology refresh in 2014 replaced the mechanical system with a custom electronic equivalent created by 182-year old Verdin Company, maintained by Georgia’s own White’s Clock & Carillon in Sharpsburg. The bells of our clock tower are, in fact, high-wattage loudspeakers, each about the size of the book-return box at the Smyrna Library next door, mounted on each corner of the Community Center roof.

A stereo system sized stack of battleship gray boxes on the ground floor automatically adjust the minute hands, each as long as an average Smyrna Elementary School 2nd grader is tall, as needed for Daylight Savings and rare power outages. For Fall Back, the boxes command

the minute hands to lay dormant at 2am Sunday morning for an exact hour, letting time and the Universe to catch up. For Spring Forward, pulses are sent double time to advance the minute hand one complete revolution. The hour hand, ever the faithful puppy, follows behind in precise increments, ten to each hour. “Like setting a wristwatch,” says Smyrna’s Facilities Maintenance Tech Alex Warner, whose responsibilities include, among other things, keeping the monster clock and its serenade punctual.

The audible and visual result of this collaboration would return Charles Dickens to Elizabeth Tower housing the famous bell, Big Ben, as well as Victor Hugo and his hunch-back to Notre Dame.

So that you might sing along the next time you’re near to hear, here are the stanzas of Westminster Quarters, a prayer meant to assuage our fear of time:

At 15 minutes past the hour:

All through this hour

At 30 minutes past the hour:

All through this hour,

Lord be my guide

At 45 minutes past the hour:

All through this hour,

Lord be my guide,

That by Thy power

And finally, at the top of the hour, before striking the count:

All through this hour,

Lord be my guide,

That by Thy power,

No foot may slide.

WHY WE LOVE Smyrna Vinings

Heartfelt stories from residents about our beloved community.

We love the small-town charm of Smyrna and its vibrant, diverse community. There’s always a local event happening where you’re sure to see familiar faces. Plus, its close proximity to everything Atlanta has to offer makes it even more appealing. It’s simply a refreshing, laid-back place to live and enjoy life.

Smyrna Vinings is more than just a place to live—it’s a community filled with heart, where connections run deep and opportunities to grow and thrive abound. From its charming streets to its bustling festivals, Smyrna Vinings offers a unique blend of hometown warmth and forward-thinking energy that welcomes everyone with open arms.

Whether you’re enjoying the vibrant local events, strolling through our parks, or immersing yourself in the community’s rich history, Smyrna Vinings has a way of making everyday moments extraordinary. It’s a place where neighbors come together, city programming truly serves its residents, and there are countless ways to give back through organizations that strengthen the fabric of our neighborhoods.

What truly sets Smyrna Vinings apart, though, is its people. Our residents are passionate, creative, and deeply invested in the community they call home. They celebrate diversity, nurture young families, and inspire each other to keep making Smyrna Vinings better every day.

To capture the essence of why this community is so beloved, we reached out to seven residents and asked them to share what they love most about living here. Their reflections showcase the many facets of life in Smyrna Vinings—from its welcoming spirit and hometown feel to the cutting-edge amenities and opportunities for connection that make this area a true gem.

As you read their heartfelt words, we hope you’ll find yourself nodding in agreement or discovering new reasons to love the Smyrna Vinings community. After all, it’s not just a place—it’s home.

JEFF CARTER

Growing up in the metro-Atlanta area, I have been delightfully surprised with how different Smyrna is compared to other pockets around the city.  I always am learning something new and meaningful living within the unique and rich history of Smyrna and surrounding areas. This area boasts a hometown feel, cutting edge amenities, and variety of educational spaces and places.  My family and I work, shop, worship, serve others, recreate, play and thrive here in Smyrna.

What I love about living in the Smyrna Vinings community are the many opportunities to serve. Whether it’s the Smyrna Business Association, Smyrna Arts Council, Smyrna Education Foundation, or Smyrna’s Racial Trust Building Initiative, there are so many ways to get involved and I’ve met so many wonderful people this way.

What I love most about the Smyrna/ Vinings area is the sense of community. It has the spirit of a small town with a big heart. Our family loves seeing familiar faces in our schools, our downtown area, and community events like the annual concert, festivals and holiday activities.

There is no place like Smyrna!  Smyrna is a wonderfully diverse and vibrant community with longtime residents and countless new young families moving to the Jonquil City.  Our neighborhoods are unique, fun is always nearby, and our residents care for one and other.  We are lucky to live in this great city.

LAURA NORTON

The Smyrna Vinings community is special. I may be biased but I believe our Smyrna city leadership has taken this community to the next level and continues to do so every year with creative city programming, festivals, concerts and more for all ages. I love all the opportunities for my young kids to thrive in a safe and loving community. Smyrna Vinings is growing and it’s great to be along for the ride!

I truly love walking to so many activities and events in Smyrna.  Riding my bike on the Silver Comet Trail and getting connected via bike trails to the Beltline is the best.  The option to ditch the car for health, pleasure and work is exciting to me.

EXPLORE CARIBBEAN WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2025

In Smyrna and Vinings, we take pride in our vibrant community and all it has to offer. But sometimes, a special occasion calls for venturing beyond the familiar to create unforgettable memories. For couples dreaming of a Caribbean destination wedding, 2025 promises exciting trends that are redefining what it means to say “I do” in paradise. So, while we adore local love, here’s a glimpse into what’s captivating hearts just a flight away!

Planning your dream destination wedding in the Caribbean just got even more exciting! Couples are reimagining what their wedding day looks like, opting for celebrations that are uniquely personal, meaningful, and bursting with fun. Here’s a look at the hottest trends making waves and transforming weddings into extraordinary experiences in paradise.

1. ADULTS-ONLY CELEBRATIONS

Couples are embracing the idea of an adults-only destination wedding to create a truly elevated experience. Think uninterrupted poolside lounging, latenight dance parties, and indulgent resort amenities designed for grown-up relaxation. Whether it’s a beachfront soirée or a jungle ceremony, an adults-only vibe ensures your guests enjoy an unforgettable, stress-free getaway.

2. UNIQUE VENUES BEYOND THE BEACH

While the Caribbean’s beaches are iconic, many couples are trading “toesin-the-sand” for more unique venues.

“YOUR

Picture saying “I do” in a tropical garden, on a stunning cliffside reminiscent of Europe, or on a sleek rooftop terrace with breathtaking views. These settings combine the allure of the islands with a touch of unexpected elegance and exclusivity, all while keeping those wedding shoes sand-free.

3. PERSONALIZING TRADITIONS

Couples are ditching old-school traditions in favor of playful, meaningful moments that reflect their personalities. Imagine beer boys delivering drinks down the aisle, moms or grandmas as flower girls, or tossing t-shirts instead of bouquets. A “photo bomb table release” for

the dinner buffet is also trending, allowing couples to capture candid moments with every guest. The result? A wedding as fun and unique as your love story, leaving a lasting impression no one will forget.

4. PRIVATE VOW EXCHANGES

Couples are carving out private moments to exchange vows before the main events. Picture whispering promises in a secluded garden surrounded by palm trees or on a quiet balcony overlooking endless turquoise waters. These intimate exchanges allow for a deeper connection while still enjoying the energy of a big celebration afterward.

Planning a destination wedding is a dream come true, but it’s the guidance of an expert that transforms that dream into reality. Partnering with a destination wedding expert who knows the ins and outs of the Caribbean ensures your celebration is not only seamless but also truly one-ofa-kind. After all, your love story deserves nothing less!

Building the Perfect Bouquet

Valentine’s Day can be celebrated in many ways. Some people choose to go out for dinner and a movie, others hire a private chef for a romantic meal at home, some buy chocolates and find a fun activity in town, and some couples go out of town for an exciting getaway! One Valentine’s Day staple is giving a bouquet of flowers to someone special. Flowers are the gift that say I love you and can be given to your spouse, children, and mom. As a child, my father always got me roses on Valentine’s Day until I met my husband and he took over the tradition. A bouquet of flowers can say many things as each flower has a different meaning. If you’re wanting to say something special to the ones you love this Valentine’s Day, take a look at our list of three popular flowers, what they mean, and what flowers to pair them with.

USE THIS GUIDE WHEN ORDERING VALENTINE’S DAY BOUQUETS

Roses

LOVE & ROMANCE

Roses are by far the most popular flower to give on Valentine’s Day. They are beautiful by themselves or you can add Baby’s Breath to enhance the bouquet. These two make a romantic bouquet and are the perfect flowers to give to someone special.

Lilies

PURITY & FERTILITY

Lilies come in a variety of colors and are eye-catching! For a softer looking bouquet, pair your lilies with carnations. These two combined are fun and heartwarming and are a great gift for anyone.

Tulips

PERFECT FOR DEEP LOVE

A bouquet of tulips will brighten any space! Adding some Ranunculus, also known as buttercup, will complement the tulips wonderfully. These flowers have a refreshing look that will decorate any home beautifully in a crystal vase.

“A wide door for effective ministry has opened for me…” 1 Corinthians 16:9

As the Apostle Paul brought his letter of 1 Corinthians to its close, he explained his reason for staying for a while in the city of Ephesus. He sensed that God had opened a door for effective ministry within the city, and he was compelled to walk through it. This verse is a fitting way to encapsulate one of the most significant decisions our church has made in its rich and vibrant history. First Baptist Smyrna has never been afraid to boldly walk through the doors that God has opened for us. In 1886, we built our first building in the heart of our city. In 1924 our historic rock chapel was completed, giving our church’s ministry to Smyrna an even larger imprint. God blessed our congregation with its current sanctuary in 1961, and this past month, God opened yet another door. First Baptist closed on a transaction with the City of Smyrna that allows us to build a new campus just a short walking distance away from our present location.

Thanks to the God-supplied vision of our faithful members and the future thinking of our Mayor and City Council, this decision is a win on every front. The city will have the privilege to expand our downtown to make it an even more inviting place for neighbors and friends to gather. And for our church, the opportunity is filled with the promise of having a newly constructed, paid-for facility that allows us to reach

Smyrna with the gospel for decades to come.

True to its name, Smyrna First Baptist has always existed to put Smyrna first. Our church is unapologetically biblical, and as such, it is our deep desire, our calling really, to lead every person who calls Smyrna home into a loving, thriving relationship with Jesus. This decision to move and relocate our campus is not only consistent with our calling, but it was birthed directly from it. We love our Savior and we also love our city. This move brings both of these loves together.

I humbly ask for you to pray for us as we seek to effectively minister to our community for the next generation. If you don’t currently have a church home, will you consider joining us as we walk through this wide-open door together?
